Book Social Neuroeconomics

Download or read book Social Neuroeconomics written by Jens Harbecke and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-09-23 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neuroeconomics has emerged as a paradigmatic field where neuroscience and the social sciences are integrated in one analytical and empirical approach. However, the different disciplines involved often only relate to each other via the shared object of research, and less through the constructing of precise models of integrative mechanisms. Social Neuroeconomics explores the potential of philosophical and methodological reflections in the neurosciences and the social sciences to inform those efforts at cross-disciplinary integration, with a special focus on recent contributions to mechanistic explanations. The collected essays are drawn from the fields of neuroscience, psychology, economics, sociology and philosophy, and examine the ways and methods of constructing unified conceptual frameworks that can guide empirical work and hypothesis building. This is demonstrated in a range of applications, particularly regarding finance and consumer behavior. The concept of the ‘social brain’ is also explored; a multilevel framework in which complex analytical categories such as emotions or socially mediated cognitive processes connect neuronal and social phenomena in specific mechanisms that generate behavior. This book addresses a wide audience across the various disciplines, reaching from the neurosciences to the social sciences and philosophy.

Book Values and Corporate Responsibility

Download or read book Values and Corporate Responsibility written by Francisca Farache and published by Palgrave Macmillan. This book was released on 2021-10-14 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book we capture and explore different aspects of value in corporate social responsibility (CSR). This includes the historical development of value in CSR, how value is linked to a positive vision of the future, and how it is communicated by a range of private and public organisations to various audiences. The book contrasts corporate strategic value with co-operative value, and community value in the context of sustainable development. It explains how leaders’ values can drive responsible business practice and enhance social cohesion, solidarity and resilience in fractured and unequal communities. The book asks the reader to consider what value means in CSR for business and society, where it comes from and how it is enacted, alongside its broader purpose and value to the community. Finally, the book presents CSR as a global project by noting how values are cultural and how sustainability has become an urgent international priority.

Book Social Accounting Matrices and Multiplier Analysis

Download or read book Social Accounting Matrices and Multiplier Analysis written by Clemens Breisinger and published by Intl Food Policy Res Inst. This book was released on 2009 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This training guide introduces development practitioners, policy analysts, and students to social accounting matrices (SAMs) and their use in policy analysis. There are already a number of books that explain the System of National Accounts and SAM multipliers-some of these are recommended at the end of this training guide. However, most books tend to be quite technical and move quickly from an introduction to more complex applications. By contrast, this guidebook uses a series of hands-on exercises to gradually introduce SAMs and multiplier analysis. It therefore complements more theoretical SAM and multiplier literature and provides a first step for development practitioners and students wishing to understand the strengths and limitations of these economic tools. It is also useful for policy analysts and researchers embarking on more complex SAM-based methodologies. One such methodology is computable general equilibrium (CGE) modeling, for which IFPRI has also developed a series of introductory exercises and a standard modeling framework. To download the exercises, go to www.ifpri.org/publication/social-accounting-matrices-and-multiplier-analysis

Book Food Prices and Inflation in Developing Asia

Download or read book Food Prices and Inflation in Developing Asia written by Asian Development Bank and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The recent spike in global food prices and the short-sighted policy responses that accentuate volatility in prices threaten to push large numbers of people back below the poverty line--including many millions in developing Asia. Structural forces augmented by adverse cyclical events have put food prices on an upward trajectory that will not end soon. Unless trade is kept open and relative prices are allowed to reflect market scarcity, severe consequences will emerge. In the immediate future, carefully targeted assistance to the poor will be essential--both in terms of food and inputs necessary to increase food production in the coming crop season. A reevaluation of investment priorities and feasibility of agricultural projects must be undertaken in light of these price developments, accompanied by stronger efforts to boost agricultural productivity growth in order to mitigate any longer-term rise in food prices."--Abstract.
