Book Aeronautical Applications of Non destructive Testing

Download or read book Aeronautical Applications of Non destructive Testing written by Abbas Fahr and published by DEStech Publications, Inc. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Comprehensive guide to the basic principles and applications of non-destructive testing methods for aircraft system and components: airframe, propulsion, landing gear and more Provides detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of major NDT methods Important for design, inspection, maintenance, repair, corrosion protection and safety This critical book is among the first to provide a detailed assessment of non-destructive testing methods for the many materials and thousands of parts in aircraft. It describes a wide variety of NDT techniques and explains their application in the evaluation and inspection of aerospace materials and components ranging from the entire airframe to systems and subsystems. At the same time the book offers guidance on the information derived from each NDT method and its relation to aircraft design, repair, maintenance and overall safety. The book covers basic principles, as well as practical details of instrumentation, procedures and operational results with a full discussion of each method's capabilities and limitations as these pertain to aircraft inspection and different types of materials, e.g., composites and metal alloys. Technologies covered include: optical and enhanced optical methods; liquid penetrant, replication and magnetic particle inspection; electromagnetic and eddy current approaches; acoustics and ultrasonic techniques; infrared thermal imaging; and radiographic methods. A final section is devoted to NDT reliability and ways the probability of detection can be measured to establish inspection intervals.

Book Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation XXII

Download or read book Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation XXII written by A. Tamburrino and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2019-12-11 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation has grown significantly in recent years. This valuable technique enables the assessment of objects by observing the electromagnetic response to electric currents and/or magnetic fields introduced within them. This book presents the proceedings of the 23rd International Workshop on Electromagnetic Nondestructive Evaluation (ENDE2018), held in Detroit, Michigan, USA, from 9 - 13 September 2018. The workshop provides an international forum for the exchange of information on state-of-the-art technologies and development in electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation, and the 19 papers presented here cover topics including sensors; modeling; signal processing; inverse problems; materials state awareness and characterization; damage diagnosis and prognosis; biomedical applications; and innovative industrial applications of eNDE. Providing a comprehensive overview of current theoretical and applied research into electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation (eNDE) methods, the book will be of interest to all those whose work involves the non-destructive evaluation of objects, whatever their field.

Book Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation

Download or read book Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation written by Donald O. Thompson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 2093 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These Proceedings, consisting of Parts A and B, contain the edited versions of most of the papers presented at the annual Review of Progress in Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation held at University of San Diego, San Diego, CA, on July 27 to August 1, 1997. The Review was organized by the Center for NDE at Iowa State University, in cooperation with the Ames Laboratory of the USDOE, the American Society of Nondestructive Testing, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Science Foundation IndustrylUniversity Cooperative Research Centers. This year's Review of Progress in QNDE was attended by approximately 370 participants from the US and many foreign countries who presented a total of approximately 350 papers. As usual, the meeting was divided into 36 sessions with four sessions running concurrently. The Review covered all phases of NDE research and development from fundamental investigations to engineering applications and inspection systems, and methods of inspection science from acoustics to x-rays. The Review continues to experience some fluctuations in size, mostly under pressure from a decrease in funding for NDE research at the US Federal level, but increased participation from foreign laboratories has more than made up the difference. The Review is ideally sized to permit a full-scale overview of the latest developments in a collegial atmosphere that most participants favor. The opening plenary session this year concentrated on advances in imaging technologies and methodologies that have been made in recent years. Dr. K.

Book Giant Magnetoresistance GMR Sensors

Download or read book Giant Magnetoresistance GMR Sensors written by Candid Reig and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-06 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the discovery of the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect in 1988, spintronics has been presented as a new technology paradigm, awarded by the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2007. Initially used in read heads of hard disk drives, and while disputing a piece of the market to the flash memories, GMR devices have broadened their range of usage by growing towards magnetic field sensing applications in a huge range of scenarios. Potential applications at the time of the discovery have become real in the last two decades. Definitively, GMR was born to stand. In this sense, selected successful approaches of GMR based sensors in different applications: space, automotive, microelectronics, biotechnology ... are collected in the present book. While keeping a practical orientation, the fundamentals as well as the current trends and challenges of this technology are also analyzed. In this sense, state of the art contributions from academy and industry can be found through the contents. This book can be used by starting researchers, postgraduate students and multidisciplinary scientists in order to have a reference text in this topical fascinating field.
