His life was cut short as he attempted to save the crew of the popular Hokuleʻa (a Hawaiian double-hulled canoe) after it was damaged in rough seas as that was sailing from Hawaiʻi to the Marquesas using traditional navigation techniques. Eddie was lost at sea, but his life and story serve as an inspiration to all who are on a journey of self-discovery.
