Ross and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increase your child's recognition, motor skills, and usage of the letter Qq! Have you ever quit because you struggled with something? What do you do to keep from giving up? See what Eddie The Elephant shows us we can do not to quit trying! Eddie The Elephant is on a quest to give his very best today. What different activities will he try, and will he succeed at them? Come along and learn the letter Qq with Eddie as he sees what happens when he doesn't give up! "Eddie The Elephant Does Not Quit Trying" is for parents and teachers that want to do more than teach the letter Qq to preschool-aged children. It's for the parents and teachers that want to set the stage for children to fall in love with reading without having to struggle to keep them engaged and focused as they learn the letters of the alphabet. Our stories are both fun and engaging-children will want you to read it to them over and over, reinforcing the lessons they've learned in the process. When "Eddie The Elephant Does Not Quit Trying" is combined with the customized story-based worksheets found inside the "Eddie The Elephant Does Not Quit Trying Workbook", you'll have no problem getting your preschooler to focus and complete the activity sheets. Your child's experience will be a stress-free one-they'll feel like they are living out a part of the story rather than "doing schoolwork." The workbook features dozens of activity pages that follow the story, allowing you to immerse your child in Eddie's world as they improve pen control, retain new words from the story, and learn to connect those words with images that are featured within the pages. With these advantages supporting you, you'll easily be able to give your child as much time on task as they need before moving to the next letter of the alphabet. The goal is not just to teach your child the alphabet, but to prime them for enjoying the experience of learning, a trait that will help them for the rest of their life. This is of especially vital importance for the skill of reading, as it is arguably the first key to unlocking success later on in adulthood. Many parents that are ready to start teaching their child the alphabet mistakenly believe that they don't have the power to control whether or not their child is interested in learning. Thankfully, this isn't true. Teaching through stories, especially at an early age, increases both active participation and listening skills, it also creates opportunities for children to form a "bond" with the characters that will help them to recognize those characters in other stories later on. By introducing the characters in our books to your child, you'll be able to: Teach Lasting Lessons - Introduce important concepts such as kindness, patience, problem-solving, and politeness through a wide range of characters Expand Memory - increase your child's ability to comprehend and retain the new words they learn throughout the story Strengthen Phonics - reinforce new sounds and deepen the connection between words and images Foster Engagement - Instill a love for learning in your child that will serve them for the rest of their life So, if you're ready to set the stage for your child to fall in love with reading, then "Eddie The Elephant Does Not Quit Trying" is what you've been looking for!

Book Carrying the Elephant

Download or read book Carrying the Elephant written by Michael Rosen and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: dear joe, your wild noisy huge brother is dead. i couldn't do what my parents did: bring two boys, four years apart, through the maze in 72 prose-poems of extraordinary power and vividness, Michael Rosen tells the story of a life: his left-wing Jewish upbringing, with baffling childhood trips to Trafalgar Square, eastern Europe and hospital, followed by trainee days at the BBC under the watchful eyes of Mi5, breakdown of a marriage, development of a new relationship, and the joy of a new baby. And, in a core series of pieces, the central calamity of his life: the sudden death from meningitis of his eighteen-year-old son. 'Rather you than me' said one of the neighbours on hearing the news - a remark that Rosen records, as he does much else to do with the death, with a surprised, painful honesty which constantly brings the reader up short. Unflinching, totally lacking in mawkishness and self-pity, Carrying the Elephant is a triumph of imagination and curiosity.

To Jackie Ryan, insults are foreplay and love is war. What the feisty redhead lacks in stature, she makes up in attitude. She's made more than one grown man cry and she's damn proud of it. Little does the rowdy barista know she's about to meet her match in the shape of a walking, talking pair of starched khakis. When unassuming Eddie Jaworski stumbles into a quirky coffee shop, he isn't expecting a battle of wits with the maniac behind the counter. Still, he can't help be intrigued by the endearingly irreverent human enigma. She's brash, but considerate. Closed off to most, but fiercely loyal to a few. Everything is a joke, except those things that are sacred. Jackie doesn't trust easily and if he wants to get close, he's going to have to work for every inch. Good thing he's up for the challenge. But Eddie has a secret—one he didn't mean to keep—that's going to tug at the delicate strings weaving the pair together. When everything begins to unravel, Jackie must decide just what she's willing to risk for love.

Book Black and White

Download or read book Black and White written by Bryan Peppin and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-09-10 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bryan was born into an "Anglo-Indian" family in 1952. His schooling was completed in 1968, exclusively in "Anglo-Indian" schools, which, up to that point in time at least, were identifiably "Anglo-Indian". Growing up with an "us/them" attitude, the issue was not a real problem until early research work in the field of British Fiction on India brought to Bryan's notice the unchanging negative profiling of the "Anglo-Indian" in books on the theme. Full-fledged research on the "Anglo-Indian" identity ( which culminated in a PhD from the University of Madras in 2010) threw up the picture of a minimal human species that combined the worst traits of East and West. Since Kipling's refrain was so blindly accepted in the nineteenth century, and most of the twentieth century, writers--both Indian and Western--blatantly vilified the "Anglo-Indian", in life as in fiction. This book is an attempt to set down an accurate record, by examining some of the latest (and not so new) books on the exclusive subject. It also calls to account the horrendous and often unforgivable errors made by some writers and many critics. Today, more than ever before, "Anglo-Indians" are completely at home, in India, as well as in other parts of the English-speaking world. It is hoped that, in time, a clearer, more humane picture of the real "Anglo-Indian" will emerge, as it must, when understanding erases the dark images of the past.

Book Short and Sweet and Pithy

Download or read book Short and Sweet and Pithy written by Eddie A. U. Akpan and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-03-11 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each of us is supported by three pillars; the physical, financial, and spiritual pillars. Our body is the chamber or enclosure that entitles us to operate in the physical world. Every day, take some minutes to sing, read, give thanks for all things, do calisthenics, and your pillars will remain strong for a long time. Hercules is endowed with superlative physique; good for him, but even if his wisdom exceeds King Solomon’s, he would not be a happy camper if he has no skills that people can pay for. Turning things around, a wealthy but unwise Hercules would get into more trouble than he can pay for. We need three solid pillars (health, money, and wisdom) so that we can hold our head high like an eagle and shoulders straight like an arrow. In the spiritual world, all things are possible.
