Book Therapy and Prevention of Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis

Download or read book Therapy and Prevention of Atopic Dermatitis and Psoriasis written by Masutaka Furue and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are common inflammatory skin diseases. The excellent therapeutic success of anti-IL-4/IL-13 biologics for atopic dermatitis and anti-TNF-α/IL-23/IL-17A biologics for psoriasis highlights the major pathogenic roles of these cytokines in the respective diseases. Although atopic dermatitis and psoriasis are distinct clinical entities, they share similar inflammatory processes, including increased Th17, Th22, and Th1 signatures. In addition to skin inflammation, both skin diseases exhibit a significant association with systemic diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, and autoimmune diseases. In contrast to atopic dermatitis, males are more susceptible to psoriasis than females. Differential risk factors may be involved in the development and exacerbation in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. In this issue, we will publish cutting-edge information regarding skin inflammation, clinical aspects, risk factors, microbiome, and therapeutics related to psoriatic and atopic inflammation.

Book Skin Diseases Eczema Psoriasis and Related Conditions

Download or read book Skin Diseases Eczema Psoriasis and Related Conditions written by Marcello McCloskey and published by American Medical Publishers. This book was released on 2023-09-26 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conditions that affect the skin are called as skin diseases. There are various types of skin diseases and disorders, such as acne, eczema, alopecia areata, epidermolysis bullosa, hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), ichthyosis, pachyonychia congenita, etc. Eczema and psoriasis are common chronic inflammatory skin diseases. Both psoriasis and eczema result in red, itchy scaly patches on the skin. Psoriasis is related to rheumatologic (psoriatic arthritis), cardiovascular, metabolic, hepatic, and psychiatric diseases whereas eczema is related to higher rates of mental health symptoms and disorders that include depression, anxiety, attention-deficit (hyperactivity) disorder, and sleep dysregulation. Both are caused by a complex interplay between skin-barrier disruption, immune dysregulation, host genetics and environment triggers. Common treatment options for eczema and psoriasis include topical treatments often used as monotherapy in mild to moderate disease. In moderate to severe cases, topical treatment is combined with systemic, biologic, or phototherapy. This book unravels the recent studies on skin diseases. It will serve as a valuable source of reference on eczema, psoriasis and related conditions for graduate and post graduate students.

Book Global Report on Psoriasis

The report is written to help raise awareness of the range of ways that psoriasis can affect peoples' lives. It intends to empower policy-makers with practical solutions to improve the health care and social inclusion of people living with psoriasis in their populations. The report highlights that much of the suffering caused by this common and complex disease can be avoided. Improving access to early diagnosis and appropriate treatment for psoriasis requires universally accessible health-care systems that provide people-centered care for patients with complex, lifelong conditions. Governments also have a key role to play in seeking to address the unnecessary social consequences of psoriasis by the challenging the myths and behaviors that lead to the exclusion of patients from healthcare settings and daily life.
