These guidelines test the wineskins made to preserve the new wines that the Spirit continues to give to his Church, inciting us to initiate changes through concrete action in the short and long term.It is an exercise in "ecclesial discernment" through which consecrated men and women are called to undergo new changes so that ideals and doctrine become real in our lives: systems, structures, diaconia, styles, relationships and language. These guidelines are the product of what emerged from the events held during the Year of Consecrated Life.

These new, powerfully dynamic realities, recognised by John Paul II as a 'providential answer' to communicating the Gospel in a new way to the whole world, offer a great source of hope. This document reflects on how a fruitful and ordered participation of these 'movements' is achievable in communion with the mission of the Church.

Book Trinity in Aquinas

Download or read book Trinity in Aquinas written by Gilles Emery and published by Sapientia Press Ave Maria Univ. This book was released on 2006 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gilles Emery belongs among the world's premier theologians of the Trinity. With an introduction by the renowned Dominican Thomist Jean-Pierre Torrell, Trinity in Aquinas combines historical erudition and mature speculative insight. In scholarly prose of rare clarity and precision, Emery explores the key themes of Trinitarian theology: divine unity, the Trinitarian character of the divine act of creation, the integration of biblical exegesis and speculative theology, and the development of Trinitarian doctrine, and the controversy over the filioque. As Emery teaches, "The theological activity of knowledge of God and love of God, in the saints, 'imitates' or 'represents' the activity of God the Father who pronounces the Word and breathes the Spirit." Emery instructs all believers who seek, by means of intellectual contemplation inspired by love, to share more deeply in the "theological activity" of the saints. About the Author: Gilles Emery is a Dominican priest of the Swiss province of Preachers and professor of dogmatic theology at University of Fribourg, Switzerland. He has authored La Trinite creatice (Vrin) and Thomas d'Aquin, Traites: Les rasions de la foi, les articles de la foi (Cerf). He co-edited with Pierre Gisel, Le Christianisme est-il un monotheisme? (Labor et Fides). He is member of the editorial board of the Revue thomiste.

Book Toward a Pneumatological Theology

Download or read book Toward a Pneumatological Theology written by Veli-Matti Kärkkäinen and published by Upa. This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pentecostalism has been known much more for its religious experientialism than for its theology. During the past generation, however, Pentecostals have taken up the task of reflecting theologically from their experience of the Spirit of God. This book represents Pentecostal theology at its best, being thoroughly and unabashedly Pentecostal on the one hand, and yet being deeply ecumenical on the other. Within this dual Pentecostal and ecumenical framework, it offers Spirit-centered theological perspectives on the doctrine of the Church (ecclesiology), the doctrine of the salvation (soteriology), and the ministry and witness of Christians to the world (theology of mission). Toward a Pneumatological Theology is a sign that Pentecostal theology has come of age. It furthers the discussion of what it means to do Christian theology by starting with the Spirit of God, thereby demonstrating that Pentecostalism may indeed have something unique and distinctive to offer theologically to the larger Christian Church. At the same time, it will also be of interest to those who wish to begin understanding Pentecostalism on its own terms as well as to those who have followed closely the history and theology of the movement.

Download or read book Grace and Freedom written by Bernard Lonergan and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2000-06-01 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Grace and Freedom represents Lonergan's entry into subject matter that would occupy him throughout his lifetime. At the same time it is a manifestation of the thinking that has made him one of the world's foremost Thomist scholars. The volume is in two parts. Part One is a new edition of "Grace and Freedom: Operative Grace in the Thought of St Thomas Aquinas", four articles written by Lonergan in 1941-42, first published in book form in 1971. This edition includes new notes and indices. Part Two is Lonergan's doctoral dissertation, "Gratia Operans", submitted to the Gregorian University, Rome, in 1940. Published here in full for the first time, the dissertation provides important context and background for the articles in the first part. Lonergan's thesis is that, from the sixteenth century onwards, commentators on Thomas Aquinas lacked historical consciousness, raised questions that Thomas had never considered, and obfuscated the issues. Lonergan's achievement consists in having retrieved the actual position of Thomas by adopting a historical approach that has reconstructed his intellectual development on grace. The majority of contemporary theologians now agree with the implementation of the historical method. What Lonergan also adds is a unique diagnosis of the mistakes made by the modern scholastic authors in their treatment of grace. Throughout this work, Lonergan discovers in Thomas a mind in constant development, displaying radical shifts on fundamental questions. Together the two parts not only reveal an essential step in Lonergan's own development, but also make an impressive contribution to Thomist studies.
