This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Europe et globalisation written by Gérard Kébabdjian and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2006-02-01 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Histoire conomique et sociale de la construction europ enne written by René Leboutte and published by P.I.E-Peter Lang S.A., Editions Scientifiques Internationales. This book was released on 2008 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book European Economic Integration

Download or read book European Economic Integration written by Gerald R. Faulhaber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gerald R. Faulhaber and Gualtiero Tamburini University of Pennsylvania and Universita Delgi Studi di Bologna This book brings together chapters by a group of European and North American economists, all of which focus on a single aspect of the ongoing plan for European economic integration - the role of technology. Indeed, the plan for European integration has many aspects social, institutional, and political. From a broad standpoint, the program approved by the 12 member states of the European Economic Community (Single European Act) in 1986 addresses these problems. Among other things, the Act pro vi des for the progressive establishment of a single internal market by 1992. At its most basic, this single European market means the unrestricted circulation of goods, people, services, and capital, unhindered by borders, tariffs, or restrictive national practices. The actual economic integration as planned by the Single Act will have a variety of consequences. On the whole, there will be the consolidation of the benefits already gained over the 2 Introduction previous 30 years due to the progressive lowering of tariff barriers within the Common Market. In particular, there has a been a shift away from Iimited national markets toward the wider market of the Community. In turn, this expansion of the market promises improved economies of scale and scope for many industries and a more efficient geographic allocation of production.

Book The Integration of the European Economy Since 1815

Download or read book The Integration of the European Economy Since 1815 written by Sidney Pollard and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-11-05 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sidney Pollard has provided a concise survey of economic issues for students of the European community. Going back to 1815, he links the progress of industrialisation in Europe to the relative ease with which ideas, men and capital were able to cross national frontiers. European frontiers make little economic sense and frequently cut across vital natural links. Professor Pollard shows how open frontiers speeded progress, in the particular circumstances of the spread of industrialisation from Britain to Western Europe and then to the rest of the continent, adn opened up new markets and opportunities of learning and technology transfer. Closed frontiers and the national selfishness of economic warfare led in contrast to stagnation, hostility and at times to all-out war. This classic study was first published in 1981.

Book European Integration and Health Policy

Download or read book European Integration and Health Policy written by Panos Minogiannis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The impact of European integration on diverse national social policies is still largely unknown. While policy decision making remains at the country level, there is a strong possibility that indirectly, as a result of ideological imperatives and financial constraints, policies will change. National health policy is a case in point. This important volume explores the current and probable effect of European integration on health care protection. Will it tend to encourage all European member states to provide equitable and universal access to quality care? Or is the European integration process likely to lead to social exclusion of some? The high degree of social welfare as a health expectancy holds great significance for decisions in countries like the United States facing similiar pressures for expanded coverage. In answering these questions, Panos Minogiannis examines policies in Greece, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Minogiannis frames his argument through an exploration of the history of the institutionalization of health care. Chapter 1 explores the nature of challenges that health care faces in an era of integration and the ways in which these challenges have emerged. Chapter 2 discusses centralization of governance in Brussels, describing the structure and relations of different European Union institutions, and their interactions with member states. The final portions of the book, through case studies of the Dutch, French, German, and Greek health reforms, explore the history of the political development of health care institutions with a particular interest in reform proposals in the last fifteen years. Chapter 7 brings together lessons from previous chapters and discusses the dynamics of health policy making in the European Union. Minogiannis concludes that health insurance will most likely remain at the member state level as far as politics are concerned, at least for the present, although policy makers will most likely have to deal with the issue of cross-border health more comprehensively than in the past. Those interested in comparative policy, and in particular health care policy, will find this volume highly informative reading. Those interested in the impact of European integration will find it provocative. Panos Minogiannis is with the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and is a research associate at the Eisenhower Center.

Book Limits and Problems of European Integration

Download or read book Limits and Problems of European Integration written by Ernst B. Haas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: by B. LANDHEER The Grotius Seminarium has as its purpose the study of international problems under the aspect of "living and cooperating in one world." Its Conference of May 30-June 2, I96I on "Limits and Problems of European integration" attempted to view European integration within the framework of this general goal as is somewhat implied in its title. "The limits of European integration" lie in the necessity of fitting it in the wider framework of international cooperation, while its problems lie in the various interpretations and concretizations of its own goals, ab out which there are a number of different viewpoints. It could be stated that the European is faced with three sets of problems: the creation of a more unified world as a global problem; the regional integration of Europe; and, thirdly, the continuation of more strictly national interests. It is not justified to assume that these three circles of interest are automatically complementary: they are often antagonistic, and a "philosophy of integration" would have to arrive at a structural presentation of those various values and of tbeir interrelatedness. While it is obviously not possible for a small Conference to give those problems their full weight, it is nevertheless hoped that the essays combined in this volume raise a number of relevant questions and contribute to the elaboration of some more concrete problems.

Book The Politics and Policies of European Economic Integration 1850 1914

Download or read book The Politics and Policies of European Economic Integration 1850 1914 written by Yaman Kouli and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book asks anew whether there really was European integration before 1914. By focussing on quantitative (economic indicators) and qualitative data (the international regulation of patents, communication networks, social policy and plant protection), the authors re-evaluate European integration of the time and address the politics of seemingly apolitical cooperation. The authors show that European integration was multifaceted and cooperation less the result of intent, than of incentives. National polities and international regimes co-shaped each other. The result is a book that achieves two things: offer stand-alone chapters that shed light on specific developments and – these read altogether – develop a bigger picture. It will be of interest to researchers and students of economic history, as well as those interested in the history of internationalism and globalisation.

Book L Europe une fracture retardement

Download or read book L Europe une fracture retardement written by Violaine Delteil and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
