Book Principles of City Land Values

Download or read book Principles of City Land Values written by Richard M. Hurd and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-09-15 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Principles of City Land Values' is a study book on the valuation of land and buildings in the American real estate market. When placed in charge of the Mortgage Department of the U. S. Mortgage & Trust Co. in 1895, the writer, Richard M. Hurd, searched in vain, both in England and this country, for books on the science of city real estate as an aid in judging values. Finding in economic books merely brief references to city land and elsewhere only fragmentary articles, the plan arose to outline the theory of the structure of cities and to state the average scales of land values produced by different utilities within them. The material for this study of the structure of cities - including their locations, starting points and lines of growth - has been gathered from a large number of local histories of American cities, old maps, commercial geographies, etc.

Book The Economics of Real Property

Download or read book The Economics of Real Property written by Ralph Turvey and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-08-22 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1957. This book applies modern economic theory to the subject of land economics. The author is primarily concerned to show the role of analysis, with the main emphasis on urban real property. The first part discusses the working of the price mechanism in the property market. The second contains an extension and application of the analysis to property taxation and to two kinds of State intervention in the use of property. The chapter on the taxation of site values, for instance, is an original, general equilibrium analysis of the effects of taxation. The chapter on Compensation and Betterment, which ends the book, includes an analysis of recent British experience.

Book Rethinking the Economics of Land and Housing

Download or read book Rethinking the Economics of Land and Housing written by Josh Ryan-Collins and published by Zed Books Ltd.. This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why are house prices in many advanced economies rising faster than incomes? Why isn’t land and location taught or seen as important in modern economics? What is the relationship between the financial system and land? In this accessible but provocative guide to the economics of land and housing, the authors reveal how many of the key challenges facing modern economies - including housing crises, financial instability and growing inequalities - are intimately tied to the land economy. Looking at the ways in which discussions of land have been routinely excluded from both housing policy and economic theory, the authors show that in order to tackle these increasingly pressing issues a major rethink by both politicians and economists is required.

Book Economics Real Estate and the Supply of Land

Download or read book Economics Real Estate and the Supply of Land written by Alan W. Evans and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-04-30 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book draws together the economic literature relating to the supply of land for development. The standard view appears to be that the owners of land have no interest other than to allow their land to be used for the activity which would yield the highest income. But in reality this is not so and the book's aim is to demonstrate this, to set out the reasons and to show the economic effects of the fact that landowners have other motives. The book covers the supply of land for urban development and shows how land has characteristics which differentiate it from other factors of production which will also affect its supply for some uses, e.g. land is fixed in location and its price and value are inseparable from where it is. New light is cast on the market for land (by concentrating on the supply side), and on land use planning (by taking an economic viewpoint).

Book Land Value Taxation

Download or read book Land Value Taxation written by K.C. Wenzer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-07-01 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A distinguished interdisciplinary group of scholars examines the merits and shortcomings of Land-Value taxation, and how it compares and contrasts with the conventional property tax. The latter is shown as deterring enterprise to the detriment of employment and as pushing up the cost of improving property with inflationary consequences. The former, with evidence from places where it is already in use, is shown to encourage optimum land use, foster employment, and prevent urban sprawl.

Book Economics of Property Management The Building as a Means of Production

Download or read book Economics of Property Management The Building as a Means of Production written by Herman Tempelmans Plat and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-06-25 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The economic analysis of a building is a complex subject and traditionally it has focused on a single aspect of the structure or a single part of the construction process. Dr Tempelmans Plat is a leading proponent of a new methodology which focuses on the building as a stock of services to be supplied over a long lifespan. This method is more realistic since it takes into account the changes in use and the adaptation of the building over its life. This book will be the first to make this method comprehensible to a wide audience of postgraduate students and professionals in the field of construction economics.
