Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Echoes of a soul, is a collection of poems that describe life in its variety of colours and textures. From the changing of the seasons to the evolution of other life forms as seen in the socio political culture and the fallen human condition, all woven together in rich metaphor of plants, gardens, fruit, etc. While the poems evoke an in-expressible sense of longing for a better state of affairs as currently experienced, they nevertheless acknowledge some present good that may still be existent in the imperfect status quo and thus invoke hope for a better future. In that sense the author is not hopeless about the future, even as he is not satisfied with the present.

Download or read book Developments in the Japanese Documentary Mode written by Marcos Centeno and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-06-10 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing on Japanese cinema has prioritized aesthetic and cultural difference, and obscured Japan's contribution to the representation of real life in cinema and related forms. Donald Richie, who was instrumental in introducing Japanese cinema to the West, even claimed that Japan did not have a true documentary tradition due to the apparent preference of Japanese audiences for stylisation over realism, a preference that originated from its theatrical tradition. However, a closer look at the history of Japanese documentary and feature film production reveals an emphasis on actuality and everyday life as a major part of Japanese film culture. That 'documentary mode' – crossing genre and medium like Peter Brooks' 'melodramatic mode' rather than limited to styles of documentary filmmaking alone – identifies rhetoric of authenticity in cinema and related media, even as that rhetoric was sometimes put in service to political and economic ends. The articles in this Special Issue, ‘Developments in the Japanese Documentary Mode’, trace important changes in documentary film schools and movements from the 1930s onwards, sometimes in relation to other media, and the efforts of some post-war filmmakers to adapt the styles and ethical commitments that underpin documentary's "impression of authenticity" to their representation of fictional worlds

Chapter 1: The Green Mist Falls In the middle of a busy city where everyone could hear laughter, kids playing, and markets going crazy, something amazing and unexpected happened one day. An unusual event happened in this city, which is known for its bright colors and happy people. It turned an ordinary day into an amazing journey. Early in the morning, a thick green mist started to roll down the hills and into the streets. It covered up homes, trees, and parks, and as the sun came up, it turned the sky pink and orange. Everyone knew the mysterious defender as the city's defender. From a high tower, he or she watched the green mist come into the city. This Guardian, who had lived a long time and seen a lot, watched in fear as the mist shook the city beyond repair. The streets, which had been lively and busy before, were filled with chaos and confusion. Animals started to act in strange ways, people changed into things they didn't recognize, and plants grew very quickly and twisted into strange shapes. The city has never had such a thick green fog. It seemed to have a life of its own and ate everything in its way as it went around corners and through closed doors. The Guardian could tell that this mist was not like other mists. It was special and had an energy that changed everything it touched. The once-clear sky had turned into a green blanket that gave the city below a strange glow. As the fog came down, the sounds of the city changed. Laughter turned into horrified gasps and talks into shocked and amazed shouts. The people of the city, who are known for being positive and strong, found out they were facing a problem that had never been seen before. Buildings that used to be there looked like they were from a dream, like the mist had some strange effect on them. The Guardian felt a strong duty to protect the city and its people, so he knew that something had to be done. They promised to keep this area safe, and they couldn't let the green mist decide what would happen to it. The Guardian was determined to find out where the mist came from and how to undo what it did, even though it was risky and unclear. This was the start of an amazing journey that would try their bravery, change the way they saw the world, and show them how strong bravery and unity really are. The city came together in ways that no one expected because of this unscheduled event. The green mist finally brought about change, even though it caused chaos and fear at first. The people of the city were reminded that they could always count on each other and be brave in tough situations. The Guardian stood watch over the city with a renewed sense of purpose. They were ready to go on a journey that would take them into unknown territory in the hopes of bringing the city back to its former glory. There were riddles to solve, new friends to make, and lessons to be learned about how to balance life in the city and in the wild in the next adventure. Chapter 2: The Guardian's Oath There was a green mist over the city that affected everything and everyone it touched, so the Guardian knew something had to be done. This Guardian, a brave and mysterious figure who had always watched over the city and its people, was now up against a very tough task. Under the clear sky, the Guardian swore to find a cure and bring the city back to its former glory, when the streets were full of people going about their daily lives and laughing and happiness filled the air. That night, a small visitor showed up out of the blue and asked for help. The Guardian didn't know where to start with this huge job. The bat wasn't like most bats, though. Like the people who lived in the city, this little creature changed after getting caught in the green mist. The mysterious mist had changed this bat's fur, which was now a beautiful shade of green instead of its normal dark, silky color. This bat wasn't scared, even though it was small and usually only coming out at night. It walked toward the Guardian, eyes full of determination and a quiet prayer for help. When the Guardian saw how strong this little bat was, they knew they weren't alone on their trip. There was a friend or partner ready to deal with the issues, even though it was foggy. At this very moment, the Guardian and the bat joined forces to make a strange pair. They were the best pair possible: one was strong and determined, and the other was a small but brave bird. They stood for the bravery and strength of the city as a whole, ready to face any difficulties that might come up. This new alliance gave people hope. The bat, with its unique skills and point of view, and the Guardian, with its strength and knowledge, set out to figure out what was going on in the green mist. People would go to places that no one had been before. They would go through magical forests, over mythical mountains, and into deep caves. They were ready to take on any task, figure out any puzzle, and get past any problem that stood in their way.

Book excerpt: 'Maternal Echoes' examines maternal imagery in the poetry of two French Romantic poets, the increasingly popular Desbordes-Valmore and the critically marginalized Lamartine. Drawing on psychoanalytic theories on the maternal voice as well as feminist criticism, the book argues that both poets find a voice of their own by echoing their mother's voice.

Book excerpt: A study of literary Naturalism in Spain (1860-1890). This book explores the polemic surrounding the introduction of literary Naturalism in Spain (1860-1890), during which traditional Spanish institutions and traditional forms of authority were displaced by a variety of forces that competed for authoritative status.
