Sample chapter: Book of John About this book John's Gospel is one of the four Gospels. 'Gospel' means 'good news'. The Gospels are the books that tell us about Jesus' life on earth. John was one of the three disciples who knew the Lord Jesus Christ best. John called himself 'the disciple that Jesus loved'. We think that John wrote his Gospel in the city called Ephesus. He wrote it some years after Matthew, Mark and Luke wrote their Gospels. He wrote it about 70 years after Christ's birth. John's Gospel is different from the other three Gospels. It does not describe many things that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke do describe. But it does include many things that are not in the other Gospels. John tells us much more about who Jesus was. John shows us Jesus as the Son of God - the only person who can cause us to live. John teaches us more about God's Spirit, too. At the beginning of his Gospel, John calls Jesus 'the Word'. Chapter 1 The Word became human 1 In the beginning, the Word was already there. The Word was with God. The Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 God made all things by the Word. God did not make anything without him. 4 It is the Word who causes us to live. And because of this, he was the light to all people. 5 The light shines in the dark, and the dark cannot put out the light.

This book was released on 2009-10-21 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A masterpiece of contemporary Bible translation and commentary."—Los Angeles Times Book Review, Best Books of 1999 Acclaimed for its masterful new translation and insightful commentary, The David Story is a fresh, vivid rendition of one of the great works in Western literature. Robert Alter's brilliant translation gives us David, the beautiful, musical hero who slays Goliath and, through his struggles with Saul, advances to the kingship of Israel. But this David is also fully human: an ambitious, calculating man who navigates his life's course with a flawed moral vision. The consequences for him, his family, and his nation are tragic and bloody. Historical personage and full-blooded imagining, David is the creation of a literary artist comparable to the Shakespeare of the history plays.

This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over four centuries, the Word of God was defined as the King James Version of the Bible. No other version has ever matched the beauty of its writing or the depth of its meaning. It is the most published and printed version of the Bible to this day. The King James Version contains the phrases and words that you grew up with and perhaps even memorized. The King James Version Easy Read (KJVER(R)) Bible uses the original 1611 King James Version text (based on the Textus Receptus--Received Text--rather than the revised 1881 Greek and Hebrew text), but it updates the language for the modern reader. Resources to enhance your biblical study are included, such as articles on the names and attributes of God, biblical terms and definitions, historical outlines, an extensive concordance, and detailed maps. Also the special Topical Concordance of Biblical Words, found at the end of this Bible, will provide countless aids for locating desired subjects and verses. The KJVER(R) Bible brings to life the King James Version, making it easier to use and understand. A key feature of the KJVER(R) Bible is the text style. Known as the King James Version Easy Read, it does not change the Word of God but helps explain difficult words and replaces clearly archaic or obsolete words. Not one word of doctrine has been changed. There are many other distinctive features of the KJVER(R) Bible: Words of God highlighted in red in the Old Testament Words of Jesus highlighted in red in the New Testament Difficult terms underlined and explained at the end of the verse. Archaic or obsolete words replaced with their modern equivalent Classic Doctrine unchanged

Book excerpt: Easy Bhagavad Gita : A Translation in Simple English Bhagavad Gita is one of the most celebrated sacred scriptures in Hinduism. More appropriately, someone can say, the Bhagavad Gita a small part of the vast Hindu scripture Mahabharata. It is the ultimate knowledge that was delivered to Arjuna just before the start of Mahabharata war by lord Krishna. It consists eighteen chapters and seven hundred verses in total. Each chapter has its own essence. If someone can consume the full knowledge of Bhagavad Gita, and leads his life accordingly, no doubt, his life will be easier than before. It is the key of ultimate success in life. There are numerous other translations also available in the market. But there is a problem. Since, it was originally written in an obsolete language Sanskrit, other authors tried to translate it maintaining the exact grammar and exact depiction of English words from Sanskrit. As a result, it becomes very difficult to understand for common people. The same is true when you try to read Bhagavad Gita in your mother language also. This book is written in a story telling way, thus you will not feel any pressure in your mind while reading it, and you will be able to understand the whole book perhaps for the first time. This book is even easier than those translations in your mother language. Moreover, this book is not only a religious book. It is a philosophy of life which is needed to know everyone in the world irrespective to his religion. The Bhagavad Gita has the answers to the following questions: How to do a work efficiently? Download or read book Simple English Bible New Testament OE written by and published by Ishi Press. This book was released on 2012 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Simple English Bible is a new translation of the Holy Bible. It is the result of an effort by several teams, not just one team, over a period of many years. The purpose was to reduce the Holy Bible to simple words not more than about six letters long. Any person with a Fifth Grade Reading Level and any foreign person who knows some English but is not fluent should be able to read and understand this Bible. A basic vocabulary of three thousand words was created for this Bible and this Bible only uses those words. Not only is this a reduction of the text to simpler words but it is also a completely new and original translation. Most other new editions of the Bible are simply rewrites of the well known King James Version of the Bible. By contrast, The Simple English Bible is an entirely new and original translation. This can be demonstrated by comparing almost any verse of the Bible.
