Download or read book Easter Passover Festivals of Hope written by Betsy Richardson and published by Mason Crest Publishers. This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since human beings first walked the Earth, spring has been a time to celebrate the renewal of the land. A time of longer days and warmer weather, spring, and the holidays celebrated during this season, inspire an apprectiation for renewal and rebirth. While today thousands of spring celebrations are enjoyed around the globe in the form of neo-pagan rites and environmental occasions such as Earth Day and Arbor Day, four festivals are widely observed by many cultures around the world-from Liechtenstein to India, Argentina to Zanzibar, and everywhere in between. These four are the Hindu celebration of Holi that originated in southern Asia, the Persian new year festival Navruz, the Jewish observance of Passover (or Pesach in Hebrew), and the Christian Easter celebration. This book discusses how these holidays encourage individuals to gather with family and friends, honor the sacrifices others have made, enjoy special foods, and exchange gifts or tokens of affection. Download or read book The Spring Connection written by Yasushi Nozawa and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-05 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why does the date of Easter change every year? Is there any connection between spring and Passover? If Jesus was crucified during Passover Sunday, why does Easter come before Passover sometimes? What is the relation between Bunnies and Easter or eggs and Easter? Why do Japanese celebrate a secular Vernal Equinox Day? The author has given answers to these questions, based on his research on the origin of spring celebration in different ancient civilizations. For instance, this book explains why gaps between stone pillars in Stonehenge pointed toward the direction of sunrise on the vernal equinox. The author also has presented his discovery on the origin of the Hebrew calendar and a new interpretation of the meaning of the Lord's Passover. His interpretation is potentially controversial since he has given a completely different meaning to the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt. This book will be entertaining and intellectually stimulating for people of all ages and readers of general interest. The author also believes this book might be especially attractive to rationalists and other open-minded people.

Book excerpt: Step Into The Story of Easter... As believers in Christ, we celebrate two major events annually on the church calendar: Christmas and Easter. Christmas observances are tied closely to home and church, with families having their own traditions at home as well as attending Christmas services together. However, Easter is usually only celebrated in a church service. Many families have an Easter meal together, but in our busy and fractured culture, that may not happen. Passover for Christians provides a designated time for families and friends to share a meal together and focus on the final week of Jesus's life. Jesus celebrated Passover all the years of His life, including the night before He died. It's our hope to show you how Passover can help make your Easter season more meaningful by allowing you to walk in Jesus's Jewish shoes. Passover is so much more than just a feast celebrating Israel's exodus from Egypt. It's a multi-sensory expression of our Christian faith and heritage. It's the story of Redemption, and it all takes place around the table. STEP INTO THE STORY and Experience a NEW Easter Tradition. This book also includes Christian Seder Guides (Complete & Abridged), a Children's Seder Guide, Suggested Menus and Recipes to equip you with all you need to know to conduct your own meaningful Passover Seder.

Download or read book Christ Our Passover written by Dianna L Zaragoza and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2024-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it's time for Easter eggs, baskets and bunnies, get ready for a fun, spiritually uplifting, Christ-focused Easter activity that will get the whole family involved! The Passover was intended to help the children of Israel recognize the Messiah when He came. The Jewish people (including Jesus Christ) have celebrated this holiday, and because of its rich symbolism of Christ's atonement, some Christians also celebrate with their own versions of the Passover at Easter. While serving my mission in the 1990's, I discovered for myself how symbolic the Passover is of the atonement of Jesus Christ and even the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ in the latter days. I discovered which item on the Seder represents the temple, and the huge role Elijah plays. With the help of my mission companion, we created a version specifically designed for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We tested it on our ward mission leader's family and some investigators, and they loved it! After my mission, I attended a fireside on the Passover held by fellow Latter-Day Saint and professional Israel tour guide Daniel Rona. He shared his experience creating his own "Latter-Day Saint" version of the Passover he celebrated as a Jew in Israel growing up. I felt excited about how close my version was to his. After many revisions, refinements and practice over 30 years with my own family, this Passover Haggadah now comes to your family. Haggadah is the Hebrew word that roughly means "order" and is the name for the book families of the Jewish faith follow during the Passover commemoration. This book will be your family's Haggadah, with recipes, decoration suggestions, songs, stories, and script that everyone takes part in. The house is cleaned, the table set. Mother lights the candles, and Father leads the family in prayer and leads though the Passover celebration. Every person reads along with their own copy of the Haggadah book. The evening ends with everyone not just being spiritually fed, but also ends in a delicious Easter meal. Plus, the children get a special surprise when they seek and find the symbol for Christ. Although I describe the "standard" here, I've organized this Haggadah to be adaptable to any familial situation. I hope that your family, friends and guests love celebrating this Easter Passover tradition every year as much as our family and friends do.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Passover and Easter constitute for Jews and Christians respectively the most important festivals of the year. Although sharing a common root, the feasts have developed in quite distinct ways in the two traditions, in part independently of one another and in part in reaction against the other. Following the pattern set in earlier volumes in this series, these two volumes bring together a group of distinguished Jewish and Christian scholars to explore the history of the two celebrations, paying particular attention to similarities and connections between them as well as to differences and contrasts. They not only present a convenient summary of current historical thought but also open up new perspectives on the evolution of these annual observances. Volume 5 in the series focuses especially on the origins and early development of the feasts and on the way that established practices have changed in recent years. Volume 6, also in the series, focuses on the contexts in which they occur—the periods of preparation for the feasts in the respective calendars and their connection to Shavuot/Pentecost—as well as to their traditional expression in art and music. At the same time, the essays raise some fundamental questions about the future. Have modern human beings so lost the sense of sacred time in their lives, for instance, that these great feasts can never again be what they once were for former generations of believers? And what about recent attempts by some Christians to enter into their heritage by celebrating a Jewish Seder as part of their annual Holy Week and Easter services? Specialists and general readers alike will find much to interest and challenge them within these two additions to what has become a highly regarded series in the world of liturgical scholarship.
