Download or read book Olefin Upgrading Catalysis by Nitrogen based Metal Complexes II written by Giuliano GIAMBASTIANI and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-05-21 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Olefin Upgrading Catalysis by Nitrogen-based Metal Complexes II: State-of-the-art and Perspectives provides a critical review of the state-of-the-art developments in industrially relevant processes connected to efficient and selective olefin upgrading. Specific attention is devoted to catalysts containing imine- and amine-based ligands. This book is an ideal accompaniment for researchers taking courses in olefin polymerization and also serves as a valuable resource for teachers and lecturers of chemistry when planning and researching material for advanced lecture courses.

Book Olefins Polymerization Reactivity of Niobium Based Metal Complexes

Download or read book Olefins Polymerization Reactivity of Niobium Based Metal Complexes written by Yogesh Raghunath Patil and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the synthesis and characterization of niobium-based metal complexes and their usefulness as catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene, norbornene, beta pinene and vinyl monomers. The polymerization of above described monomers was studied using niobium complexes based on N, N dialkylcarbamates, mixed chloro alkoxides, simple oxygen-containing ligands and the starting material for the preparation of such derivatives, i.e. NbCl5.Niobium N, N-dialkylcarbamates exhibited high activity for polymerization of ethylene when activated with TMA-depleted MAO and 1,2-dichloroethane as activator working at 1 bar ethylene pressure. These novel catalytic systems resulted very active in Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene (NBE)with the highest activity never reported up to now for any transition metal catalysts. The dinuclear niobium compounds and simple oxygen-containing derivatives of niobium pentachloride were tested for ethylene polymerization and produced satisfactory results. In this context, it was found that easily accessible NbCl5 works as an excellent catalyst for the polymerization of β-pinene styrene and butylvinyl ethers

Book Transition Metals and Organometallics as Catalysts for Olefin Polymerization

Download or read book Transition Metals and Organometallics as Catalysts for Olefin Polymerization written by Walter Kaminsky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 443 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than 30 years after the discovery of transition metals and organometal lics as catalysts for olefin polymerization these catalysts did not have lost their fascination. Since 1953 when Karl Ziegler has discovered the catalytic polymerization of ethylene leading to plastically formable polymers which are mechanically stable up to temperatures of about 100°C, synthetic polymers and rubbers have made their way right into private houses. This discovery has been a main impetus for the fast growing production of plastics. The stereoselective poly merization of propylene and other long-chain a-olefins first detected by Giulio Natta leads to an even broadened field of applications. Another enforcing factor were the developments of Standard Oil of Indiana and Phillipps Petroleum Company who engaged in the polymerization of a-olefins supported molybdenum, cobalt and later on chromium catalysts which clearly indicates the wide variety of suitable systems. This kind of research acknowledged merit when in 1963 the Nobel prize of chemistry was awarded to Ziegler and Natta. Although to a great extent there is a technical application for these catalysts, up to now the nature of the active centres and many reaction mechanisms are not completely known.

Book Early Transition Metal Catalysts for the Living Polymerization of Olefins and Alkynes

Download or read book Early Transition Metal Catalysts for the Living Polymerization of Olefins and Alkynes written by Jennifer Adamchuk and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Cont.) Quinuclidine adducts of Mo(NAr)(CHCMe3)(O-t-Bu)2 and Mo(NAr)(CHFc)(O-t-Bu)2 (Ar = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl) were prepared and used as catalysts for the cyclopolymerization of diethyl dipropargylmalonate (DEDPM). Mo(NAr)(trans-CHCHCHMe)(O-t-Bu)2(quin) and Mo(NAr)(CH[5])(O-t-Bu)2, a species containing a five-membered ring alkylidene group analogous to the alkylidene that results from the cyclopolymerization of 1 equivalent of DEDPM by Mo(NAr)(CHCR)(O-t-Bu)2, were also synthesized for use in DEDPM polymerization studies. These catalysts cyclopolymerized DEDPM to produce polyenes with very low PDI values and Mn(found)/Mn(calculated) ratios 1.1. Ratios of the rate of propagation relative to initiation for these catalysts were less than 1, enabling the synthesis, isolation, and analysis of short oligomers. The initiation and polymerization processes were studied in detail using NMR spectroscopy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic Polymers focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and potential applications of organometallic polymers. The discussion is organized around seven themes: vinyl polymerization of organometallic monomers; condensation polymerization of organometallic monomers; polymer-bound catalysts; applications of organotin polymers; developments in organosilicon polymers; phosphonitrile and sulfur nitride polymers; and coordination polymers. This book is comprised of 33 chapters and begins with a general review of polymerized vinyl monomers containing transition metals, as well as the reactivity of such monomers in addition to homo- and copolymerizations. The following chapters explore the participation of the ferrocene nucleus in the polymerization of vinylferrocene and its effect on polymer properties; thermomechanical transitions of ferrocene-containing polymers; photocrosslinkable organometallic polyesters; and supported catalysts for ethylene polymerization. The remaining sections discuss antifouling applications of various tin-containing organometallic polymers; structure and applications of polyphosphazenes and polymeric sulfur nitride; and coordination of inorganic ions to polymers. This monograph will be a useful resource for organic chemists and research workers in the field.
