ABOUT THE BOOKS LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 of the ROAD TRIP READERS *provide short, sharp reading experiences brimming with success for beginning readers; *include very supportive illustrations beside only one or two lines of repetitive text on each page in LEVEL 1, and only three lines in LEVEL 2; *have large print, as well as double spacing between words and lines; *gradually introduce sight words in each book (no more than three at LEVEL 1 or five at LEVEL 2). Sight words are frequently used words which can be remembered as a whole and recognized quickly by sight. From LEVEL 3 onwards, the ROAD TRIP READERS continue to have supportive illustrations and a measured introduction of new sight words. There are also more pages and the text becomes less repetitive, with more of a story line. Any new skill requires a great deal of practice and reading is no different.
