Book E Procurement Success

Download or read book E Procurement Success written by Jason R. Eaton and published by . This book was released on 2003-03-01 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Air Force currently funds projects chartered with studying and developing e-Procurement systems. Through review and analysis of various e- Procurement projects, factors attributing to successful implementation of e- Procurement systems will be deduced and provided as a useful guide for federal agencies initiating e-Procurement projects. By identifying critical success factors this research should: 1) improve preimplementation planning, 2) improve spend decisions, and 3) decrease implementation time by eliminating unnecessary steps. This research utilized the current literature to identify specific factors important in the e-Procurement implementation process. Once the factors were determined, a survey was developed to measure the factors in organizations with an e-Procurement system. All fifty state governments were contacted to determined if they had implemented e-Procurement systems and, if they responded affirmatively, were surveyed regarding what they have identified as the factors most instrumental in their e-Procurement implementation. The survey looked specifically at six key areas of e-Procurement implementation: 1) technology, 2) management, 3) processes, 4) suppliers, 5) budget, and 6) benefits. Each organization's tangible and intangible benefits were assessed to further substantiate the value organizations should be getting from e-Procurement.

Book Successful Use of Eprocurement in Supply Chains

Download or read book Successful Use of Eprocurement in Supply Chains written by Rainer Alt and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose - Electronic support of internal supply chains for direct or production goods has been a major element during the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems that has taken place since the late 1980s. However, supply chains to indirect material suppliers were not usually included due to low transaction volumes, low product values and low strategic importance of these goods. Dedicated information systems for streamlining indirect goods supply chains have emerged since the late 1990s and subsequently have faced a broad diffusion in practice. The concept of these e-procurement solutions has also been described broadly in the literature. However, studies on how companies use these e-procurement solutions and what factors are critical to their implementation are only emerging. This research aims to explore the introduction of e-procurement systems and their contribution to the management of indirect goods supply chain.Design/Methodology/Approach - Chooses a two-part qualitative approach. First, summarizes the results of a benchmarking study that was conducted by a consortium of 12 multinational companies. During the benchmarking process 120 questionnaires were distributed, ten phone-based interviews were conducted, and finally five successful practice companies were selected and analyzed in detail. Second, draws together the success factors identified in the benchmarking study and maps them against the successful practice companies.Findings - Although e-procurement has substantially streamlined the procurement and coordination processes for indirect goods, many companies operate multiple e-procurement solutions. For integrated procurement solutions, the paper recognizes the need of an overall procurement strategy and organization, an alignment of various e-procurement solutions along the procurement process and the need for integrated system architectures. Companies also have to realize that a no standardized e-procurement solutions exists and that important success factors are “non-technical” in nature.Originality/Value - This paper presents a first step towards a systematic analysis of factors that may guide companies in the implementation of e-procurement solutions. Besides providing a direct contribution to the project work in companies it may stimulate further research in e-procurement success factors.

Book E Procurement Implementation

Download or read book E Procurement Implementation written by Dr Panda (Prabir) and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty-first century has seen the migration of many governance functions and services to the Internet. The terms like e-governance and m-governance are no longer unfamiliar words but are a political reality. The adoption of e-procurement by government entities to optimize and economize public procurements has been the buzzword of transparent governance. In fact, e-procurement has been touted as the panacea for issues like corruption and bureaucratic red-tapism. Literature is replete with studies which underline numerous benefits of migration of procurement functions to the Internet. However, e-Government Procurement (e-GP) has not taken off in India, though it is an integrated mission mode project as a part of the National e-Governance Project (NeGP) launched by the Government of India in 2006. A recent review of the e-procurement implementation by the Government of India brought out that the progress of e-procurement project implementation has been dismal. Against this backdrop, the study aims to identify the Critical Success Factors (CSF) for e-procurement project implementation. The research methodology followed included a detailed analysis of e-procurement CSFs reported in research literature and qualitative study of a few successful e-procurement implementations in India. The study concludes that the existing CSFs and their study models do not take the cultural and project context dimensions into account. Therefore, the existing body of knowledge does not aid managerial decision making. Finally, the paper brings out research gaps and suggests directions for future research.

Download or read book Challenges of E Procurement adoption in a private Bank in Tanzania written by Ikandilo Kushoka and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2005 in the subject Business economics - Supply, Production, Logistics, Institute of Accountancy Arusha, course: Supply Chain Management, language: English, abstract: This study is about the challenges of adoption of e-procurement in a private bank in Tanzania, specifically at CRDB bank Plc, Dar es Salaam. The specific objectives were to find out if the procurement officers have necessary skills to facilitate the use of e-procurement, to examine the extent of availability of technological infrastructure to support e-procurement and to identify challenges facing CRDB bank in adopting e-procurement. The research design used was case study and a sample of 20 respondents was used. Data were collected using questionnaire and interview. The analysis of findings was done using descriptive statistics and narrative notes whereby tables and charts were used. Findings of the study showed that CRDB bank has started to procure online recently and for now it partially procures online. IT infrastructure in the bank strongly supports the adoption of e-procurement. Nevertheless, e-procurement has been seen as strategically important and it is driven by management. The bank personnel have the skills needed to cope with the changes. Conclusively, the study shows that the adoption of e-procurement in private sectors particularly in CRDB bank is feasible. The important thing is for the organizations and their managements to take initiatives on how to improve the facilitation of e-procurement. Furthermore, the researcher recommends that managements should make a cost benefit analysis on e-procurement, improve their technological infrastructure, organize trainings for staffs and improve the networks and systems in order to make e-procurement a success.

Book International Handbook of Public Procurement

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the 1990s, government at all levels is under increasing pressure to do more with less. However, despite the U.S. government spending about 15 to 20 percent of its GDP on contracts for goods and services, there is a paucity of reference books for public procurement officials and very few textbooks for courses on the subject. Filling this void, the International Handbook of Public Procurement provides the knowledge necessary to understand how procurement works and how to improve the cost-effectiveness of procurement systems. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, the book focuses on the managerial, economic, political, and legal aspects of this topic. It begins with a conceptual framework and highlights various reforms occurring in certain countries. By examining these improvements, readers are able to apply this knowledge to their own strategies. The next section presents selected cases that illustrate the public procurement process, examining systems in various nations including Germany, China, South Africa, Cambodia, Uganda, and Estonia. The book also discusses the rise of electronic procurement systems (E-procurement) and reviews the benefits of these efficient systems. Other topics presented in this comprehensive volume include practical discussions on contract negotiations, bidding, price strategies and cost analysis, and an insightful chapter on the market’s response to contract award announcements. A virtual encyclopedia from numerous international experts, this book was assembled by Khi V. Thai, Professor at Florida Atlantic University and Editor of the Journal of Public Procurement. Dr. Thai has provided technical assistance in the area of public procurement to governments across the world. Empowering those on all sides of the issue, this volume dispenses advice valuable to government officials and contractors, as well as providing a comprehensive text for public administration students.
