Download or read book Dynamometer written by Jyotindra S. Killedar and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-10-25 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It all began way back in 1984 when I began my career in the field of dynamometer and engine testing when after years of gut-feeling and study I realized that there is a need for a book on dynamometer and its application to engine testing. As automotive and dynamometer industry is growing worldwide the concern eventually became so great I felt a book devoted to the subject was warranted. The book Dynamometer-Theory and Application to Engine Testing is a book dedicated to various dynamometers and how they are applied to engine testing. The book also discusses the essentials of modern test cell and the instrumentation, data acquisition system and other accessories that are employed in modern test cell. After having worked in the filed of industrial compressors, pumps, material handling equipment, dynamometer field and software industry I decided to write this book which will help the people working in the automotive industry, engine and vehicle testing, people working in the dynamometer and instrumentation industry and electrical motor industry. The book will be of interest to the studenrs of mechanical and automobile engineering. The book will be of great value to the incumbents entering in the automotive and dynamometer fields.

Book Diesel Engine Transient Operation

Download or read book Diesel Engine Transient Operation written by Constantine D. Rakopoulos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-03-10 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditionally, the study of internal combustion engines operation has focused on the steady-state performance. However, the daily driving schedule of automotive and truck engines is inherently related to unsteady conditions. In fact, only a very small portion of a vehicle’s operating pattern is true steady-state, e. g. , when cruising on a motorway. Moreover, the most critical conditions encountered by industrial or marine engines are met during transients too. Unfortunately, the transient operation of turbocharged diesel engines has been associated with slow acceleration rate, hence poor driveability, and overshoot in particulate, gaseous and noise emissions. Despite the relatively large number of published papers, this very important subject has been treated in the past scarcely and only segmentally as regards reference books. Merely two chapters, one in the book Turbocharging the Internal Combustion Engine by N. Watson and M. S. Janota (McMillan Press, 1982) and another one written by D. E. Winterbone in the book The Thermodynamics and Gas Dynamics of Internal Combustion Engines, Vol. II edited by J. H. Horlock and D. E. Winterbone (Clarendon Press, 1986) are dedicated to transient operation. Both books, now out of print, were published a long time ago. Then, it seems reasonable to try to expand on these pioneering works, taking into account the recent technological advances and particularly the global concern about environmental pollution, which has intensified the research on transient (diesel) engine operation, typically through the Transient Cycles certification of new vehicles.

Book The Theory and Practice of Hydrodynamics and Vibration

Download or read book The Theory and Practice of Hydrodynamics and Vibration written by Subrata Kumar Chakrabarti and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2002 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the basics of the hydrodynamics and vibration of structures subjected to environmental loads. It describes the interaction of hydrodynamics with the associated vibration of structures, giving simple explanations. Emphasis is placed on the applications of the theory to practical problems. Several case studies are provided to show how the theory outlined in the book is applied in the design of structures. Background material needed for understanding fluid-induced vibrations of structures is given to make the book reasonably self-sufficient. Examples are taken mainly from the novel structures that are of interest today, including ocean and offshore structures and components. Besides being a text for undergraduates, this book can serve as a handy reference for design engineers and consultants involved in the design of structures subjected to dynamics and vibration.
