Download or read book Dynamique des communications dans les groupes 7e d written by Gilles Amado and published by Armand Colin. This book was released on 2017-09-20 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Managers are confronted with many difficult demands which are still unknown to them. Gaining a better knowledge for unconscious ways of human behavior and their motivations is very important. This book introduces research work to European readers by selected contributions from leading psychoanalytically oriented management theorists and clinicians. The authors deal with different topics such as leadership, corporate culture, family business, organizational stress, career dynamics and so on. All of them try to win an understanding and insight into conscious, unconscious, rational and irrational behavior. The purpose of this book is fulfilled if this knowledge can be practiced in order to achieve improvements for the cooperation between people in general.

Book Negotiating with Terrorists

Download or read book Negotiating with Terrorists written by Guy Olivier Faure and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2010-02-25 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume addresses the important issue of negotiating with terrorists, and offers recommendations for best practice and processes. Hostage negotiation is the process of trying to align two often completely polarised parties. Authorities view hostage taking as unacceptable demands made by unacceptable means. However terrorists view their actions as completely justified, even on moral and religious grounds. If they are to try and reconcile these two sides, it is essential for hostage negotiators to understand terrorist culture, the hostage takers’ profiles, their personality, their view of the world and also the authorities, their values and their framing of the problem raised by the taking of hostages. Although not advocating negotiating with terrorists, the volume seeks to analyse when, why, and how it is done. Part I deals with the theory and quantifiable data produced from analysis of hostage situations, while Part II explores several high profile case studies and the lessons that can be learnt from them. This volume will be of great interest to students of terrorism studies, conflict management, negotiation, security studies and IR in general. I William Zartman is the Jacob Blaustein Distinguished Professor Emeritus of International Organization and Conflict Resolution and former Director of the Conflict Management and African Studies Programs, at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, Washington, DC. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Processes of International Negotiation (PIN) Program at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria. He is author/editor of over 20 books on negotiation, conflict and mediation. Guy Olivier Faure is Professor of Sociology at the Sorbonne University, Paris I, and a member of the Steering Committee of the Processes of International Negotiation (PIN) Program at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria. He has served as an advisor to French government on hostage negotiations.

Book excerpt: Communication Processes contains the proceedings of a Symposium on Communication Processes held in Washington, D.C. held in 1963 under the auspices of the NATO Science Committee. The symposium provided a forum for discussing communication processes, with participants exploring a wide range of topics organized around data presentation and transmission; language barriers and language training; group communication; and man-computer communication. This volume is comprised of 19 chapters and begins with an overview of research in communication processes, followed by a discussion on the role of science and technology in the Atlantic community. The next chapter is devoted to data presentation, with emphasis on information processing and human factor problems, including the role of redundancy in improving perceptual discrimination. The role of the human operator with respect to the use of speech, the use of keyboards and continuous controls, and the monitoring of some automatic process is then examined. Subsequent chapters deal with the language barrier as an obstacle to communication and how language training can help overcome it; group communication; and man-computer communication. The nature of human-computer interaction and the problems of man-computer communications are examined. This book will be helpful to practitioners and researchers of communication.
