Download or read book Entrepreneurship Training in Rural Parts of Bihar India written by Tobias Aberle and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-05-11 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tobias Aberle examines how an entrepreneurship training helps disadvantaged youths in rural parts of Bihar, India, to cope with structural conditions that enable or constrain them. The present research reveals that young entrepreneurs can be divided into two groups: those who developed personal initiative and thus coped with limiting structural conditions very proactively, and those who solely behaved in a reactive way. For many entrepreneurs, the self-employed activity was only a Plan B, as in reality they sought for high-prestige career jobs. IFor entrepreneurship training to become a tool of empowerment, the range of training must be significantly adjusted in accordance with young trainees’ social and educational backgrounds. In addition, a functioning ecosystem for entrepreneurship education must be in place, which ensures support for individual entrepreneurs through mentorship and networks.

Download or read book Enhancing Agricultural Productivity and Farmer Incomes in Bihar written by Bhaumik, Sankar Kumar and published by SAGE Publishing India. This book was released on 2022-11-28 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enhancing Agricultural Productivity and Farmer Incomes in Bihar discusses the performance of Bihar's agriculture sector in recent times and the multifarious challenges it is facing. The book explores future possibilities from the perspectives of raising agricultural productivity and farmer incomes and attaining inclusive growth. Given that doubling farmers' incomes in India is the declared agenda of the central and state governments, the insights to be gained from this book would be invaluable for researchers and policymakers. With more than 90 per cent of the operational holdings in Bihar falling under the 'marginal' category and the average size of a holding being a meagre 0.39 hectares, the viability of the small-farming regime in the state is a serious issue. This book will help readers to understand the developmental challenges not only in Bihar but also in other agriculturally backward regions that are largely dominated by small farmers. It will also help researchers to locate areas in which more research needs to be undertaken if accelerated growth of the agriculture sector and sustainable improvement of farmers' incomes are to be ensured.

Download or read book Employment Guarantee Programme and Dynamics of Rural Transformation in India written by Madhusudan Bhattarai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-08 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an assessment of the performance, impact, and welfare implications of the world’s largest employment guarantee programme, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Launched by the Indian government, the programme covers entire rural area of the country. The book presents various micro-level analyses of the programme and its heterogeneous impacts at different scales, almost a decade after its implementation. While there are some doubts over the future of the scheme as well as its magnitude, nature and content, the central government appears committed to it, as a ‘convergence scheme’ of various other welfare and rural development programmes being implemented at both national and state level. The book discusses the outcomes of the programme and offers critical insights into the lessons learnt, not only in the context of India, but also for similar schemes in countries in South and South-East Asia as well as in Africa, and Latin America. Adopting inter-disciplinary perspectives in analysing these issues, this unique book uses a judicious mix of methods---integrating quantitative and qualitative tools---and will be an invaluable resource for analysts, NGOs, policymakers and academics alike.
