Book Dynamic Fatigue Testing Machine

Download or read book Dynamic Fatigue Testing Machine written by Munir Chaer and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A dynamic testing fatigue was designed, built and utilized to produce data sets that pertain to the stresses applied on a specimen, along with the number of cycles it takes to eventually meet fatigue failure. To that end, an aluminum alloy specimen successfully had its S-N Curve (Strength Vs. Endurance: Number of Cycles) graphed by collecting relevant data points through several trials at varying loads of stress. While an aluminum alloy was used to verify that the machine is capable of producing the necessary data, this setup is capable of testing many other materials and producing their particular S-N curves. When compared with the theoretically estimated values, the experiment values sported a percentage error ranging from 11.34 % ~16.58% which can be explained due to the presence of frictional/vibration losses.

Book Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results

Download or read book Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results written by W. Weibull and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fatigue Testing and Analysis of Results discusses fundamental concepts of fatigue testing and results analysis. The book begins with a description of the symbols and nomenclature selected for the present book, mainly those proposed by the ASTM Committee E-9 on Fatigue. Fatigue testing methods are then discussed including routine tests, short-life and long-life tests, cumulative-damage tests, and abbreviated and accelerated tests. Separate chapters cover fatigue testing machines and equipment; instruments and measuring devices; and test pieces used in fatigue testing. The factors affecting test results are considered, including material, types of stressing, test machine, environment, and testing technique. The final two chapters cover the planning of test programs and the presentation of results. Test program planning involves the statistical design of a test series; specification and sampling of test pieces; and choice of test pieces, testing machines, and test conditions. The chief purpose of most fatigue tests is the experimental determination of the relation between the endurance and the magnitude of the applied stress range for the material and the specimen under consideration, and final results can be condensed into a table, graph, or analytical expression.

Book Full Scale Fatigue Testing of Components and Structures

Download or read book Full Scale Fatigue Testing of Components and Structures written by K. J. Marsh and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-scale Fatigue Testing of Components and Structures presents the approaches to the testing of full-scale components or structures. The book begins by examining the necessity or desirability of full-scale fatigue testing. Subsequent chapters are devoted to the discussion of fatigue testing done on aircraft structures, railway components, helicopter rotor heads, artillery gun structures, and bridge components. The role of full-scale fatigue testing on automotive components and systems, structural testing in nuclear engineering, and the use of a structural fatigue testing laboratory for other tests are covered as well. Engineers, materials scientists, and researchers in the field of fatigue testing will find the book very useful.

Book Designing a Control for a Material Fatigue Testing Machine

Download or read book Designing a Control for a Material Fatigue Testing Machine written by Jörg Henseler and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2002-09-10 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Diploma Thesis from the year 2001 in the subject Electrotechnology, grade: 1,3 (A), University of Kaiserslautern (Escuela Superior de Ingenieros de Sevilla, Spain), course: Semester Final Paper, language: English, abstract: PROJECT DESCRIPTION One main field of activity of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros de Sevilla is material fatigue testing. In order to evaluate material characteristics under specified conditions, material probes are outset to biaxial movements, i.e. traction or pressure, and torsion. The machines for this particular application typically use hydraulics for the power generation; the exact movement is achieved by servo-ventils. Industrial manufacturers demand at least 300.000 € for building a machine like that. This appears very expensive, keeping in mind the very basic task of the machine. Whereas a university of western industrialized countries may bear inversions like that, for universities of third world it is hardly possible to procure such a machine. This was the motivation for the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros de Sevilla to start a project in order to find a cheap as well as reliable solution for biaxial material fatigue testing.
