Book Workflow Management Systems for Process Organisations

Download or read book Workflow Management Systems for Process Organisations written by Thomas Schael and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the business environment has become more and more turbulent over the past decade, information technology has begun to run into the danger of becoming an impediment rather than a motor of progress. In order to deal with the need for rapid, continuous change, computer science is challenged to develop novel interrelated information and communication technologies, and to align them with the social needs of co-operating user groups, as well as the management requirements of formal organisations. Workflow systems are among the most advertised technologies addressing this trend, but they mean different things to different people. Computer scientists understand workflows as a way to extract control from application programs, thus making them more flexible. Bureaucratic organisations (and most commercial products) perceive them as supporting a linear or branching flow of documents from one workplace to another - the next try after the failure cf office automation. This book takes another perspective, that of the modem customer-driven and groupwork-oriented process organisation. Extending the language-action perspective from the CSCW field, its customer-oriented view of workflows enables novel kinds of business process analysis, and leads to interesting new combinations of information and co-operation technologies. Schal's empirical studies show some of the pitfalls resulting from a naive use of these technologies, and exemplify ways to get around these pitfalls.

Book China s Belt And Road Initiative And Rmb Internationalization

Download or read book China s Belt And Road Initiative And Rmb Internationalization written by Gang Meng and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2019-10-30 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chinese economy has long been emphasizing globalization. Many factors including domestic currency policies, exchange policies and cross-border capital flow are becoming increasingly complex. Therefore, China is steadily pushing forward RMB internationalization to meet the market requirements emerging from global cooperation that has resulted from the Belt and Road Initiative. In the perspective of currency development, the internationalization of RMB is a general trend and a historical choice. As an important measure of China to fully open up and integrate with international community, the Belt and Road Initiative intends to effectively connect relevant countries, from different areas such as policies, roads, trade, capital and popular support. The financial cooperation based on domestic currencies is an important aspect of the Belt and Road Initiative, and an important means to meet the financial needs of various countries. Financing of Belt and Road Initiative-related projects is clearly helpful for China in adopting more active policies in capital account convertibility and RMB internationalization and to accelerate the process of RMB internationalization.

Book Credit Reporting Systems and the International Economy

Download or read book Credit Reporting Systems and the International Economy written by Margaret J. Miller and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2003 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first comprehensive review of credit reporting systems worldwide, including their institutional forms and evidence of their impact on financial markets. Credit reporting is a critical part of the financial system in most developed economies but is often weak or absent in developing countries. It addresses a fundamental problem of credit markets: asymmetric information between borrowers and lenders that can lead to adverse selection and moral hazard. The heart of a credit report is the record it provides of an individual's or a firm's payment history, which enables lenders to evaluate credit risk more accurately and lower loan processing time and costs. Credit reports also strengthen borrower discipline, since nonpayment with one institution results in sanctions with others. This book provides the first comprehensive review of credit reporting systems worldwide and documents the rapid growth in the industry. It offers empirical and theoretical evidence of the impact of credit reporting on financial markets, using examples from both developed and developing economies. Credit reporting, it shows, significantly contributes to predicting default risk of potential borrowers, which promotes increased lending activity. The book also covers the role of public policy in the development of credit reporting initiatives, including the role of public credit registries managed by central banks; and the role of legal, regulatory, and institutional factors in supporting credit reporting.
