Book Dust that dances in a ray of light

Download or read book Dust that dances in a ray of light written by Lisa Luzzi and published by Youcanprint. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Of all the works of Oscar Wilde, his long letter, written during imprisonment entitled De Profundis, is perhaps less known, but without a doubt, it is the richest and truest of all his bibliography. De Profundis is like a photograph showing a perfect correspondence between art and life, that in Wilde became tragedy, a place in which words have the unbearable weight of the truth. Each page is filled with pain and hope, and the author digs, in this interpretation absolutely unique and original, in a mosaic of lives and events that will show the most human aspects of a writer who incisively marked an age. Analysing this long letter, is like attending a play in which, at every act, a different character offers us the sight on his life And Oscar, on the entry threshold, with his lilac carnation, smokes a cigarette and tells us his truest story.

Book Sporadic Rays of Light Through the Thicket

Download or read book Sporadic Rays of Light Through the Thicket written by Niki Nicholas Nkuna and published by Partridge Africa. This book was released on 2014-10-22 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The poems in this book capture the poets inclination to talk matters of decorum in all chance encounters. He resents misdemeanor of any kind. Writing poetry presents him with the opportunity to discredit misdemeanor and get satisfaction due to dearth of debate. Through poetry and other writings, hes tirelessly endeavoring to highlight and discredit misdemeanor and proffer valuable ideas about a variety of issues that affect people in general. Theres also an obvious sense and trace of spiritual conviction in the sporadic rays through the thicket of life. This poetry collection would obviously serve as a motivating tool to the reader. It contains valuable lessons about life, mostly about the dos and donts, what is right or wrong, the beauty and ugliness of life, in things and people. Conspicuous by title are poems like, Change, which talks about the inevitability of change, and Only God Knows, which tells you not to agonise about tomorrow, rather worry about the now (God will take care of tomorrow, for Hes the only one that knows what tomorrow holds for us and what will happen). After All Thats What She Would Want from Me is a poem of encouragement to help people overcome grief about a loved one who has passed on. The rays are plenty in this book. Use them to illuminate your way through the thicket of life.

Book Songs for Children of Light

Download or read book Songs for Children of Light written by James H. Kurt and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2004-01-14 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work began with the taking of notes on insights and observations derived from contemplation of the Bible, my own life, and the death of my sister. The writings were initially oriented toward the composition of a filmscript, whose purpose was to depict, abstractly, scenes common to the lives of all mankind from birth to death. In February of 1984, well over a year into this project, these lyrics began to pour forth from me. Three-quarters of them were finished before the end of the month. During this period of my life, I underwent an intense conversion to purity of soul. I immersed myself in the practice of all the artistic mediums, including painting and sculpture, poetry, music, dance, and drama. Striving to be an artist for Christ, my life became as a cross between graduate student, monk, and convict. This way of living and working continued for seven years and resulted in the creation of the large manuscript, Songs for Children of Light: Ten Albums of Lyrics, Music, Dance, and Drama. In this volume, I present the lyric portion of the project with accompanying illustrations. May the Light of the Spirit be with you as you read the words herein. James Kurt June 23, 1995

Book Cinema Illuminating Reality

Download or read book Cinema Illuminating Reality written by Victor Fan and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on 2022-03-29 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new critical approach to cinema and media based on Buddhism as a philosophical discourse How can a philosophical discourse generated in Asia help us reframe and renew cinema and media theory? Cinema Illuminating Reality provides a possible way to do this by using Buddhist ideas to examine the intricate relationship between technicity and consciousness in the cinema. The resulting dialogue between Buddhism and Euro-American philosophy is the first of its kind in film and media studies. Victor Fan examines cinema’s ontology and ontogenetic formation and how such a formational process produces knowledge, political agency, and in-aesthetics. Buddhism allows Fan to deconstruct binary thinking and reimagine media as an ecology, rethinking cinema in relational terms between the human and the machine. Along the way, Fan considers a wide variety of case studies from around the globe, while paying special attention to how contemporary Tibeto-Sinophone filmmakers have adopted relational thinking to detail ways of rebuilding a world that appears to be beyond repair. From Chinese queer cinema to a reexamination of Japanese master Ozu’s work and its historical reception to Christian Petzold’s 2018 existential thriller Transit, CinemaIlluminating Reality forges a remarkable path between Buddhist studies and cinema studies, casting vital new light on both of these important subjects.
