Book Du temps biologique au temps psychologique

Download or read book Du temps biologique au temps psychologique written by Paul Fraisse and published by FeniXX. This book was released on 1978-12-31T23:00:00+01:00 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of the International Workshop on Time, Mind, and Behavior, which was held at the University of Groningen in September 1984. The aim of the workshop was to produce an up to date review of the state of the art in the field of time psychology. The rapid development of a cognitive outlook in experimental psychology has, among other things, un derlined the need for a reconsideration of time experience, the coding and representation of temporal information, and the timing of complex re sponses. Since the publication of Paul Fraisse's classical Psychologie du Temps in 1957, time psychology has slowly but steadily drawn an in creasing amount of attention, to a point where it now seems to be incorpo rated into the mainstream of research. At the same time a noticeable ten dency for a renewed general interest in time can also be traced in several other disciplines. These two observations supported our belief that it was time for a review of the sort we had in mind. At the close of 1983 we completed a project supported by the Dutch Organization for the Advancement of Pure Research in which we had stud ied the coding and retrieval of temporal information. This provided us with a plausible pretense for organizing a workshop. Around Christmas time 1983 we were able to mail a preliminary invitation to a number of our colleagues whom we knew to be currently active in the field.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the outcome of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop on Time, Action and Cognition. which was held in Saint-Malo, France, in October 1991. The theme - time in action and cognition of time - was sparked by growing awareness in informal meetings between mostly French-speaking time psychologists of the need to bring together time specialists in the areas of development, motor behavior, attention, memory and representations. The workshop was designed to be a forum where different theoretical points of view and a variety of empirical approaches could be presented and discussed. Time psychologists tended to draw conclusions restricted to their specific fields of interest. From our own experience, we felt that addressing a common issue - possible relationships between time in action and representations of time - could lead to a more comprehensive approach. We are endebted to NATO for allowing us to bring this idea to fruition. We take this opportunity as well to express our thanks to Cognisciences ( Cognisud section) -- an active interdisciplinary research organization - for its financial backing and the CNRS for its scientific support.

Download or read book The Children of Time written by Rémy Lestienne and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 1995 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A work of scientific substance and critical wisdom, developed in the urbane idiom of a French scholar." -- J. T. Fraser, founder, International Society for the Study of Time "This is the book for those of us who couldn't wade completely through Hawking's A Brief History of Time and now have it collecting dust on our bookshelves. Well written, thought-provoking, and, most important, understandable." -- Michael Epstein, analytical spectroscopist/chemist, National Institute of Standards and Technology What is time? Does it really pass? These and other fascinating questions about the nature of time animate a continuing philosophical and scientific debate. In this popular French book, now available for the first time in English; my Lestienne moves to make the bewildering concepts of time accessible--and interesting. He uses Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and others to demonstrate how the concepts of causality and entropy became so pervasive that they eventually were substituted for time itself. He also shows how recent advances in astronomy, particle physics, developmental life sciences, and the neurosciences are helping to shape a new philosophical vision of time.

Book Behaviour Analysis in Theory and Practice

Download or read book Behaviour Analysis in Theory and Practice written by Derek E. Blackman and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-05-24 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited book addresses four themes of contemporary importance in the experimental and applied analysis of behaviour: chronobiology (relationships between time and behaviour), the emergence of rational thinking, language, and behavioural medicine. The current empirical and theoretical status of each theme is considered in individual chapters, the authors of which are distinguished research scientists drawn from a wide range of scholarship and with a distinctive European dimension. This cultural and theoretical diversity emerges from the fact that each chapter is developed from a paper originally presented by invitation at the Second European Meeting on the Experimental Analysis of Behaviour, which was held in Liège, Belgium in 1988. Within the four themes, individual topics address issues such as circadian rhythms in behaviour, temporal regulation in children and in animals, the emergence of equivalence relations in children and animals, the development of thinking in mentally retarded children, reasoning and associative learning in animals, rule?governed behaviour, theoretical issues relating language to the theory of mind, the relationship between behavioural and visceral functions, the relevance of behavioural approaches to the prevention of AIDS, and the development of self?detection skills for breast cancer. The book makes an important contribution to the literature of contemporary behaviour analysis by reviewing issues of current interest and importance from a broad theoretical base.

Book La dur e et le probl me psychologique du temps

Download or read book La dur e et le probl me psychologique du temps written by Pierre Janet and published by Primento Digital sprl. This book was released on 2022-03-30 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
