Book excerpt: JOHNSTONE COUNTRY. TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK. Some call it the most dangerous stagecoach in the West. But the hard-driving owners of the Frontier Overland Company will get you where you want to go—if you don’t mind a detour through hell . . . The Civil War is over. But Wyoming Territory is still a battleground for the native tribes who live there. Most folks avoid the area like the plague. But not former Texas Ranger Butch Keeler and his saloon fight buddy Tucker Cobb. They figured Wyoming would be the perfect place to launch the Frontier Overland Company—a rough-and-ready stagecoach operation that dares to go where others fear to tread. Butch and Cobb aren’t afraid of much—but their next stagecoach trip could change all that. And it just might be their last . . . The passengers are good people: Colonel McBride, who’s delivering much-needed supplies to Fort Washington, and his lovely niece, who wants to visit her dying father. Even though the road to get there is overrun with armed Lakota, Cheyenne, and other deadly threats, Butch and Cobb are determined to help an old friend. Problem is, their worst enemy—a power-hungry business rival and self-described “King”—is out there. Waiting for them. Laying a trap to destroy their operation. And plotting to burn everything to the ground. Over Butch and Cobb’s dead bodies . . .

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vic Nippert brings us more of his ramblings through life, from experiences he’s had raising dogs to feeding crows, and from dealing with dust bunnies’ rejection to butterflies in flight and migration. And much more including Valentine covered underwear! More Musings and Poetry is a continuation of the book Musings written by Vic Nippert and published by Covenant Books. A collection of articles written for his church’s newsletter. More Musings and Poetry includes some of the poems he has written that were begun as a result of rough times in his later years, some of the things we will all face or have already done so no matter what our ages. Many of the articles were inspired by his own view of the energy and panoramic surroundings of his Hudson Valley home. An expanse with important historic legends and stories from Rip Van Winkle, The Revolutionary War, the first steamboat, mansions of millionaires along the Hudson River to contemporary changes in towns and cities undergoing organic trans-formations on the banks up the Hudson River. But the people and their viewpoints and behavior change slower than the building construction and store fronts around them and it’s the people that Vic observes that he writes about and the meaning of their lives. And his life too. The famous writer J.R.R. Tolkien wrote in The Fellowship of the Ring a much-used quote, “Not all who wander are lost.” And this is the goal of many of Vic’s writings and musings. Each one of us has an observation about our goals in life and how we may or may not succeed in reaching them. But we all are looking for our own meaning in life and it may take some time to attain what that goal is. Many times, the wandering can be quite amusing, teaching us that the voyage itself was the real goal all along. Enjoy!

Glancing down at flower beds wherefrom, orphans awaken out of acidic soils, watered with the tears of somber mothers surrendered to gated communities Father, somewhere to be lost and thus, nowhere to be found And such is the wind, braiding the hair of weeping willows on the cracked stoops of reality And I see Uncle Sam peddling dime bags of patriotism to dismembered veterans returning from war

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "An entertaining story with lots of plot twists." --Booklist The Greatest Western Writer Of The 21st Century In a small Texas town in 1950, a Pinkerton detective interrupts an old-timer's game of dominos to learn the truth about Butch Cassidy--who is still very much alive and well. In fact, he's the old-timer playing dominos. Seems that after surviving the infamous shootout in Bolivia that claimed the life of his partner the Sundance Kid, Butch returns to Texas searching for a place to call home. When he comes across a dying rancher who'd been shot by some rustlers, Butch promises to avenge him--and take over the ranch after his death. Assuming the name Jim Strickland, Butch begins a new chapter in his life. But trouble has a way of finding Butch. A corrupt railroad baron pulls him into the most dangerous train robbery he's ever attempted. But if Butch Cassidy is going to ride again, it'll have to be with a newer, and wilder, Wild Bunch. . . "Johnstone is a masterful storyteller, creating a tale that is fanciful and funny, exciting and surprisingly convincing. . .great fun." --Publishers Weekly
