Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Dry Fly Fishing in Border Waters Good wine needs no bush, and any book about angling written in the keenly enthusiastic spirit of the following pages needs really no Introduction. We anglers all love one another, said Izaak Walton, truly. Like Free masons, we are brothers the world over; as ready to listen to each other's notions and experiences of the craft as we are to cast our flies upon the waters - the bread being in our baskets for the time. With anglers, talking shop is as dear as are the waterside pleasures of memory when the rod is resting and the season of retrospect has set in. Book The Dry Fly and Fast Water

Download or read book The Dry Fly and Fast Water written by George Michel Lucien La Branche and published by Greycliff Publishing Company. This book was released on 1998 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time ever in the world of fly fishing, a classic work has been updated into a fully illustrated, modern format. This new volume of The Dry Fly and Fast Water The Dry Fly and Fast Water established George La Branche conservationist, angler, naturalist as a man ahead of his time. In this landmark work his instructions on reading the water and presentation (explaining such techniques as the bounce cast, line control, and 'creating a hatch'), and his descriptions of rise forms and how to read them are all as fresh today as they were more than eighty years ago. In fact, his discussion of fishing a dry fly on fast water heresy when he wrote it has not been improved upon in the modern literature. Any angler who reads this book whether rank novice or seasoned expert and applies La Branche's wisdom will catch more fish on the dry fly.

(6) Columns for Discount on Purchases and Discount on Notes on the same side of the Cash Book; (c) Columns for Discount on Sales and Cash Sales on the debit side of the Cash Book; (d) Departmental columns in the Sales Book and in the Purchase Book. Controlling Accounts.--The addition of special columns in books of original entry makes possible the keeping of Controlling Accounts. The most common examples of such accounts are Accounts Receivable account and Accounts Payable account. These summary accounts, respectively, displace individual customers' and creditors' accounts in the Ledger. The customers' accounts are then segregated in another book called the Sales Ledger or Customers' Ledger, while the creditors' accounts are kept in the Purchase or Creditors' Ledger. The original Ledger, now much reduced in size, is called the General Ledger. The Trial Balance now refers to the accounts in the General Ledger. It is evident that the task of taking a Trial Balance is greatly simplified because so many fewer accounts are involved. A Schedule of Accounts Receivable is then prepared, consisting of the balances found in the Sales Ledger, and its total must agree with the balance of the Accounts Receivable account shown in the Trial Balance. A similar Schedule of Accounts Payable, made up of all the balances in the Purchase Ledger, is prepared, and it must agree with the balance of the Accounts Payable account of the General Ledger." The Balance Sheet.--In the more elementary part of the text, the student learned how to prepare a Statement of Assets and Liabilities for the purpose of disclosing the net capital of an enterprise. In the present chapter he was shown how to prepare a similar statement, the Balance Sheet. For all practical...

Book Fly Fishing Secrets of the Ancients

Download or read book Fly Fishing Secrets of the Ancients written by Paul Schullery and published by UNM Press. This book was released on 2013-02-15 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern fly-fishing is only the latest chapter in a two-millennia saga of technological creativity and passionate observation of the natural world. In Fly-Fishing Secrets of the Ancients, historian-naturalist Paul Schullery explores the earlier chapters in that saga and unearths a host of provocative theories, techniques, and insights that helped shape the modern fly-fisher. Schullery demonstrates that whether we're looking for a good fish story, a clearer understanding of why we fish the way we do, or even a way to improve our own sport, we ignore our elders at our peril. Fly-Fishing Secrets of the Ancients offers the beginning fly-fisher an unprecedented opportunity to come to terms with some of the sport's most fundamental theoretical and practical challenges. It offers the expert fly-fisher a chance to test current angling dogma--and his or her own pet theories--against that of the sport's greatest past masters. And it offers all readers a fresh, probing, and often-humorous take on the great endless fish story we perpetuate and enrich every time we cast a fly.

Book Dry Fly Fishing With 18 Illustrations and Numerous Diagrams

Download or read book Dry Fly Fishing With 18 Illustrations and Numerous Diagrams written by R. C. Bridgett and published by Read Books Ltd. This book was released on 2021-03-22 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dry fly-fishing is an fishing method involving an artificial lure which floats on the surface of the water without getting wet. Originally designed for trout fishing, it is usually considered to be the ultimate fishing technique due to its difficulty in manual skill and the required understanding of the fish and its environment. This vintage book contains a complete guide to this particular mode of angling, written in simple language and profusely illustrated throughout. “Dry-Fly Fishing” will appeal to anglers new and old with an interest in this style, and it is not to be missed by the discerning collector of vintage angling literature. Contents include: “The Object of Fishing”, “The Necessity for the Dry-fly”, “Objections Answered”, “Advantages”, “The Apparatus”, “A Little Entomology”, “Floating Flies”, “Instructions”, “Tactics”, “Drag”, “On Wading”, “Trout-Stalking”, “Dapping”, etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction on the history of fishing.
