Download or read book Heating and Evaporation of Multi Component Fuel Droplets written by Mansour Al Qubeissi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2015-08-01 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book documents pioneering mathematical models introduced for the simulation of multi-component droplets heating and evaporation processes which are implementable into commercial CFD codes. These models, described as 'multi-dimensional quasi discrete' (MDQD) and 'discrete-component' models, were applied to automotive fuel droplets in experimentally measured internal combustion engine conditions for biodiesel, diesel, and gasoline fuels. For instance, it is shown that the suggested models lead to accurate predictions of temperatures and evaporation times in typical diesel and gasoline engine conditions. Such models have also reduced CPU time about 85% compared with cases when classical approaches are used.

Book excerpt: The classic guide to mixtures, completely updated with new models, theories, examples, and data. Efficient separation operations and many other chemical processes depend upon a thorough understanding of the properties of gaseous and liquid mixtures. Molecular Thermodynamics of Fluid-Phase Equilibria, Third Edition is a systematic, practical guide to interpreting, correlating, and predicting thermodynamic properties used in mixture-related phase-equilibrium calculations. Completely updated, this edition reflects the growing maturity of techniques grounded in applied statistical thermodynamics and molecular simulation, while relying on classical thermodynamics, molecular physics, and physical chemistry wherever these fields offer superior solutions. Detailed new coverage includes: Techniques for improving separation processes and making them more environmentally friendly. Theoretical concepts enabling the description and interpretation of solution properties. New models, notably the lattice-fluid and statistical associated-fluid theories. Polymer solutions, including gas-polymer equilibria, polymer blends, membranes, and gels. Electrolyte solutions, including semi-empirical models for solutions containing salts or volatile electrolytes. Coverage also includes: fundamentals of classical thermodynamics of phase equilibria; thermodynamic properties from volumetric data; intermolecular forces; fugacities in gas and liquid mixtures; solubilities of gases and solids in liquids; high-pressure phase equilibria; virial coefficients for quantum gases; and much more. Throughout, Molecular Thermodynamics of Fluid-Phase Equilibria strikes a perfect balance between empirical techniques and theory, and is replete with useful examples and experimental data. More than ever, it is the essential resource for engineers, chemists, and other professionals working with mixtures and related processes.

Download or read book Droplet Interactions and Spray Processes written by Grazia Lamanna and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-14 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a selection of contributions to the DIPSI workshop 2019 (Droplet Impact Phenomena & Spray Investigations) as well as recent progress of the Int. Research Training Group “DROPIT”.The DIPSI workshop, which is now at its thirteenth edition, represents an important opportunity to share recent knowledge on droplets and sprays in a variety of research fields and industrial applications. The research training group “DROPIT” is focused on droplet interaction technologies where microscopic effects influence strongly macroscopic behavior. This requires the inclusion of interface kinetics and/or a detailed analysis of surface microstructures. Normally, complicated technical processes cover the underlying basic mechanisms, and therefore, progress in the overall process modelling can hardly be gained. Therefore, DROPIT focuses on the underlying basic processes. This is done by investigating different spatial and/or temporal scales of the problems and by linking them through a multi-scale approach. In addition, multi-physics are required to understand e.g. problems for droplet-wall interactions, where porous structures are involved.

Download or read book Transport Phenomena with Drops and Bubbles written by Satwindar S. Sadhal and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid flows that transfer heat and mass often involve drops and bubbles, particularly if there are changes of phase in the fluid in the formation or condensation of steam, for example. Such flows pose problems for the chemical and mechanical engineer significantly different from those posed by single-phase flows. This book reviews the current state of the field and will serve as a reference for researchers, engineers, teachers, and students concerned with transport phenomena. It begins with a review of the basics of fluid flow and a discussion of the shapes and sizes of fluid particles and the factors that determine these. The discussion then turns to flows at low Reynolds numbers, including effects due to phase changes or to large radial inertia. Flows at intermediate and high Reynolds numbers are treated from a numerical perspective, with reference to experimental results. The next chapter considers the effects of solid walls on fluid particles, treating both the statics and dynamics of the particle-wall interaction and the effects of phase changes at a solid wall. This is followed by a discussion of the formation and breakup of drops and bubbles, both with and without phase changes. The last two chapters discuss compound drops and bubbles, primarily in three-phase systems, and special topics, such as transport in an electric field.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proceedings of the Second International Clean Air Congress documents the information and experiences exchanged at the Second International Clean Air Congress held in Washington, D.C. on December 6-11, 1970. This book compiles technical papers of five representatives from the national non-governmental air pollution prevention association of Argentina, France, West Germany, Japan, and the United Kingdom that aims to determine how they might work together cooperatively to contribute to the conservation of the world's air resources The topics discussed include the Swedish experiences on sensory evaluation of odorous air pollutant intensities; chronic fluoride intoxication due to air pollution; and organic ozone reactions as singlet oxygen sources. The emission and control of air pollutants from the incineration of municipal solid wastes and gaseous plume diffusion about isolated structures of simple geometry are also covered. This publication is a good reference for environmentalists and students interested in the scientific, technological, and administrative aspects of air pollution control.
