Est-on assuré cependant que cette simple commutativité épuise la question de la responsabilité? On s'efforcera de montrer au contraire en quoi la liberté personnelle pourrait s'accroître (plutôt que se limiter) en proportion de celle d'autrui. Aussi bien, rendre justice à cette face cachée des droits de l'homme consiste moins à proposer une transcription juridique des devoirs - comme si ce catalogue devait "compenser" les libertés reconnues -, qu'à montrer que c'est l'exercice même de ces libertés qui est finalisé par le souci de dignité partagée et donc responsable. Du point de vue juridique, on s'attachera à mettre en lumière les diverses manifestations de cette dialectique interne des droits et responsabilités.
