Enfin, ces liens sont déterminés par des représentations et des contextes dans lesquels les drogues circulent et les individus vivent et évoluent avec leurs désirs et leurs pulsions. L’effacement des frontières entre drogues et médicaments nous montre bien aujourd’hui que le remède peut ou peut ne pas se transformer en poison parfois redoutable, quel que soit le nom qu’on lui attribue. Entre les deux se trouve un espace individuel où la subjectivité rencontre les tensions inhérentes au quadruple impératif de la nouvelle modernité : productivité, consommation, autonomie et responsabilité. Une mission quasi impossible à atteindre qui débouche forcément sur un malaise. C'est au creux de cet espace que notre choix individuel et notre éthique résident à l'époque de risque zéro, de l'euphorie perpétuelle obligatoire et du bonheur sous ordonnance.
