  • Author : B. Yasanthi Perera
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing USA
  • Release : 2020-01-16
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 327 pages

Download or read book Uber written by B. Yasanthi Perera and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2020-01-16 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Uber is one of the most innovative companies of our time. This book provides a detailed analysis of the company and its success and goes beyond the headlines about safety and culture. Americans are so accustomed to using Uber today that the name of the innovative ride-sharing company has almost become a verb, as in "to Uber" somewhere, and yet Uber has been around only since 2010. In less than a decade, Uber has disrupted the ride-hailing industry, from making it easier and more affordable to become an Uber driver than a cab driver to rating riders as well as drivers. As an early pioneer in using technology to create a new business model and new efficiencies, Uber is considered one of the most important case studies in the sharing economy. However, little in-depth information exists on this innovative company. This book traces Uber's origin and evolution in the face of competitive pressures, discusses the company leadership and corporate culture, addresses such controversies as rider and driver safety and sexual harassment of female employees, and explores how the company is addressing these challenges. Students of business, entrepreneurs, and anyone interested in the development and exponential growth of the sharing economy will benefit from reading this book.

This book, How to Be a Lyft and Uber Driver - The Unofficial Driver's Manual doesn't waste any time repeating content found on the Uber and Lyft websites. This first-of-a-kind book documents everything the author wished he knew before his first trip as a Lyft and Uber driver. All of How to Be a Lyft and Uber Driver - The Unofficial Driver's Manual content is dedicated to helping you have a successful rideshare driving business; earning maximum income; with no stress. ============ There are other rideshare driving books on Amazon. Why buy this book? For that matter why buy a book at all? Why not just go to the Uber/Lyft website, sign up, qualify, then go out and drive? From the author: "If rideshare driving is such a great 'gig' then why do 50% of new drivers quit less than 30 days after their first trip as a driver? At the end of a year over 90% have stopped being a rideshare driver!" ============ An even better reason to buy this book comes from a 2018 research report from Stanford University Graduate School of Business showing that rideshare drivers with over 2,500 lifetime trips earn on average 14% more compared to new drivers. After reading this book you'll know at least as much as a driver with 2,500 trips meaning you'll earn more than enough to pay for the small cost of this book soon after you get out on the road and start completing your own trips. ============ How to Be a Lyft and Uber Driver - The Unofficial Driver's Manual is well-researched and professionally-written thanks in part to the author's 15+ years' experience in corporate America as a data analyst; technical writer; training content developer; as well as a technical training presenter and training coach. Book Anthology of an Uber Driver S Experiences

Download or read book Anthology of an Uber Driver S Experiences written by Burton Hochberg and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2016-04-15 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After driving for Uber for a short time, I realized that I had the fodder for another book. Unique stories were happening in my car every day. I did not start out with the thought of eventually writing or even publishing a book. All I did was to build files with anecdotal material. I called the files Uberisms. Upon conclusion of the first file, I printed copies of it and distributed it to my riders while continuing to write Uberism: Book2. I repeated the process I started, and upon conclusion of the second chapter, I printed copies of it to distribute to my riders. That became an expensive process. Since these files could be found on Facebook, I just chatted with my riders about Uberisms and told them how to access them on the computer. It was at that point that I gave consideration to publishing a book. At that point, the number of individual Uberisms reached five files, totaling about seventy-five thousand words, and it was time to publish my works, but I needed an all-encompassing title. That was the birth of Analogy of an Uber Drivers Experiences.

Download or read book Uberland written by Alex Rosenblat and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2018-10-23 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Silicon Valley technology is transforming the way we work, and Uber is leading the charge. An American startup that promised to deliver entrepreneurship for the masses through its technology, Uber instead built a new template for employment using algorithms and Internet platforms. Upending our understanding of work in the digital age, Uberland paints a future where any of us might be managed by a faceless boss. The neutral language of technology masks the powerful influence algorithms have across the New Economy. Uberland chronicles the stories of drivers in more than twenty-five cities in the United States and Canada over four years, shedding light on their working conditions and providing a window into how they feel behind the wheel. The book also explores Uber’s outsized influence around the world: the billion-dollar company is now influencing everything from debates about sexual harassment and transportation regulations to racial equality campaigns and labor rights initiatives. Based on award-winning technology ethnographer Alex Rosenblat’s firsthand experience of riding over 5,000 miles with Uber drivers, daily visits to online forums, and face-to-face discussions with senior Uber employees, Uberland goes beyond the headlines to reveal the complicated politics of popular technologies that are manipulating both workers and consumers.

This book was released on 2019-01-07 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everyone knows Uber drivers are expected to be courteous and attentive, both to their passengers and to those on the road. Unfortunately, this Joe Schmo is not your everyday Uber driver. I began sharing rides with the audacious hope to one day escape the road blocks stalling my merger onto the freeway of creative success. But when a typical shift U-turns into a series of detours involving herpes ridden riders, sexy sorority sisters, and blundering bank robbers, I arrive (at gunpoint) miles from my desired destination. ""Rideshares, Wrecks, and Sex: Confessions of a Convicted Uber Driver"" is based upon actual events that transpired over the year that I covertly drove for Uber while on probation. I confesses outlandish details in a highlight reel of wrecks (both car and train) and sex, effectively answering ""What's your craziest story?""
