Download or read book Renal Pharmacology written by Manuel Martinez-Maldonado and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frequently attempts to design experiments utilizing the methodology de scribed in articles in trade journals can be frustrating. Description of procedures, because of space constraints, are not always complete. The present volume attempts to bring together in one reference source many of the techniques which are utilized in the study of the kidney. It provides a thorough compendium of research tools, framed by the critical analysis of the theoretical background of renal physiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology discussed in Volume 4A. Some areas previously dealt with are not covered from a methodological point of view since adequate information does exist elsewhere (e.g., methods of whole kidney ATPase isolation). Since drugs acting on the kidney may alter not only functional but anatomical integrity, a chapter on the preparation of tissue for morphological studies has been included. The important developments in analy sis of minute (ultramicro) quantities of tissue and biological fluids, as well as methodological advances in studies of the isolated kidney, are thoroughly covered. It is my hope that investigators, research fellows, and graduate students will benefit from the information contained in this volume and that, together with its companion tome, it will be a ready reference for the renal physiologist, the renal pharmacologist, and the nephrologist. The contributors have provided painstaking descriptions and, when re quired, mathematical analyses of the techniques described herein. I wish to thank all of them for their enthusiasm and the excellence of their contributions.

Download or read book Stopping Kidney Disease Food Guide written by Lee Hull and published by Kidneyhood.Org. This book was released on 2019-06-08 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This renal and kidney diet guide is for kidney or renal patients who want to try to slow or stop the progression of incurable kidney disease. The chronic kidney disease diet and CKD recipes and eating plan in this book are based on the research in Stopping Kidney Disease, the highest rated book on kidney disease which has benefited hundreds of patients. It's simple. We as patients want our kidneys to last as long as possible, and we want to live longer and better lives. We want a cure, but if we can't get a cure we want to slow the kidney disease progression to a snail's pace. That's what we want and deserve. The problem is today's kidney diets have nothing in common with our real goals. Traditional and other current kidney diets focus on treating just three conditions as we all know: sodium, phosphorus, and potassium. However, most of us have many more comorbid conditions made worse by traditional kidney diets. We need to try and treat, cure or manage as many conditions as possible, not just three. You would never know you need treat other conditions or have other dietary options unless you get educated. The Stopping Kidney Disease Food Guide contains: How to treat as many factors as possible that are contributing to kidney disease progression Foods that are good for kidney patients Kidney disease or renal disease diet meal planning Chronic kidney disease or CKD diet information and restrictions The mathematics of slowing incurable kidney disease The first kidney disease diet book or renal disease guide book with acid load and antioxidant values Sample meal plans based on different cuisines A reference guide for the most common fruit and vegetables in grocery stores with information on potential renal acid load, protein, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, and antioxidant values(ORAC), nitrates polyphenols and AGE's for each meal And much more The diet can be customized for Stage 3, Stage 4, and Stage 5 kidney disease patients. Educated patients live longer and better lives. Education on your disease and treatment options will likely be the greatest factor in your success or failure in dealing with this disease. This book is meant to be a companion book to Stopping Kidney Disease.

Download or read book Alkaline Plant Based Diet written by Aqiyl Aniys and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-10-17 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alkaline Plant Based Diet is my book The God-Awakening Diet, revised. This new edition titled Alkaline Plant Based Diet is re-branded to better identify what the book is about. It also includes some minor revisions to content for a more user-friendly experience. An alkaline plant based diet is instrumental in supporting health and vitality, reversing disease, and protecting the earth's ecosystem. It optimally supports a slightly alkaline pH level in the blood, which is the equilibrium point for the health of all the organs in the body. Consuming acidifying meat, dairy, and processed foods causes the body to rely on buffering systems to keep the blood's pH around 7.4. The body then strips alkaline material from bones and tissues to put into the bloodstream when the buffering systems are overwhelmed. This compromises the health of organs and allows for the proliferation of pathogens and toxins. The global assimilation of the Western diet, which is centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods, supports industrial processes that compromise the natural life supporting patterns of the earth's ecosystem, and supports the proliferation of disease in the body and in the earth. Diets centered on the consumption of meat, dairy, and processed foods are the catalyst of the inhumane treatment of animals, deforestation, land erosion, depletion of fresh water, and intensified climate change. The mechanisms employed to satisfy the demand for meat, dairy, and processed foods severely compromise the natural patterns that support all life on earth.

Book Cystogenesis

Download or read book Cystogenesis written by Jong Hoon Park and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-12 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) is a highly prevalent hereditary renal disorder in which fluid-filled cysts are appeared in both kidneys. Main causative genes of ADPKD are PKD1 and PKD2, encoding for polycystin-1 (PC1) and polycystin-2 (PC2) respectively. Those proteins are localized on primary cilia and function as mechanosensor in response to the fluid flow, translating mechanistic stimuli into calcium signaling. With mutations either of PKD1 or PKD2, hyper-activated renal tubular epithelial cell proliferation is observed, followed by disrupted calcium homeostasis and aberrant intracellular cyclic AMP (cAMP) accumulation. Increased cell proliferation with fluid secretion leads to the development of thousands of epithelial-lined, fluid-filled cysts in kidneys. It is also accompanied by interstitial inflammation, fibrosis, and finally reaching end-stage renal disease (ESRD). In human ADPKD, the age at which renal failure typically occurs is later in life, however no specific targeted medications are available to cure ADPKD. Recently, potential therapeutic targets or surrogate diagnostic biomarkers for ADPKD are proposed with the advances in the understanding of ADPKD pathogenesis, and some of them were attempted for clinical trials. Herein, we will summarize genetic and epi-genetic molecular mechanisms in ADPKD progression, and overview the currently available biomarkers or potential therapeutic reagents suggested.
