Book Dr Robert Maldron and the Mermaid

Download or read book Dr Robert Maldron and the Mermaid written by Hermione Chase and published by Hermione Chase. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Maldron was a field doctor at the Battle of Gettysburg. At dusk lying mortally wounded, the dead and dying were visited by a band of traveling vampires and its leader befriended Maldron. Turning him enough for Maldron to recover, he has the life expectancy of a vampire and many of their attributes while still retaining his human identity. The vampire is one of many species that exist on the Continuum plain, a plain whose occupants have been slowly dying over millennia through a lack of quality sustenance.....blood. The Continuum council and its members were responsible for the creation of earth millions of years earlier as an experiment to guarantee much-needed quality sustenance. Blood on the Continuum plain had become infected with a virus rendering it useless, so it had to be recreated in a sustainable virus-free way in isolation, so earth and its universe was created. The experiment had been successful until modern times with the advent of human drug abuse, alcohol and blood diseases. The harvesting of human blood during periods of rest was no longer providing the required food to furnish immortality for species of the Continuum. In frustration, some species are finding access to earth without the permission of the Continuum council, access courtesy of man's mistreatment of planet earth. Access to the earth environment in an uncontrolled way causes some species to react uncharacteristically and they cause havoc and death amongst humans close to where breaches have occurred. Maldron's vampire mentor, Max Von Konstein as the Continuum representative on earth,, occasionally calls upon his help to deal with those creatures from the Continuum plain.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Its 1955 and the most recent expedition to the Himalayas has failed. Its purpose was to locate the whereabouts of the mythical Soma plant. The Soma plant is supposedly unique to the Himalayan Mountains and according to Nepalese legend, it has restorative powers to cure and heal and some say to prolong life. Its exact location was thought to have been found 10 years earlier with the discovery of a photograph of a strange plant that resembled a 4-leaf clover. It was amongst equipment salvaged from a previous expedition where all participants perished. This had fueled further exploration, financed by large pharmaceutical companies keen to find the plant and synthesis medicines that might make millions of dollars for their shareholders. The latest attempt present day saw the expedition team killed under mysterious circumstances, with the exception of one Sherpa guide. The survivor escapes with two broken legs having jumped from a cliff edge, while his compatriots were left back at base camp mutilated. The Sherpa's account spoke of an attack, rather than an avalanche. An attack by a mountain man as the locals term the creature. Western culture call it a Yeti or an Abominable Snowman. The Dakin Foundation, a leading pharmaceutical research company who provided funding for the expedition is undeterred and it seeks help from New York University School of Medicines top researcher, Eleanor Steed, to carry out a second expedition to find the Soma plant. Steed is terminally ill with months to live and accepts the commission, keeping her condition a secret. She does not necessarily believe in the plant's existence or its properties, it is just an opportunity to be involved in one last piece of fieldwork in a place she had never visited. Her condition is managed through medication. Elsewhere in the world a number of countries are testing bombs in the pacific and Australian outback. These man made effects on the earth's environment create a number of breaches between the earth plain and that of the Continuum. As was the case several thousand years earlier a breach opened briefly amongst the Himalayan Mountains. The Continuum Council acts swiftly to close the doorway but not before a creature called a Yetiad steps through. Unlike the family of Yetiad that did the same thousands of years before this single Yetiad comes through unprepared. Instead of a wise, knowledgeable creature living in harmony with Tibetans, it is an angry, murderous creature whose sole objective is to find the Soma plant now it has tested blood. Blood and the sap of the Soma plant combined prolong the life of the Yetiad and has the capability of doing the same for humans. The Continuum Council contacts Project Earth Director, Max Von Konsetin, telepathically seeking his help to stop the rampant Yetiad. Max in turn asks for the help of part human, part vampire, Robert Maldron. Maldron is seconded into Steed's team. While Steed searches for the Soma plant, Maldron must deal with the Yeti, the shortened name given by the Tibetan monks.

Book Dr Robert Maldron Attack of the Harpy

Download or read book Dr Robert Maldron Attack of the Harpy written by Hermione Chase and published by Hermione Chase. This book was released on 2014-03-21 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Continuum breach has appeared over the town of Whitley, northeast coast of England. It's not the first time it has happened, the last being nearly 150 years ago. Something inhuman has slipped through from one of the Continuum plains looking for a life giving mineral on the earth plain that is fast becoming extinct on its own. The mineral is naturally manufactured on earth through the human life cycle. The mineral is blood. The creature is known to human legend and folklore as a Harpy, a figure of humanoid proportions, but with the strength of 3 men and the ability to fly. The deal reached between the Continuum council and the governments of planet earth is failing to deliver, namely, humans are not producing sufficient quality blood for Continuum creatures to harvest limited amounts during periods of human rest. This is because human blood is being contaminated by disease, drugs and alcohol. Once immortal creatures on the Continuum plain are now dying and are resolved to take matters into their own hands by accessing the earth plain without the council's permission. Unfortunately, the earth's atmosphere does not agree with the Harpy and its normally placid nature on its own plain changes it and they become angry, aggressive and impatient looking to satisfy its needs and return home in the shortest time possible. 150 years ago they came and took what they needed with violence and a number of local people were found mutilated and killed. Now they are back. The breach 150 years ago had been closed eventually by council members and it had stayed that way until human misuse of planet earth and its environment begins to cause vibrations and events that are forcing open fresh breaches letting through all manner of unwanted visitors. Max Von Konstein, the council's ambassador on earth, is tasked with controlling the Harpy and its threat to human life. As a creature of the Continuum, Von Konstein is what humans call a vampire with limited ability to stop the Harpy or any creature during daylight hours without drawing attention to himself. Instead, Von Konstein calls upon his student, Robert Maldron, to act on his behalf. Maldron was a field doctor in the American Union army until his medical tent at Gettysburg was hit by cannon fire. Almost dead, Maldron is befriended by Von Konstein and his traveling band of vampires and partially turned rather than face death. Now 150 years later, Maldon is a world renowned researcher into skin protection and the effects of ultraviolet rays. It has helped him to survive during daylight hours and made him a wealthy man as he offered his research to modern day manufacturers of skin protection treatment. In return for saving his life, Maldron agrees to help Von Konstein as these breaches occur.

Unbeknown to anyone connected with the mission at the time the plane had been shot down shortly after take off. Its resting place is at the bottom of Lake Laffey where it stayed along with its crew and Philip Graves biological father, Squadron Leader John Laine. Laine would return within days of his death at a local seance to warn of the latent danger posed by his plane's cargo, only for the authorities to intervene and discredit the medium. Now 40 or so years later and with the impact of local earth tremors nearby, the wreckage of the Excalibur is breaking up and with it the liberation of gas, its cargo bound for Germany. The gas appears across Lake Laffey as a mist drifting inland and affecting adversely, members of the local population. This was its purpose 40 years earlier only the target then was the German air force. A number of inexplicable crimes follow perpetrated by people acting completely out of character and with no memory of their actions afterwards. The prime suspect of a murder accuses a prominent ex-minister of the crown of being complicit in the crime under interrogation, but the man concerned is bed-ridden and aged. The public embarrassment though is enough for MI5 to call on the help of New Scotland Yard Inspector Philip Graves based on his reputation. As Graves delves into the past of the suspect and the ex-minister, involving his own visit to a medium, he begins to unravel the past and the whereabouts of the ill-fated Excalibur, and that of his own connection to John Laine. This is not before a number of other crimes befall the residents who live close to Lake Laffey.

Book excerpt: It's the moment of your death. There's a magic button. Do you delete your entire online legacy? Or do you keep it – and leave the choice for someone else? USER NOT FOUND is about our digital lives after we die. Dante or Die's play, created with pioneering theatre-artist Chris Goode, is inspired by a Guardian article by Caroline Twigg about dealing with her late husband's digital afterlife. In the play Terry becomes responsible for the online legacy of his partner - he is flooded with condolence texts and messages about his partner's death, and then has to decide what to keep and what to delete. The performance was originally developed with creative technologists Marmelo, and was performed in a café, where the audience share Terry's story through smartphones and headphones. In this format the play was performed in cafés across the country, including at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe. The audience become a fly-on-the-wall to peer into the life of a man who is faced with keeping or deleting. A story of contemporary grief unfolds through this intimate, funny performance that gently interrogates our need for connection. "With his tender script, [Goode] hands us each the weight of the internet and asks how we get closure in a world where nothing ever switches off." The Guardian.
