On the other hand, Vaughn’s really attractive, inside and out. He’s got the abilities. She’s got the abilities and the skills to teach him how to really start using those gifts. They are each going to have to let down their personal barriers in order to make it work. Will they manage it in time to save her life?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this unprecedented critique, Bernard-Henri Lévy revisits his political roots, scrutinizes the totalitarianisms of the past as well as those on the horizon, and argues powerfully for a new political and moral vision for our times. Are human rights Western or universal? Does anti-Semitism have a future, and, if so, what will it look like? And how is it that progressives themselves–those who in the past defended individual rights and fought fascism–have now become the breeding ground for new kinds of dangerous attitudes: an unthinking loathing of Israel; an obsessive anti-Americanism; an idea of “tolerance” that, in its justification of Islamic fanaticism, for example, could become the “cemetery of democracies”; and an indifference, masked by relativism, to the greatest human tragedies facing the world today? At a time of ideological and political transition in America, Left in Dark Times articulates the threats we all face–in many cases without our even being aware of it–and offers a powerful new vision for progressives everywhere.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book of poetry titled IT'S TIME FOR A RHYME, gets right to the point. When I was a young lad still in high school the work of the classic poets captivated me. I was hooked. All of those poems, as I recall, flowed melodically, and part of the reason was because of their entrancing rhyming. In later years, I found myself becoming disturbed by poems that seemed so disjointed and seemed to roam all over the place. They didn't rhyme, and, to me at least, they were a bore. Thus, my title, IT'S TIME FOR A RHYME.

Book excerpt: In Their Time revolves around the life and times of Harriet Arnold, mistress of Daffodil Hill. Tall, attractive, headstrong, auburn haired Harriet finds herself struggling to survive during the Union army's occupation of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. With her husband Edwin, away fighting under the command of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest, Harriet struggles to raise two teenage daughters and to protect her palatial home and property from Yankee soldiers who several time threaten to set her home ablaze. And if dealing with the Union soldiers were not enough, she also is forced to deal with Daffodil Hill's former revengeful overseer and a sex-crazed gambler bent on kidnapping her daughters and beautiful young house guests. Although this carefully researched, historically accurate novel brings a people, a place and a time alive again it goes beyond a portrayal of a particular people in a specific place while exploring the broader war, especially those battles that directly impacted Middle Tennessee. Although sorely tested, Harriet's early frontier training has prepared her well for the challenges she must face during the dark and difficult war years. Faced with events so shocking that she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams, Harriet somehow manages to courageously defend her household with grit and a fierce and indomitable spirit.

In the summer of 1980, tensions are building. Homes of the poor are being burnt down. Armed revolutionaries on college campuses battle right-wings militias in the city's neighborhoods. The lines between good and bad, right and wrong, and beautiful and ugly are blurred by shed blood. Two children, one from a family living in misery and one well-off, form an alliance amid the turmoil. Through their senses, the cityscape unfolds its wonders, its rich smells and colors, as they try to make sense of the events swirling around them. And they hatch a plan. For the first time in generations, mute swans have migrated from Russia to the Black Sea and to a park at the center of Ankara. For the generals, they are an affirmation, and their wings must be broken so they can't fly away. But if the children can save one swan, won't they have saved the freedom of all?
