They don’t fit in with normal people, sensible people - people who don’t get a kick out of shoving in the knife, ripping through the flesh, seeing the bright red spurt . . . Peter Chambers knows the game of murder. He’s not a player - more of a referee. He sees them all: the murder for profit, the murder for fun. Sometimes he’s on the receiving end. And when sex gets mixed with murder, it’s almost enough to make a guy give up sex - for a day or two.

With an abusive father and a loving but ailing mother, she relies on her farm and a lot of hard work to survive. While enduring economic downturns, harsh winters, and a world war, Shirley feels a special connection to the land and the medicinal benefits of the plants that she cultivates. Rumors of her incredible botanical knowledge travel far and wide, until tourists arrive to reap the benefits of Miss Putnam’s garden. Although she’s an independent woman, Shirley eventually falls in love and has a daughter whom she hopes to love and cherish as much as her mother was devoted to her. But life is never straightforward and there are always pitfalls to navigate. She has had her fill of love, loss, and closely kept family secrets; enough to bury in the soil of her beloved garden. Miss Putnam’s Garden is a testament to the power of the human spirit, and a chronicle of the lives of three incredible women.

Download or read book Adventures with an Interdimensional Psychopath written by Wayne Keeler and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2021-12-27 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adventures With An Interdimensional Psychopath: An Introduction To Madness By: Wayne Keeler The Author Wayne Keeler wanted to challenge the impossible and to try and open the imagination of people to see possibilities and think outside the box. The author is an advent philosopher and one strong theory that he mulls around thinking about is the Alternate Dimensional theory, which basically states that when a decision is made, infinite and endless possibilities branch off, creating alternate worlds that can vary either very drastically or very minimally. The only thing that limits the possibilities is one’s own imagination. But, while this can be a dual edged sword, this can also lead to truly wondrous and beautiful ideas that can bring about a beautiful world. Join Lily Extravagund on her adventure with an interdimensional psychopath to see the worlds in a new light. Lily Extravagund was a normal girl, studying and preparing for her future in the upper echelon. A simple tool to be used to help her sister get a step higher, until she runs into a complete and utter strange stranger. When she confronts them, it’s at this moment that when her world gets turned upside down and inside out. When things start looking up, they immediately spiral in ways beyond imagination. When her life hits the lowest possible point, the stranger intervenes again to introduce her to new possibilities that changes her life forever. With these changes, she could never go back to seeing how things were again.

Book The Oxford Edition of Charles Dickens Nicholas Nickleby

Download or read book The Oxford Edition of Charles Dickens Nicholas Nickleby written by Charles Dickens and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-09 with total page 872 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nicholas Nickleby, the second volume of the new Oxford Edition of Charles Dickens, is Dickens's third novel, originally published in monthly parts between March 1838 and September 1839. Brilliantly comic, the novel quickly developed a strong strand of social criticism, exploring themes such as love and family, selfishness, work, and charity. It showcases a host of characters, from the earnest and passionate young hero Nicholas, the pathetic Smike, and the brutal schoolmaster Wackford Squeers, to sparkling minor players like John Browdie, Mrs. Squeers, Mr. Mantalini, Mr. Crummles, and the infuriatingly inept Mrs. Nickleby. Solidifying the reputation for comedy and pathos Dickens had established with The Pickwick Papers and Oliver Twist, this novel reached—and delighted—the widest audience Dickens had yet known. The manuscript of Nicholas Nickleby survives only in fragments, with the British Library, the Charles Dickens Museum, and The Rosenbach library holding substantial portions, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and the Morgan Library also holding pages. This edition is presented in two volumes: the text in Volume I and Essay on the Text and Notes in Volume 2. The editors have closely examined all the surviving manuscript, recovering scores of deletions and recording all variants of wording in the textual apparatus. The text is based on that of the original serial instalments; all emendations from that text are fully documented. All lifetime British editions (the Cheap, the Library, the Illustrated Library, the People's and the Charles Dickens) have been carefully collated, and all verbal variants are recorded.
