Chinchilla fur was at the start mottled yellow-grey within the wild, in step with The Merck Veterinary Manual. Through selective breeding, however, other colorings have become commonplace, inclusive of silver, yellow-gray, bluish-gray, white, and beige and black. Each hair results in a black tip, irrespective of what shade the chinchillas are. First appearing round 41 million years in the past, the chinchilla's ancestors had been some of the first rodents to infest South America. Chinchilla fur has become famous within the 1700s, and the animals had been hunted almost to extinction via 1900. About that point, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Peru banned the looking of untamed chinchillas.
