Book Dolph Tchebyscheff Arrays of Many Elements and Arbitrary Uniform Spacing

Download or read book Dolph Tchebyscheff Arrays of Many Elements and Arbitrary Uniform Spacing written by Charles J. Drane (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The optimum design of Dolph-Tchebyscheff broadside arrays of an odd number of elements presents definite computational problems in terms of existing excitation coefficient design procedures, particularly for element spacings of less than a half-wavelength. This paper presents approximate representations for these coefficients in terms of Bessel functions for arrays of, say, more than twenty elements of arbitrary but uniform spacing. To facilitate comparison of the approximations with exact theory, graphs and tables are presented for various main beam--sidelobe ratios, numbers of array elements, and element spacing. (Author).

Book Handbook of Radar Signal Analysis

Download or read book Handbook of Radar Signal Analysis written by Bassem R. Mahafza and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-08-17 with total page 706 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new handbook on radar signal analysis adopts a deliberate and systematic approach. It uses a clear and consistent level of delivery while maintaining strong and easy-to-follow mathematical details. The emphasis of this book is on radar signal types and their relevant signal processing and not on radar systems hardware or components. This handbook serves as a valuable reference to a wide range of audience. More specifically, college-level students, practicing radar engineers, as well as casual readers of the subject are the intended target audience of the first few chapters of this book. As the book chapters progress, these grow in complexity and specificity. Accordingly, later chapters are intended for practicing engineers, graduate college students, and advanced readers. Finally, the last few chapters contain several special topics on radar systems that are both educational and scientifically entertaining to all readers. The presentation of topics in this handbook takes the reader on a scientific journey whose major landmarks comprise the different radar subsystems and components. In this context, the chapters follow the radar signal along this journey from its birth to the end of its life. Along the way, the different relevant radar subsystems are analyzed and discussed in great detail. The chapter contributors of this new handbook comprise experienced academia members and practicing radar engineers. Their combined years of academic and real-world experiences are in excess of 175. Together, they bring a unique, easy-to-follow mix of mathematical and practical presentations of the topics discussed in this book. See the "Chapter Contributors" section to learn more about these individuals.

Book Electromagnetic Wave Theory

Download or read book Electromagnetic Wave Theory written by J. C. Brown and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetic Wave Theory, Part 2 contains the proceedings of a Symposium on Electromagnetic Wave Theory held at Delft, The Netherlands in September 1965. The symposium provided a forum for discussing electromagnetic wave theory and tackled a wide range of topics, from propagation in nonlinear media to electromagnetic wave propagation and amplification in solid-state plasmas. Electromagnetic waves in nonlinear transmission lines with active parameters are also considered, along with the phase dependence of maser active material Q-factor on pump intensity and frequency. Comprised of four sections, this volume begins with an analysis of two modes of propagation that are coupled through parametric modulation in nonlinear media. The discussion then turns to symmetry restrictions in nonlinear, non-absorbing, non-dispersive media; nonlinear interaction between two beams of plane electromagnetic waves in an anisotropic medium; radiation in periodically non-stationary media; and electromagnetic wave propagation in time-varying media. Subsequent chapters explore the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by plasma structures; resonant electromagnetic scattering from gyrotropic plasmas; scattering and transmission of electromagnetic waves at a statistically rough boundary between two dielectric media; and developments in wavefront reconstruction. This book will be useful for students, practitioners, and researchers in physics.

Book Principles of Modern Radar

Download or read book Principles of Modern Radar written by Jerry Eaves and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 709 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, Principles of Modern Radar, has as its genesis a Georgia Tech short course of the same title. This short course has been presented an nually at Georgia Tech since 1969, and a very comprehensive set of course notes has evolved during that seventeen year period. The 1986 edition of these notes ran to 22 chapters, and all of the authors involved, except Mr. Barrett, were full time members of the Georgia Tech research faculty. After considerable encouragement from various persons at the university and within the radar community, we undertook the task of editing the course notes for formal publication. The contents of the book that ensued tend to be practical in nature, since each contributing author is a practicing engineer or scientist and each was selected to write on a topic embraced by his area(s) of expertise. Prime examples are Chaps. 2, 5, and 10, which were authored by E. F. Knott, G. W. Ewell, and N. C. Currie, respectively. Each of these three researchers is rec ognized in the radar community as an expert in the technical area that his chap ter addresses, and each had already authored and published a major book on his subject. Several other contributing authors, including Dr. Bodnar, Mr. Bruder, Mr. Corriher, Dr. Reedy, Dr. Trebits, and Mr. Scheer, also have major book publications to their credit.

Book Broadband Array Processing

Download or read book Broadband Array Processing written by Shefeng Yan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-06 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the background and technology of array signal modeling. It presents the concept and formulation of beamformers and discusses several commonly used array performance measures. It also introduces two traditional types of beamformers: delay-and-sum and optimum beamformers. Chapter 1 includes background information on array processing, while Chapters 2 and 3 discuss the DFT-based frequency-domain implementation of a broadband beamformer and the design of subband beamformers for frequency-domain broadband beamformers. Chapter 4 presents the FIR-based, time-domain implementation of the broadband beamformer, where the FIR beamformer is designed by separately designing the subband beamformers and the corresponding FIR filters. The techniques for optimal design of the FIR beamformer are developed in Chapter 5, and Chapters 6 and 7 focus on the modal beamforming problem for circular arrays for the frequency-domain modal beamformer and the time-domain modal beamformer. Lastly, the final chapters present frequency-domain and time-domain modal beamformers for spherical arrays.
