This book was released on 2016-05-18 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dog Walks Around The Norfolk Coast contains 16 circular dog friendly walks which vary in length, but all have one thing in common; very little time is needed on the lead. This book was created from my own desire to find good dog walks which didn't take all day, and which would let the dogs run free as much as possible. Many of the walks I discovered whilst writing this book were great for us as humans, but not quite so good for dogs. There were too many trails which required lots of road walking, which was something I have tried to avoid as much as possible here. The walks cover the whole of the Norfolk Coast stretching from Snettisham on the west coast to Caister-on-Sea on the east coast, and all are suitable for any size of dog! Each walk gives you: >the postcode for parking >a brief sentence on what you're likely to see >the length of walk >the OS map relevant to the area >a detailed hand drawn map of the route >clear instructions on following the route Covering 16 coastal dog walks, this is a handy little book for exploring the beautiful Norfolk coastline.

With so many to choose from, it will help you make those difficult decisions about which beaches are suitable for you on this superb Norfolk coast. With 24 years of living in Norfolk and writing honest reviews on many of the wonderful things to do in Norfolk, Suzy Watson covers all you need to know about the amazing beaches from a personal standpoint. She has had small and large children, she has dogs, she loves wildlife and large open spaces, and occasionally she likes to be entertained (!), so this book covers every aspect of what you might want from a beach in detail, including which ones are dog friendly. All the Norfolk beaches vary so much and there are so many of them that it can be difficult to find the right beach for your current circumstance. Here you can choose a different beach every day, safe in the knowledge that you'll know what to expect. These are the sort of questions you'll have answered from the Norfolk Beaches Handbook. Which beaches are dog friendly? Should you go to somewhere which has lifeguards? Do you want to get away from the crowds? Which beaches have fun fairs and attractions and will entertain the kids? Would the kids like to go fossil hunting? Would you like to go bird watching or seal watching? What's disability access like? Covering the best 28 beaches in Norfolk, it's great for dipping in and out of when you fancy experiencing another beach, but can't decide which one!

Book Walking in Norfolk

Download or read book Walking in Norfolk written by Laurence Mitchell and published by Cicerone Press Limited. This book was released on 2017-03-31 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This guidebook describes 40 day walks across Norfolk ranging in length from 4 to 12 miles. The walks are divided into five sections: the northeast coast and the Broads; south Norfolk, the Yare and Waveney; North Norfolk and the Coast; Central Norfolk and Breckland; and West Norfolk and the Fens. Each walk is described step-by-step, illustrated with 1:40K OS map extracts and packed with historical, geological and other information about the landscape the route passes through. All walks are circular, along footpaths, bridleways and quiet country lanes, and some use parts of long-distance paths, including the Peddars Way, Norfolk Coast Path, Boudica's Way and Weavers Way. The Fenland region of Norfolk's far west is flat and low-lying, as are the marshes and waterways of the Broads in the east, but between these two extremes there is a great deal of topography going on. The county is far more varied than most outsiders imagine, with several distinct and unique landscapes. As well as Broads and the Fens, it has the sandy Brecks, rolling farmland, ancient woodland, meandering rivers and the gorgeous North Norfolk coast with its beaches, shingle banks, salt marshes and tidal mud flats.

There is the archaeological interest of the Roman road whose route the trail first follows to the coast, the magnificent architecture of Norfolk's characteristic flint churches, and for birdwatchers an embarrassment of riches, from the rare stone curlews of Breckland to the marsh harriers sailing above the reedbeds at the spectacular nature reserves of Titchwell and Cley. Book excerpt: A dog-owner's bible for a wealth of fun, welcoming and quirky adventures in the UK and Ireland. A staggering one third of British households now own a dog as a pet, meaning dog-friendly days out and weekend trips are becoming ever more popular. Finding reliable and comprehensive information on dog-friendly activities, though, is getting harder thanks to the deluge of online content, much of which doesn't offer in-depth information on the kinds of things dog owners need to know. Dog Days Out solves that problem, offering 365 ideas for things to do around the UK with your four-legged friend, such as long rambles in the countryside, brilliant beaches to play fetch on, and exciting attractions and quirky accommodation options. From the rugged countryside of Ireland and Northern Ireland to the beaches of Cornwall, Kent and the Scottish Highlands, plus castles, country houses and cracking walks to be had in between, this book will provide an abundance of ideas for an hour, half a day or a whole day out to suit all weathers. Gorgeous maps and beautiful photography make this both an aspirational and endlessly useful read. The long list of brilliant activities is accompanied by essential practical information for dog owners, such as local bylaws, rules for dogs, wildlife to be aware of, safety tips, solo travel with dogs, activities with reactive dogs, and accessible dog days out.

Book On the Trail of Sherlock Holmes

Download or read book On the Trail of Sherlock Holmes written by Stephen Browning and published by Pen and Sword History. This book was released on 2022-03-24 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘There can be no question, Mr Dear Watson, of the value of exercise before breakfast’ Sherlock Holmes in The Adventure of Black Peter You may have been introduced to the magic of the greatest of English detectives by reading the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or perhaps watching some of the hundreds of films or TV shows that feature the extraordinary adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr John H. Watson - now, this unique book offers a detailed itinerary for actually ‘walking’ Sherlock Holmes. Beginning, of course, at Baker Street a series of walks takes in the well-known, as well as some of the more obscure, locations of London as travelled by Holmes and Watson and a gallery of unforgettable characters in the stories. Details of each location and the story in which it features are given along with other items of interest - associated literary and historical information, social history, and events in Conan Doyle’s life. A chapter then explores Holmes’ adventures in the rest of the UK. 55 black and white original photographs accompany the text. This book is designed to appeal to anyone who wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the stories by travelling, even if just in imagination from an armchair, exactly the same London streets as Sherlock Holmes, and perhaps also by exploring some iconic Holmesian locations farther afield. ‘Come, Watson, come!’ Holmes says in The Adventure of the Abbey Grange. ‘The game is afoot. Not a word! Into your clothes and come!’
