This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Toolkit synthesises learning and examples gathered from Development Assistance Committee (DAC) members and partners, including their work through international fora such as the OECD, as well as additional research. It aims to support DAC members and partners in deepening their work and accelerate progress on any number of topics contained within the DAC Recommendation’s six pillars. Progress in Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) prevention and response can be very incremental and difficult to measure, in part because it relies on addressing the many underlying factors that support the perpetuation of SEAH, such as cultural and social norms, as well as power dynamics. This Toolkit aims to support progress by DAC members on both technical and political levels, as well as support their coordination efforts with their partners to work towards long-term, sustainable change.

Download or read book Reimagining Urban Planning in Africa written by Patrick Brandful Cobbinah and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2023-12-21 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses urban planning in Anglophone, Francophone, and Lusophone Africa, exploring its history and advocating for new approaches. In a climate changing world, cities need to be reimagined and designed to be more sustainable, but despite being one of the fastest urbanising continents, Africa has generally weak urban planning systems. The chapters adopt multi-disciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, combining insights from urban studies and policy sciences, emphasising existing gaps, particularly in decision-making, planning practice and inclusiveness, to offer an in-depth analysis of urban planning in Africa. The authors advocate for the reimagination of urban planning, debating new institutionalism, digital infrastructure, climate urbanism, gated communities, and smart mobility. The chapters provide both theoretical and practical contributions, and advance thinking, policymaking, and implementation of sustainable urban planning approaches in Africa, thus making the book indispensable for advanced students, researchers, and practitioners alike.
Download or read book Contextualizing Compliance in the Public Sector written by Saba Siddiki and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-07-06 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studying compliance to uncover whether compliance is occurring, and what motivates it, is central to the broader study of governance. Contextualizing Compliance in the Public Sector: Individual Motivations, Social Processes and Institutional Design develops an interdisciplinary approach for answering a classic and essential question in any rule-governed context: What factors influence the decision of an individual or organization to comply (or not) with governing rules? Analyzing compliance from an interdisciplinary and multi-level perspective, this book examines the question of what motivates compliance in the context of salient policy issues, such as energy policy, water governance, police profiling, and drug policy, among others. The book brings together an interdisciplinary group of experts who explore the psychological, social, and institutional factors that shape compliance with formal rules embodied in laws and regulations and/or informal rules embodied in social norms. In doing so, they offer a platform for assessing individual compliance, compliance by or in the context of groups, and compliance on a systemic or societal level. Contextualizing Compliance in the Public Sector: Individual Motivations, Social Processes and Institutional Designis an excellent resource for researchers and scholars of public administration and public policy conducting research on compliance, rules, behavior, and policy outcomes.

Download or read book Key Policies for Addressing the Social Determinants of Health and Health Inequities written by Matthew Saunders and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2017-09-27 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Evidence indicates that actions within four main themes (early child development fair employment and decent work social protection and the living environment) are likely to have the greatest impact on the social determinants of health and health inequities. A systematic search and analysis of recommendations and policy guidelines from intergovernmental organizations and international bodies identified practical policy options for action on social determinants within these four themes. Policy options focused on early childhood education and care; child poverty; investment strategies for an inclusive economy; active labour market programmes; working conditions; social cash transfers; affordable housing; and planning and regulatory mechanisms to improve air quality and mitigate climate change. Applying combinations of these policy options alongside effective governance for health equity should enable WHO European Region Member States to reduce health inequities and synergize efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
