Local, régional, national ou européen, l'aménagement du territoire doit trouver ses marques, c'est-à-dire dégager des fondements sur lesquels il pourra s'appuyer durablement. La loi d'orientation pour l'aménagement et le développement du territoire du 4 février 1995, modifiée par la loi d'orientation pour l'aménagement et le développement durable du territoire du 25 juin 1999, lui fournit un cadre et lui donne l'ampleur qui lui manquait. Son application et son évaluation doivent être suivies avec un soin particulier. Le couple " ville-région ", dans l'ensemble français comme dans l'ensemble européen, peut lui apporter une assise solide et efficace. Il commande la réalité d'aujourd'hui et celle qui se dessine pour demain. Cet ouvrage est destiné aux étudiants des facultés de droit et des Instituts d'études politiques (IEP) mais également aux étudiants en géographie.

These included environmental law and ethics, environmental knowledge, technology and information systems, media, environmental awareness, education and lifelong learning, the use of literature for environmental awareness, the green factor in politics, international relations and environmental organizations. The breadth of the issues addressed at the conference made clear the need for greatly increased interdisciplinary and international collaboration the survival and sustainability concept. The exchanges at the conference represent a step in this direction.

In this perspective, INRA and CIRAD launched the initiative, in 2006, to develop a foresight project for analysing issues pertaining to the world's food and agricultural systems on the 2050 timeline. This book provides a synthetic presentation of the main conclusions that this foresight project has yielded. First, it recapitulates the main statistical references for the period 1961 to 2003, before going on to describe the Agribiom simulation tool used to calculate food biomass resource use balances. Two scenarios on the 2050 timeline are then considered: Agrimonde GO is a trend-based scenario that bets on economic growth to feed the world, in a context where environmental protection is not a priority; in contrast, the idea in Agrimonde 1 is to feed the world while preserving its ecosystems.
