Some of the main recommendations were: London weighting should be increased by 2.5 per cent. The salary range for salaried doctors employed by a Primary Care Organisation should be £47,710 - 72,478. The out-of-hours supplement for doctors should remain at 65 per cent of basic salary; sessional fees for doctors in the community health service should be increased by 3.225 per cent. Gross fees for items of service and capitation payments (for dentists) should be increased by 2.9 per cent; and sessional fees for emergency dental services should be increased by 2.9 per cent. A 3.225 per cent uplift on salaries and allowances has already been agreed as part of the 3-year pay deal for salaried primary dental care service. A 3.225 per cent pay uplift is recommended for consultants on the new contract, as part of years 2 and 3 of the agreed 10 per cent three-year pay deal. An increase of 2.5 per cent for the existing (pre-2003) contract is recommended. Clinical Excellence Awards should be increased by 3.225 per cent. An overall increase of 2.7 per cent is recommended for staff and associated specialists/non-consultant career grades ) (SAS/NCGs) (e.g. house officers) and the final incremental point for associate specialists should be increased to £60,000 and for staff grades (on the post-1997 contract) to £42,500.
