Book La Acreditaci N de la Educaci N Superior en Iberoam Rica

Download or read book La Acreditaci N de la Educaci N Superior en Iberoam Rica written by V. Ctor Manuel Rosario Mu Oz and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Social Political and Religious Movements in the Modern Americas written by Pablo A. Baisotti and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-12-30 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores several notable themes related to social, political, and religious movements in Latin America and offers insightful historical perspectives to understand national, regional, and global issues from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day. This volume’s collected chapters focus on the Latin American society and are divided into three sections. The first section, Social, presents some cultural, demographic, and urban changes that have occurred with increasing frequency in Latin America from the early twentieth century onward. The second section, Political, shows migratory, political, and identity movements that in recent decades have re-emerged with force. Finally, the third section, Religious, analyzes various Latin American religious visions with their particular characteristics. From the religious hegemony of Catholicism, a change in the religious panorama in the last decades can be seen intermingled with politics, history, and society.

Book Academic Freedom in Higher Education

Download or read book Academic Freedom in Higher Education written by Maria Slowey and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-07-12 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book explores the challenges facing universities and individual scholars through an examination of the history and theory underlying the concept of academic freedom. Freedom of speech is widely viewed as a central attribute of contemporary liberal democracies and within limits — differing opinions can be articulated in public without fear of reprisal. Academic freedom, long regarded as central to the idea of the university is, on the other hand, a right which must be earned through the acquisition of expert knowledge and the application of intellectual rigor in teaching and research. Both hard-won freedoms are argued by many to be under serious threat. The expert contributors to this book, from different global regions, examine both the importance of academic freedom and the severe threats universities face in this context in the twenty-first century. With its interdisciplinary perspective and cross-national emphasis, central issues in this text are illustrated through detailed examination of case studies and consideration of wider developments in the academy. Adopting a longue duree approach, rather than discussing the details of fast moving, controversies, the analyses offer insights for an educated public about an issue of pressing, contemporary significance. This book will be of interest to researchers, policy makers, staff and students across higher education and to members of the general public, who are concerned about these important and contested matters.

Book Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

Download or read book Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education written by Isabel Huet and published by Imprensa da Universidade de Coimbra / Coimbra University Press. This book was released on 2021 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The initial ‘idea’ for the book emerged during the seminar Sharing of Innovative Pedagogical Practices that occurred at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2018. Like all ‘good ideas’, this one originated in a conversation between colleagues from the University of Coimbra and the University of West London in the United Kingdom. The ‘idea’ of this book was to move away from sharing experiences related to teaching and learning in higher education in just one or two countries, but instead to organise a more European view about the policy, research and teaching practices that are shaping the way our students learn, academics teach and do research. We have a total of 16 chapters from academics in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The book is organised in four interrelated themes: (1) policy and quality; (2) professionalisation of teaching and academic development; (3) research and teaching nexus; and (4) pedagogy and practice. Enjoy reading the book!

Book Finding Solutions for a Post Crisis Society

This book was released on 2015-12-28 with total page 491 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2007 and the economic meltdown caused by the financial crisis, our societies have been evolving in different ways. New political movements have emerged in Southern Europe and new social movements in pursuit of common concerns are playing a more active role in our daily lives. In a parallel way, after the failure to predict the financial crisis, economist and social science researchers seek fresh thinking and new models that can better explain this new reality. Regulations are of critical importance in shaping the welfare of economies and society. Thus, core legal disciplines are exploring the effects of the financial crisis on social rights, labour market regulations, and civil, common law or international law, among others. With no doubt, the economic crisis has deeply impacted our economic, social, political and legal environment. During the last decade, researchers from a wide range of disciplines have been looking for solutions. Now it is time make a side stop on the way and to gather results. The 1rst International SBRLab Conference, Finding solutions for a post-crisis society, is organized by the Social and Business Research Lab (SBRLab), Universitat Rovira i Virgili. It is as an international and virtual meeting point of interdisciplinary research and researchers. The purpose of this international conference is to bring together researchers from management, economics, political, social and legal disciplines in order to present and discuss new trends in their respective fields.

Book Academic Integrity Broadening Practices Technologies and the Role of Students

Download or read book Academic Integrity Broadening Practices Technologies and the Role of Students written by Sonja Bjelobaba and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to broaden the horizons of academic integrity by discussing novel practices and technologies, and the importance of student involvement in building a culture of academic integrity. Examples are the outreach efforts towards a range of non-educational organisations, the exploration and comparison of ethical policies and actions in different institutions, and the improvement of student responses in research on sensitive topics. It explores a range of scenarios and strategies adopted in different parts of the world during the COVID-19 pandemic, and addresses new technological advances for investigating types of academic misconduct that are difficult to find, including translation plagiarism, contract cheating, the usage of the proctoring systems, and the innovative use of data mining to detect cheating on on-line quizzes. The work shows how working with students is an essential part of the fight against academic misconduct. The student voice can be a powerful source of motivation for students, but educators also need to understand their perspectives, especially regarding such an important topic as academic integrity.

Book Educational Digital Transformation New Technological Challenges for Competence Development

Download or read book Educational Digital Transformation New Technological Challenges for Competence Development written by Julio Cabero Almenara and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-09 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The COVID-19 pandemic has provided a unique opportunity to examine our understanding of the opportunities and challenges that ICTs offer to support the functioning of all aspects of education. The closure of educational institutions has forced a radical change in the practices of teachers and societies regarding the use of ICT to support teaching, learning, social relations and work in many sectors. In the training of digital skills, the instrumental mastery of ICT continues to outweigh the preparation of citizens to make constructive and safe use of technologies. After two decades of educational policies, we continue to reduce digital literacy to instrumental skills. That is, you do not learn why to use educational technologies and how, or to be critical of their use. Education 4.0 seeks to develop and enhance the digital skills of students and teachers in digital teaching environments, through the creation of a line of academic training programs for undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. This article collection welcomes contributions to improve training policies and practices in Educational Digital Transformation for educational development (strategies, activities, proposals for assessment and certification of skills).
