Book Do Southern English airline passangers consider airlines environmental commitment policy in their purchase decision making

Download or read book Do Southern English airline passangers consider airlines environmental commitment policy in their purchase decision making written by Wassim El Kadhi and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2014-04-11 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: Environmental matters and in particular climate change are among the most discussed issues at present. The aviation industry has been in the spotlight of politicians, environmentalists and the Media for its detrimental impacts on the natural environment and the question rises as whether the increased publication of the problem leads to the more environmental conscious consumer purchasing behaviour in terms of booking flights? The study aimed to answer this question. On the one hand the topic was chosen as it represents a current issue; on the other the topic of environmental conscious consumer buying behaviour appears to be under researched. The study intended to work through following objectives in order to find an answer to the main study aim: - How important is the climate change issue to consumers? - Can green marketing and environmental policy making bring a commercial benefit? - To analyse environmentally conscious consumer behaviour. - To analyse whether potential air travellers consider environmental attributes prior to booking a flight by looking at airlines environmental commitment. First of all existing literature surrounding the topic of green marketing and environmental consumer behaviour was reviewed prior to conducting primary research. Primary research was conducted by means of a questionnaire which was distributed to 100 people at Bournemouth, Southampton and Heathrow Airport. The results were subsequently analysed with the aid of SPSS and related to the literature reviewed. Research results exemplified that environmental concern among the population does not exist to an extent that environmental conscious purchasing is likely to take place. In terms of the booking of flights the majority of consumers do not consider airlines environmental attributes in their purchase decision making. Other factors such as travel costs and travel comfort still play a far more decisive role in most individual s decision making. However, the study could reveal that one of the main reasons for this being the case was that most respondents were not aware that airlines can be environmentally responsible. Hence, the findings of the study recommend that airlines should show more evidence of environmental responsibility to potential customers. Book Cross Cultural Destination Image Assessment Cultural Segmentation Versus the Global Tourist

Download or read book Cross Cultural Destination Image Assessment Cultural Segmentation Versus the Global Tourist written by Wassim El Kadhi and published by Diplomica Verlag. This book was released on 2009-03 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various scholars consider destination image - a vital part in tourism marketing- as the key in attracting tourists. It is often regarded, as the most important element in a destination's management and may induce success or failure. Within this research project, destination image is being assessed in cross-cultural terms. It scrutinises the extent to which destination image is culture specific. In other words, does a destination's image vary across people from different cultural backgrounds? This question evolves and is vindicated in an era that is subjected to globalisation and increasingly refers to the global tourist. Many academics are convinced that the world tourism market may be treated as a homogenous one due to globalisation. However, the literature also provides some opposing bearings and discusses them. Hence, the author of this book intended to investigate this issue in more depth in order to find a probable answer to the contradicting sources by conducting an exploratory study of Arab-Islamic and Protestant European youth's pre-visitation image on Berlin. In response to the objectives of this study, primary research was carried out. It involved both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Field and online surveys enabled the researcher to collect 239 completed questionnaires. Besides semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions were carried out. Obtained data was entered into SPSS and frequencies and means were calculated and several ANOVA tests and cross-tabulations conducted in order to stress destination image's specificity in terms of cultural background. This book further gives information on Berlin as a tourist destination, addresses destination image concerning influential cultural factors and the implications of globalisation on consumer behaviour. Finally, it studies the Arab-Islamic and Protestant European youth cultures in the light of globalisation and potential modifying effects. It also provides recommendations

Download or read book Draft Civil Aviation Bill written by Great Britain: Parliament: House of Commons: Transport Committee and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2012-01-19 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The draft Civil Aviation Bill proposes to transfer some 90 security regulation posts currently within the Department for Transport to the Civil Aviation Authority. The £5 million annual cost would also transfer - from the taxpayer to airports and, ultimately, to air passengers. In this report the Transport Committee warns the Government to ensure that the viability of smaller airports is not put at risk by the costs of new public information requirements and security changes proposed in the Bill. The Committee also calls for Ministers to take a more comprehensive approach to improving the air passenger experience, including services provided by the UK Borders Agency. Recommendations include: that public information requirements imposed on airports by the CAA do not generate unnecessary bureaucracy or cost and be clearly related to matters of importance to airline passengers; the special position of airlines, as the direct customers of airports, be recognised in the Bill; the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) be given a secondary duty toward airlines, in recognition of their special position as primary customers of airports; measures are put in place to ensure the Competition Commission (or other relevant bodies) can strike out 'vexatious or frivolous appeals' mounted by airline or airports against licensing conditions.

Book Sustainability and Management

Download or read book Sustainability and Management written by Kıymet Çalıyurt and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2017-07-14 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the wake of the 1987 Brundtland Report, sustainable development has become key to the management systems within businesses, and a means by which companies can increase their long-term value. Being a ‘sustainable company’ increasingly means ‘staying alive in business’ and has become a necessity for all kinds of enterprises, from the micro-sized to global corporations. In more recent years, many companies, and indeed governments, have looked at sustainability as a means to combat the multiple challenges of environmental accidents, global warming, resource depletion, energy, poverty and pollution. However, being sustainable or maintaining sustainability is not an easy task for a company’s management function. It needs continuous support and engagement from the board, the executive management, staff and other stakeholders alike. Additionally, it brings extra costs to the company in terms of hiring trained staff, organising continuous training in the company, publishing sustainability reports and subscribing to a rating system. Sustainability must be nourished by a company’s board as well as by all of its departments, such as accounting, marketing and human resources. By the same token, it is not enough for a company simply to declare itself a ‘sustainable business’ or rely on past measures and reputation; sustainability is an ongoing activity and one which has to be proved by periodically disclosing sustainability reports, according to international rating systems. In Sustainability and Management: An International Perspective, Kıymet Çalıyurt and Ülkü Yüksel bring together international authors from a variety of specialisations to discuss the development, aspects, problems, roadmap, trends and disclosure systems for sustainability in management. The result is a lively, insightful exposition of the field.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines issues and implications of digital and social media marketing for emerging markets. These markets necessitate substantial adaptations of developed theories and approaches employed in the Western world. The book investigates problems specific to emerging markets, while identifying new theoretical constructs and practical applications of digital marketing. It addresses topics such as electronic word of mouth (eWOM), demographic differences in digital marketing, mobile marketing, search engine advertising, among others. These technologies are also being harnessed by businesses for various purposes including distribution and selling of goods, retailing of consumer services, customer relationship management, and influencing consumer behaviour by employing digital marketing practices. This book considers this, as it examines the practice and research related to digital and social media marketing.
