Book excerpt: Deep within the heart of every person is the quest to know a higher power. It was with this searching heart, during the crisis and despair of her life, that Valerie Arnold prayed a simple prayer: 'God, what makes your blood different from any other man? What are the properties of your blood that can wash away my sin? How can the shedding of your blood on Calvary bring newness to my life?' Sure, she had gone to church, never missing a service during all those formative years. After all, her dad was the pastor. She listened, she learned, but still she did not have the answers she sought. And so, with a passionate desire to know the living God, she embarked on her own hunt to uncover these truths, asking for revelation into the deep mysteries of God's grace and salvation. God's DNA Revealed: Unraveling the Mystery of the Cross documents Valerie's journey in this process and the discoveries she unveiled. Throughout the Bible, the Lord called upon different people to carry out assignments... So it was with a young lady who attended my church. When Valerie dared to utter the words 'show me, Lord, ' he did just that. I suggest that you find a quiet place to sit and read this powerful book, because once you start you won't be able to put it down. -Val J. Boulet, pastor/evangelist

In What Bothers Me Most about Christianity, Pastor Ed Gungor owns up to the valid criticism that affronts Christianity. With his trademark sense of humor and unabashed honesty, Gungor explores the ten most troublesome aspects of Christianity, addressing questions such as:Why does a loving God allow evil to exist in His world? If the Christian church is so good, then why have so many horrible acts been committed in its name? Why was God so harsh to His children in the Old Testament? Maintaining that having faith is not intellectual suicide and that mystery is an essential quality of the Christian belief, What Bothers Me Most about Christianity opens up the forum for amicable discussion between thinking people on both sides of the debate, from aggressive atheists to unswerving Christian believers. Gungor maintains that balancing faith and reason is indeed possible and that devoted Christ followers need not shy away from asking the tough questions. As he guides readers through these fundamental issues, they will find that their honest wrestling will actually bring them to a deeper, more mature understanding of faith.

Book DNA Following Jesus at the Cellular Level

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The miracle of the Gospel-Life is not just a theology you study from pages. It is something you also have inside of you, at a deep level of imprint. It is a theology of cells, a spiritual DNA. Each day is unique, each person is unique, each circumstance is unique. That is why it is important to have an internal guide-grid through which we can run each different scenario and experience in order to see things God's way, and say things God's way. This book is intended to start the conversation about how we can re-value the death and resurrection of Christ, and re-orient our worldview through the grid of a practical, everyday Gospel. To clear up the muddy waters around some biblical terms that have been defined by un-biblical means. To start a discussion about the great questions, "Why am I here? What is my purpose?" and to acquaint you with the practices Jesus used to stay deeply connected to the Father while He was here on Earth.

Book Characteristics of True Christianity

Download or read book Characteristics of True Christianity written by Steven & E. Sue Maugh and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013-10 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever asked yourself the question,"That doesn't seem very Christian like, does it?" When has this occurred? Was it at church or on a Christian TV show? How about a friend or neighbor that you know personally, and they claim to be a Christian. Are there any rules for us as regular everyday humans to know or discern whether or not someone is who they say they are? The answer is an unequivocal yes! God has plainly said in His word that only He has the right to judge some ones salvation. After all that is what Christianity is really all about, who is a follower of Jesus Christ! You see God is the only one that has the ability to see inside of a man or woman to their very core, their heart. Only He can know the thoughts and intents of the heart according to the book of Hebrews. He has however told us that every man, woman or child will exhibit fruit. This fruit will show itself in the form of our character. Then God said that we would know them by their fruit. In other words, we are to be fruit inspectors. To be a God ordained fruit inspector, you must first know what the fruit is and what a good fruit is supposed to look like. This takes training by someone who is an accomplished inspector and a desire on your part to become a good inspector. As the government hires and trains people to inspect our meat, vegetables and fruit, for our health, so God takes you and I, trains us to be fruit inspectors for our spiritual health.

Book Why I Left Church to Find Jesus

Download or read book Why I Left Church to Find Jesus written by Julie McVey and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-25 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever felt like you were outgrowing your childhood religion or the religion in which you have spent many years investing your time, resources, and most importantly, your faith? Have you ever experienced being shunned for religious reasons? It's hard enough to spiritually evolve and accept that many doctrines of your once beloved religion no longer resonate with you, but to be shunned by family or close friends because of it is one of the most painful realities one can endure as it forces one to go through the loss of a person still alive. The grief is real. In Why I Left Church to Find Jesus: A Personal Odyssey, you will take a journey of carefree freedom in innocent faith to bondage in an authoritarian religion to freedom once again but not without the high cost that comes with spiritual transformation. Christians, ex-Christians, and religious outcasts will relate to the heartache, confusion, and betrayal of not only a religion lost in such a spiritual evolution but, more painfully, of friendships lost.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WARNING! This book could make your life messy! Today’s church is continually being confronted with the question, “What is the gospel?” Many churches answer this through strong exposition of biblical truth. Others answer with a focus on community engagement. But doesn’t Christ call us to do both? The covenant of salvation demands a radical re-patterning of relationships. Bryan Lorrits, a pastor in the heart of one of America’s historically racially divided urban centers, seizes the opportunity to engage God, the church, and culture in ways that may challenge your beliefs, practices, and relationships. A Cross-Shaped Gospel clearly articulates the vertical dimension of the Christian faith, as well as looking at the horizontal implications of salvation for growth, service, and community. It provokes readers to think about the implications of living out their faith. What does the gospel mean for issues of: Political engagement? Class distinctions? Race Relations? It is only by reaching upward that we can reach outward in power and with the proper motives, so let A Cross- Shaped Gospel help you in crafting and communicating a biblical philosophy of engaging God and others well!
