Download or read book Optoacoustic Spectroscopy and Detection written by Yoh-Han Pao and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optoacoustic Spectroscopy and Detection discusses the fundamental principles and practice of optoacoustic spectroscopy. This book serves as a basis for evaluation of the feasibility of using such techniques in specific instances. Organized into eight chapters, this book starts with an overview of the detection and identification of gas contaminants, which is necessary to understand the physical description of the generation and measurement of the optoacoustic signal. This text then provides an understanding of the optoacoustic effect on a molecular scale and describes the energy transfer processes and estimates of the lifetimes of vibrationally excited states. Other chapters consider the options available to the researcher in the selection of optoacoustic system design. This book discusses as well the capabilities and limitations of various optoacoustic system designs. The final chapter deals with the technique used for exploring the absorption spectra of substances, including powders, gels, adsorbed films, and organic tissues. This book is a valuable resource for researchers and graduate students engaged in the study of optoacoustic spectroscopy.

Download or read book Photomovement written by D.-P. Häder and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-06-19 with total page 959 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume emphasizes the involvement of all facets of biology in the analysis of environmentally controlled movement responses. This includes biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology and as an integral part of any approach to a closer understanding, physiology. The initial euphoria about molecular biology as the final solution for any problem has dwindled and the field agrees now that only the combined efforts of all facets of biology will at some day answer the question posed more than hundred years ago: "How can plants see?". One conclusion can be drawn from the current knowledge as summarized in this volume. The answer will most likely not be the same for all systems.
Download or read book UV VIS Spectroscopy and Its Applications written by Heinz-Helmut Perkampus and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: UV-VIS spectroscopy is one of the oldest methods in molecular spectroscopy. The definitive formulation of the Bouguer-Lambert Beer law in 1852 created the basis for the quantitative evaluation of absorption measurements at an early date. This led firstly to colorimetry, then to photometry and finally to spectrophotometry. This evolution ran parallel with the development of detectors for measuring light intensities, i.e. from the human eye via the photo element and photocell, to the photomultiplier and from the photo graphic plate to the present silicon-diode detector both of which allow simultaneous measurement of the complete spectrum. With the development of quantum chemistry, increasing atten tion was paid to the correlation between light absorption and the structure of matter with the result that in recent decades a number of excellent discussions of the theory of electronic spectroscopy (UV-VIS and luminescence sp,~ctroscopy) have been published. Consequently, this extremely ivteresting aspect of molecular spec troscopy has dominated the teaching of the subject both in my own lectures and those of others. However, it is often overlooked that, in addition to the theory, applications of spectroscopic methods are of particular interest to scientists. For this reason, a lecture series about electronic spectroscopy given in the Institute for Physical Chemistry at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Dusseldorf was supplemented by one about "UV-VIS spectroscopy and its applications". This formed the basis of the present book.

Download or read book Electronic Processes in Organic Semiconductors written by Anna Köhler and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-04-22 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first advanced textbook to provide a useful introduction in a brief, coherent and comprehensive way, with a focus on the fundamentals. After having read this book, students will be prepared to understand any of the many multi-authored books available in this field that discuss a particular aspect in more detail, and should also benefit from any of the textbooks in photochemistry or spectroscopy that concentrate on a particular mechanism. Based on a successful and well-proven lecture course given by one of the authors for many years, the book is clearly structured into four sections: electronic structure of organic semiconductors, charged and excited states in organic semiconductors, electronic and optical properties of organic semiconductors, and fundamentals of organic semiconductor devices.
