Book Divorce Is War Attorneys Are Casualties

Download or read book Divorce Is War Attorneys Are Casualties written by Barry Gordon and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-07-27 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little did I know I was going to be the lead story on the 6:00 News. My life and career were about to be ruined. My family and friends would be disgraced along with me. I already knew what looking down the barrel of a loaded gun felt like from my days in the Army, but this felt even worse. I had one chance to protect myself and time was of the essence. I approached the 30th floor offices of the New York State Appellate Division at 27 Madison Avenue. I was facing a 5:00 p.m. deadline to file a "Motion to Impound" all the pleadings or documents in my case. I didn't want the public to know that I had been implicated in this, especially since I thought proving my innocence would be relatively easy to do. The bombshell that had my name on it was so unexpected that I was a little late in getting my documents ready to file. The Clerk for the Appellate Division had apparently been waiting for me for the better part of an hour. He took the documents to an area behind closed doors. For 15 minutes I stood at the counter, projecting an air of patience which I hoped would mask the unadulterated sense of fear I was experiencing. The Clerk came out and told me that my Motion had been denied because it arrived a few minutes late. Now I knew my picture was going to be on the 6:00 News.

Book A Casualty of War

Download or read book A Casualty of War written by Hannah Cook and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-08-27 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The scene is often romanticized: the emotional, happy reunion of loved ones embracing their beloved soldier, returned home from his time on the battlefield, relieved to have him safely home. But what if he doesn’t come home? What if he makes the decision, while deployed, that he no longer wishes to be reunited with the family he left behind? This is one such story of many too often repeated, one of a faithful wife, abandoned by her soldier, left to fend for herself and pick up the tattered pieces of what remains of her life, without an understanding of what became of the man she once knew and loved. War has many consequences, not only for the people who enlist to fight it, but for the people who are left behind and whose lives are forever changed as a result.

Book A Common Sense Practical Guide to Divorce in New York

Download or read book A Common Sense Practical Guide to Divorce in New York written by Lenard Marlow and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2021-01-05 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The simple message of this book is that divorcing husbands and wives should not allow divorce lawyers to send them off on a fool’s errand that will take what is already a tragedy in their lives and turn it into a nightmare. That is when they are persuaded to employ the law as a weapon in a legal tug of war the object of which is simply to get as much as you can and to give as little as you have to. Rather, they should look to the law as a common framework that they can turn to in their effort to conclude an agreement and thereby get on with their lives. There is a name for this. It is called divorce mediation and it doesn’t take forever or cost a king’s ransom.

Book Divorce Casualties

Download or read book Divorce Casualties written by Douglas Darnall and published by Taylor Trade Publications. This book was released on 2008-10-16 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some parents consciously, blatantly, and even maliciously denigrate their ex-spouse through negative comments and actions. Others simply sigh or tense up at the mention of the targeted parent, causing guilt and anxiety in the children. The result is a child full of hate, fear, and rejection toward an unknowing and often undeserving parent. Exploring issues such as secrecy, spying, false accusations, threats and discipline, Divorce Casualties recognizes the often subtle causes of alienation, teaching you to prevent or minimize its damaging effects on your children. Dr. Darnall's practical techniques for understanding the effects of alienation, including characteristics of alienators, symptoms of alienators, a self-report inventory and exercises, and real-life examples, will help even the most well-intentioned of parents renew their commitment to helping their child maintain a healthy, happy relationship with both parents.

Book The Handbook of Divorce Mediation

Download or read book The Handbook of Divorce Mediation written by L. Marlow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mediation, as a procedure to assist couples in dealing with the problems incident to their separation and divorce, is still relatively new in the United States. For the would-be practitioner, that poses certain problems. Divorce mediation cannot provide a long history of generally accepted procedures. Nor is there even a body of information to which would-be practitioners can turn for instruction or guidance. And, of course, there are no established schools that can train or prepare a practitioner to do this work. To make matters worse, the situation is likely to remain in this state for some time to come. Given this fact, it was felt that it would be useful for practitioners (even for those already engaged in divorce mediation) to have a handbook which would trace a typical mediation from its inception to its conclusion and which would provide them with the substantive informa tion they need to know in order to do divorce mediation. It is hoped that this handbook will fill this need. Having said that, however, it must be acknowledged that the purpose of this book is very much beyond that. Until now, divorce mediation in the United States has been shaped principally by such books as O. J. Coogler's Structured Mediation in Divorce Settlements: A Handbook for Marital Mediators, 1 and John Haynes' Divorce Mediation: 2 A Practical Guide for Therapists and Counselors.

Book excerpt: During my years as a social worker who intervened in the lives of many families, the frustrating prohibition I faced was the State’s reluctance to allow any suggestion toward the family developing a spiritual component. Even though it was obvious that this one focus could correct the errors that promoted child abuse, spousal abuse, addiction, and divorce, it was ignored as a useful intervention for failing families. It is my hope that this book can lead children’s caretakers to the thing that works to bring up their darlings in peace and safety.

Follow Davis as he unravels the murder and pulls himself up from the brink of despair.

Book Transnational Politics in the Post 9 11 Novel

Download or read book Transnational Politics in the Post 9 11 Novel written by Joseph Conte and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-11-22 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transnational Politics in the Post-9/11 Novel suggests that literature after September 11, 2001 reflects the shift from bilateral nation-state politics to the multilateralism of transnational politics. While much of the criticism regarding novels of 9/11 tends to approach these works through theories of personal and collective trauma, this book argues for the evolution of a post-9/11 novel that pursues a transversal approach to global conflicts that are unlikely to be resolved without diverse peoples willing to set aside sectarian interests. These novels embrace not only American writers such as Don DeLillo, Dave Eggers, Ken Kalfus, Thomas Pynchon, and Amy Waldman but also the countervailing perspectives of global novelists such as J. M. Coetzee, Orhan Pamuk, Mohsin Hamid, and Laila Halaby. These are not novels about terror(ism), nor do they seek comfort in the respectful cloak of national mourning. Rather, they are instances of the novel in terror, which recognizes that everything having been changed after 9/11, only the formally inventive presentation will suffice to acknowledge the event’s unpresentability and its shock to the political order.
