"Mysteries" refers to the complete knowledge of the Neter's powers and manifestations, as well as how this knowledge is accessed by those connected to it. Among the reports of ancient travelers, we find references to the mysteries practiced in Egyptian temples. Book Offerings to the Gods in Egyptian Temples

Download or read book Offerings to the Gods in Egyptian Temples written by Sylvie Cauville and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kings and gods adorn the walls of Egyptian temples in face-to-face meetings, and for two millennia these depictions have united the king and the divine. The king, the son of the god, presents his ancestors an offering or performs a ritual. Over two hundred offerings are divided into broad categories: purification, beverages, foods, produce from the fields, fabrics, ointments and adornments; rituals for goddesses and gods; symbolic, cosmic, funerary and defensive rituals; and royal cult rituals. All are explained, from their simple action (e.g. offering beer as a daily drink) to their symbolic meaning (beer is also a sacred drink that induces ecstasy of a divine nature which annihilates the destructive force of the daughter of Ra). A drawing and photographs illustrate each offering. The title of the offering is given in hieroglyphs to enable everyone to locate the words on the temple walls. Translations of the most significant texts accompany each of the offerings. Most of the texts in this book date to the last period of Egyptian history (Graeco-Roman period, 300 B.C. to A.D. 300) where the decoration is enriched with complex inscriptions, written in so-called "Ptolemaic" that very few Egyptologists are able to translate.

Book The Divine Knowledge of Egypt

Download or read book The Divine Knowledge of Egypt written by Norah Romney and published by DTTV PUBLICATIONS. This book was released on with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Egypt was considered by ancient peoples to be the epitome of Knowledge. Their mysterious Nile country had a knowledge system much more developed than any in their native ability, with which Egyptian religion was so strongly associated; therefore, it seemed to savor Knowledge practices to the foreigner. Imagine omitting the Pyramid Knowledge papyri. For a proper understanding of the Egyptian Pyramids and Temple Buildings, it is wiser to derive our information from the original native sources since we have almost no knowledge of Egyptian Knowledge. Most of what Egyptologists have written about Egyptian Knowledge assumes that it is merely a degraded form of religion or its foundation. Independent archaeologists have produced astonishing results. Ancient Knowledge, according to Stacy Dalton, was the basis for belief. Those seeking favor from a god could only succeed by laying hands on the deity, and this could only be accomplished through a specific set of rituals, prayers, and chants, revealed by God, which obliged him to fulfill his duties." Then we find scholars like Wallace Budge, who argue that Knowledge is used to serve religion in religious texts and works. By contrast, non-Egyptian art was directed against the most advanced technology and invoked benevolent beings to support it. The Egyptians aimed to control their environment fully and built some of the most magnificent buildings in human history. For a moment, let's consider the source of Knowledge. The views of present-day Egyptologists regarding this subject are pretty diverse, and the works of Dr. Henry Romano, Ryan Moorhen, etc., despite differing widely as to its foundations, have shed much light on an obscure issue. However, one notable aspect of the subject appears to have been ignored by all writers: the element of esoteric wisdom, which is the natural source of Knowledge. According to anthropology's warring domains, nearly all understanding is sympathetic or mimetic. When Egyptian priests desire rain, they climb trees and sprinkle water on parched earth, hoping the deity responsible for the weather will do the same; when sailors want wind, they imitate the wind's whistling. Despite being universal, this system does not contain the Knowledge element, according to our conclusions.

Book The Union of Isis and Thoth

Download or read book The Union of Isis and Thoth written by Normandi Ellis and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-11-17 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An initiatic guide to temple construction on the spiritual and physical planes • Details the initiations for consecrating yourself as a divine vessel • Guides you in building a sacred inner temple for connecting with the gods of Egypt • Delivers shamanic journeys and initiations on ascension, shamanic death and renewal, soul retrieval and healing, multidimensional realities, and more Deep within each of us lives a primal memory of a time when the natural world was recognized as divine and our temples were built from sacred materials enlivened through magic. Temples were not places you visited once a week; they were centers of community, divine work, healing, and wisdom, places where Heaven and Earth meet. This union of Heaven and Earth--the sacred temple--is also a union of Thoth and Isis: the Egyptian god of wisdom and the creative cosmic force and the Egyptian goddess of civilizing knowledge. Their relationship established the celestial teachings on Earth, for Thoth taught Isis all the mysteries and magic she knows and Isis acted as Thoth’s instrument to deliver the teachings in a form humanity could use. In this initiatic guide to temple building on the spiritual and physical planes, Normandi Ellis and Nicki Scully explain how to create a communal spiritual structure for connecting with the ancient Egyptian pantheon as well as how to consecrate yourself and become a vessel suitable for divine wisdom and a home for your personal gods. The authors detail the construction, shamanic visioning, and ritual consecration of a Moon Temple dedicated to Thoth. They explore teachings that help you develop relationships with the Egyptian neteru and realize your place within the family of the Egyptian pantheon. They guide you as you create your inner heart temple, the adytum, a safe place in which to receive guidance and access your higher spiritual bodies and oracular gifts. They provide shamanic journeys and initiations on ascension, shamanic death and renewal, soul retrieval and healing, multidimensional realities, and more. By creating a sacred temple within and without, we each can take part in the union of Isis and Thoth and restore the magic of the Egyptian mysteries to our time.

Book Invoking the Scribes of Ancient Egypt

Download or read book Invoking the Scribes of Ancient Egypt written by Normandi Ellis and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2011-10-28 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tools to powerfully write about and manifest your life using the power found in the sacred sites of ancient Egypt • Reveals how to create meaning from one’s life experiences and manifest new destinies through spiritual writing • Contains meditations and creative writing exercises exploring sacred themes in the Egyptian Book of the Dead and other hieroglyphic texts of ancient Egypt • Shares transformative and inspiring pieces written by those who’ve attended the authors’ Egyptian sacred tours Within each of us is a story, a sacred story that needs to be told, of our heroic efforts and of our losses. The scribes of ancient Egypt devoted their lives to the writing of sacred stories. These technicians of the sacred were masters of hieroglyphic thinking, or heka--the proper words, in the proper sequence, with the proper intonation and the proper intent. Learning heka provided scribes with the power to invoke and create worlds through their words and thoughts. To the writer, heka is a magical way to create meaning from experience. Through heka we manifest new visions and new relationships to ourselves and to others. We can make new art filled with beauty and light. Revealing the spiritually transformative power of writing, the authors take us on a journey of self-discovery through the sacred sites of Egypt, from the Temple of Isis to the Great Pyramid of Giza. Through meditations and creative writing exercises exploring the powerful themes found in the hieroglyphic texts of ancient Egypt and the Egyptian Book of the Dead, they show how, through writing, we can live beyond the ordinary, give our dreams form, and discover who we really are and what our lives really mean. Sharing transformative and inspiring pieces written by those who’ve attended their Egyptian sacred tours, the authors reveal how writing your spiritual biography allows you to reconnect to the creativity and divine within, face your fears, offer gratitude for what you have, manifest new destinies, and recognize your life as part of the sacred story of Earth.

Book Egyptian Wisdom in the Revelation of John the Divine

Download or read book Egyptian Wisdom in the Revelation of John the Divine written by Gerald Massey and published by Cosimo, Inc.. This book was released on 2008-11-01 with total page 50 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: [T]he drama opens in Revelation the same as in the Book of the Dead, with the resurrection and the glory of the coming Son. Behold He cometh with the clouds, and every eye shall see Him. It is the risen Lord of Resurrection who says: I was dead, and behold I am alive evermore, and I have the keys of death and of hades (Ch. i 18). This is Horus of the resurrection risen from Amenta in his triumph over death and hell or Sut and Akar. He proclaims himself to he the all-one, Har-Sum-taui-Neb-U . Jesus, like Horus, is the faithful witness for the Father... from Egyptian Wisdom in the Revelation of John the Divine It goes unappreciated by modern Egyptologists, but it is embraced by those who savor the concept of a hidden history of humanity, and those who approach all human knowledge from the perspective of the esoteric. Gerard Massey 's massive Ancient Egypt: The Light of the World first published in 1907 and the crowning achievement of the self-taught scholar redefines the roots of Christianity via Egypt, proposing that Egyptian mythology was the basis for Jewish and Christian beliefs. Here, Cosimo proudly presents Book 11 of Ancient Egypt, in which Massey demonstrates how Scripture was created from the remains of Egypto-gnostic traditions, with little knowledge of the ancient wisdom upon which it drew, through the specific example of the Biblical story of the Book of Revelation and John the Divine. Using Egyptian mythology, Massey makes sense of the apocalyptic visions of Revelation by showing how they are actually the work of Taht-Aan, a pre-Christian John the Divine. Peculiar and profound, this work will intrigue and delight readers of history, religion, and mythology. British author GERALD MASSEY (1828 1907) published works of poetry, spiritualism, Shakespearean criticism, and theology, but his best-known works are in the realm of Egyptology, including A Book of the Beginnings and The Natural Genesis.

Book Temple of the Cosmos

Download or read book Temple of the Cosmos written by Jeremy Naydler and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 1996-04-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this guide to the cosmology of ancient Egypt, Jeremy Naydler recreates the experience of living in another time and place. Temple of the Cosmos explores Egypt's sacred geography and mythology; but more importantly, it reveals with unprecedented clarity an ancient consciousness in tune with the rhythms of the earth. The ancient Egyptians experienced their gods not as remote beings but rather as psychic and natural forces, transpersonal energies that played a part in everyday life. This direct experience of the gods shaped the Egyptian concepts of human development, healing, magic, and the soul's journey through the Underworld as described in the Books of the Dead. While building on the pioneering efforts of R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz and others, Temple of the Cosmos is much more than a recapitulation of previous theories of Egyptian spirituality. Rather, this book breaks new ground by placing the work of other Egyptologists in an original, magical context. The result is a brilliant reimagining of the Egyptian worldview and its sacred path of spiritual unfolding.
