Book excerpt: Divine Rescue Mission is a very interesting book; it looks at how God has brought deliverance to His people on numerous occasions, carrying out His various rescues. As the title of the book states; it is really the interposition of God that would have wrought deliverance in the past. Sometimes God has to personally come and rescue you from some horrible situation; there are times when He sends heavenly beings, or just humans. There are times when God rescues a group of individuals; other times the rescue mission is just about one individual. This book is a part of a series entitled: "Stay On Course." Other books in the series include: God's Fulfilled Promises, Where Is The Sabbath Gone? The Peril Of Idolatry, Waiting On Your God, Forgiveness: A Precious Gift, and God's Hand In Nature.

  • Author : Adonis Vidu

Download or read book The Divine Missions written by Adonis Vidu and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-12-24 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christian theology affirms that the persons of the Son and the Holy Spirit are sent into the world to gather a scattered and rebellious humanity back to God. But how are we to understand these divine missions, given that the Son and the Spirit have already been present in the world from its foundation? Moreover, in what sense are they on a mission if they never leave the unity of the Trinity? In this volume, Vidu introduces us to the profound riches of this ancient and foundational doctrine. With ample illustration, he explains the technical concepts, the operative principles, and he clarifies the historical and contemporary debates. In the process, a constructive theology emerges where the category of divine missions frames topics such as the incarnation and life of Christ, his atoning death and ascension, the Pentecostal outpouring of the Spirit, the invisible indwelling of the Spirit, and finally the eschatological beatific vision.

Book Rescue Mission

Download or read book Rescue Mission written by David A. Mayes (II) and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The declining church stands in desperate need of regeneration, recovery, and revitalization. The primary goal for this thesis project is to lead Unity Missionary Baptist Church to a Christ-oriented, gospel-centered, and fruit-focused ministry. This endeavor implements an eight-week reconciling gospel program consisting of the sermon series Rescue Mission, eight small group discussions focused on the early church in the book of Acts, and forty-eight devotional verses for the congregation to experience spiritual growth and health. The church will discover that God’s Declaration is essential for a kingdom ministry. Ultimately becoming doers of the Word and not simply hearers. The quantitative research will measure change through the questionnaire responses and the congregation’s engagement. Triangulation of the data is pre- and post-questionnaires, focus group study and personal interviews, and the researcher’s observations. The gracious Savior employs and deploys his field ministry team of preachers to broadcast the good news of the truth through the life-giving force of Scripture to usher everlasting heart transformation. His divine influence primes the church to live out holiness, love, and service for the kingdom’s expansion effort. The church urgently requires this vital spark to enflame unity and growth, learning to live and love like Jesus Christ in community. God will breathe new life into his church through expository preaching and teaching grounded in his Holy Word empowered by his Holy Spirit. The church will not only revive and survive but thrive for the believer’s good and God’s glory.

The more we understand the universe and the intricacies of its operation, the more sense we have to marvel at its Creator.--Dr. Werner von Braun

Book Divine Providence The Wreck and Rescue of the Julia Ann

Download or read book Divine Providence The Wreck and Rescue of the Julia Ann written by Fred E. Woods and published by Cedar Fort Publishing & Media. This book was released on 2023-04-24 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "They that go down to the sea . . . these see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. . . . Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" —Psalm 107:23–24, 31 Many pioneers' journey began long before the trail across the plains. Brigham Young University professor Fred Woods' quest to learn more of these unheralded "sail before the trail" travels unearthed the little-known story of the Julia Ann, which shipwrecked in 1855. A group of Australian saints en route to the Salt Lake Valley was on board the Julia Ann that fateful night, ending with the survivors stranded on a desert island with little food and water. In Divine Providence, Woods unveils the story of these forgotten immigrants, who were involved in the only documented seafaring crash involving Mormon immigrants that resulted in the loss of human life. Their story will reveal the power of God in the preservation of these saints' lives and will instill a sense of admiration for their perseverance along the unheralded pathways to Zion.

Book The Pacific Garden Mission

Download or read book The Pacific Garden Mission written by Carl F.H. Henry and published by Solid Christian Books. This book was released on 2017-02-02 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No one who is even slightly familiar with the work and testimony of the Pacific Garden Mission will question the accuracy of the story here set forth. Rather, he will exclaim with Sheba's queen, “The half hath not been told.” It would not be possible to inscribe in a book the greatest triumphs of this work, for they are of so sacred a character that human language could not portray or express them aright. They are among those spiritual things which are spiritually discerned. If all the details of those sixty-five years were to be put down on paper, so far as it is possible to describe them, it would take more than the Library of Congress to house the books that would have to be written. Only eternity will reveal all that the work of Col. and Mrs. Clarke and their successors has meant to poor sin-laden humanity for whom Christ died. Nor were these poor derelicts the only ones benefited by contact with this great work. Some of the ablest preachers and teachers of the Word were trained to a large extent in the Pacific Garden Mission. Perhaps there is no greater expounder of Scripture in America than Dr. William Evans, who is internationally known and whose messages have been blessed to thousands in this and many other lands. As a student of the Moody Bible Institute, young Evans led the singing and played a cornet at the Mission and later served for two years as an assistant to Harry Monroe. He counts the time spent in that work as part of the schooling that fitted him for his later worldwide ministry. It has been my privilege to know many of those mentioned in this volume. I have seen the grace of God leading them on in Christ's triumph. I have recognized their lowly, self-sacrificing interest in others who are still where they once were. I have noted their dependence on God, and have been moved by their simplicity as they went to Him in prayer, believing He meant what He said when He bade them be not anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving make known their requests. And I know they were upheld by the Hand of Omnipotence which they grasped in faith as they knelt at the cross. Theirs’s has been a real salvation from real sin and wickedness. But I must not attempt to hold anyone longer at the door. Open and enter in and see for yourself this great galaxy of those who have surrendered to the cross of Christ. And as you move on through these stirring chapters you will find yourself exclaiming with awe and reverence “What hath God wrought!” H. A. IRONSIDE, LITT. D.

Book Divine Domesticities

Download or read book Divine Domesticities written by Hyaeweol Choi and published by ANU Press. This book was released on 2014-10-29 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divine Domesticities: Christian Paradoxes in Asia and the Pacific fills a huge lacuna in the scholarly literature on missionaries in Asia/Pacific and is transnational history at its finest. Co-edited by two eminent scholars, this multidisciplinary volume, an outgrowth of several conferences/seminars, critically examines various encounters between western missionaries and indigenous women in the Pacific/Asia … Taken as a whole, this is a thought-provoking and an indispensable reference, not only for students of colonialism/imperialism but also for those of us who have an interest in transnational and gender history in general. The chapters are very clearly written, engaging, and remarkably accessible; the stories are compelling and the research is thorough. The illustrations are equally riveting and the bibliography is extremely useful. —Theodore Jun Yoo, History Department, University of Hawai’i The editors of this collection of papers have done an excellent job of creating a coherent set of case studies that address the diverse impacts of missionaries and Christianity on ‘domesticity’, and therefore on the women and children who were assumed to be the rightful inhabitants of that sphere … The introduction to the volume is beautifully written and sets up the rest of the volume in a comprehensive way. It explains the book’s aim to advance theoretical and methodological issues by exploring the role of missionary encounters in the development of modern domesticities; showing the agency of indigenous women in negotiating both change and continuity; and providing a wide range of case studies to show ‘breadth and complexity’ and the local and national specificities of engagements with both missionaries and modernity. My view is that all three aims are well and truly fulfilled. —Helen Lee, Head, Sociology and Anthropology, La Trobe University, Melbourne

Download or read book Simply Christian written by N. T. Wright and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is justice fair? Why are so many people pursuing spirituality? Why do we crave relationship? And why is beauty so beautiful? N. T. Wright argues that each of these questions takes us into the mystery of who God is and what he wants from us. For two thousand years Christianity has claimed to answer these mysteries, and this renowned biblical scholar and Anglican bishop shows that it still does today. Like C. S. Lewis did in his classic Mere Christianity, Wright makes the case for Christian faith from the ground up, assuming that the reader is starting from ground zero with no predisposition to and perhaps even some negativity toward religion in general and Christianity in particular. His goal is to describe Christianity in as simple and accessible, yet hopefully attractive and exciting, a way as possible, both to say to outsides ÔYou might want to look at this further,Ö and to say to insiders ÔYou may not have quite understood this bit clearly yet.Ö

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first detailed exegetical treatment of Paul’s letters from the emerging discipline of missional hermeneutics, Michael Gorman’s Becoming the Gospel argues that Paul’s letters invite Christian communities both then and now to not merely believe the gospel but to become the gospel and, in doing so, to participate in the life and mission of God. Showing that Pauline churches were active public participants in and witnesses to the gospel, Gorman reveals the missional significance of various themes in Paul’s letters. He also identifies select contemporary examples of mission in the spirit of Paul, inviting all Christians to practice Paul-inspired imagination in their own contexts.
