Book The Christian Doctrine of the Divine Attributes

This book was released on 2016-05-27 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cremer's short, energetic treatise on the divine attributes was admired by both Karl Barth and Wolfhart Pannenberg. Cremer chastises the speculative flights of traditional doctrines of the divine attributes and issues a resounding summons to a more exegetically, economically, and christologically grounded account. Known primarily as a biblical scholar for his Biblico-Theological Lexicon of New Testament Greek, precursor to the monumental TDNT, Cremer shows himself here also an able systematician, with a pastor's eye for the role played by doctrine in the life of congregational and individual faith.

Book All God s Animals

  • Author : Christopher Steck, SJ
  • Publisher : Georgetown University Press
  • Release : 2019-10-01
  • ISBN : 162616715X
  • Pages : 262 pages

Download or read book All God s Animals written by Christopher Steck, SJ and published by Georgetown University Press. This book was released on 2019-10-01 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is the first of its kind to draw together in conversation the views of the early Church, contemporary biblical and theological scholarship, and post-conciliar teachings. Steck develops a comprehensive, Catholic theology of animals based on an in-depth exploration of Catholicism's fundamental doctrines—trinitarian theology, Christology, pneumatology, eschatology, and soteriology. All God's Animals makes two central claims. First, we can hope that God will include animals of the present age in the kingdom inaugurated by Christ. Second, because of this inclusion, our responses to animals should be guided by the values of the kingdom. As Christians await the final liberation of all creation, they are to be witnesses to God’s kingdom by embodying its ideals in their relations with animal life. Because the kingdom's fullness is yet to come and because our world remains marked by the wounds of sin, however, Christian treatment of animals will at times require acts that are at odds with the kingdom’s ideals (for example, those causing suffering and death). Steck examines each of these ideas and explores all of their complexities.

Book The Divine Mystery Revealed

Download or read book The Divine Mystery Revealed written by R.J. Hawkins and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2021-08-05 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered who and what you really are? What is the source of your life in this world and what is your relationship to this source? Does your life have any larger meaning or purpose? Is your human, worldly experience just a part of a dream, you being the dreamer, and your real self existing as a spiritual entity as part of the great Creator/Energy we call God. If this were so, would your perspective on life and death change? John, the spiritual entity of Roger Hawkins, inspired by the Holy Spirit, offers a thought-provoking examination of human existence and our ultimate purpose on earth, interspersed with letters from the Holy Spirit to His beloved children. John as the observer of Rogers life experience provides many opportunities of spiritual growth as Roger battled through mental illness, anxiety, and his acceptance of his sexual orientation in his own life. John leads Roger on a spiritual journey through often dramatic and controversial life experiences, where he discovers the truth concerning his relationship to divinity, his life in the world, and his connection to everyone else. As a culmination of his spiritual evolution, John was guided by the Holy Spirit to write the Humanity Manifesto, which is a blueprint to create change and bring about a new world order reflective of our divine nature as people. In the reading of this book, you to will discover your dual nature as the Divine mysteries will be revealed to you and you will find the answers that you have been seeking.

Grounded in Scripture and Sacred Tradition, Fr. Mallon offers an analysis of the challenges the Church is facing, along with practical tools that will support parish and diocesan leaders in bringing about significant renewal. Most importantly, he addresses the critical interface between a missionary parish and its diocese, essential to bearing lasting fruit. "Fr. Mallon understands what it takes to transform a mediocre parish into a dynamic, missionary one, and he understands that parishes need diocesan leadership to transform the Church as a whole. I pray that every bishop in the Church will absorb this message of love, and that, by the movement of the Holy Spirit, it will bring hordes of people to Jesus and his Church." —Patrick Lencioni, cofounder of The Amazing Parish and author of The Five Dysfunctions of a Team
