This book was released on 2011-02-24 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decentralized Control and Filtering provides a rigorous framework for examining the analysis, stability and control of large-scale systems, addressing the difficulties that arise because dimensionality, information structure constraints, parametric uncertainty and time-delays. This monograph serves three purposes: it reviews past methods and results from a contemporary perspective; it examines presents trends and approaches and to provide future possibilities; and it investigates robust, reliable and/or resilient decentralized design methods based on a framework of linear matrix inequalities. As well as providing an overview of large-scale systems theories from the past several decades, the author presents key modern concepts and efficient computational methods. Representative numerical examples, end-of-chapter problems, and typical system applications are included, and theoretical developments and practical applications of large-scale dynamical systems are discussed in depth.

Book Nonlinear H Infinity Control Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton Jacobi Equations

Download or read book Nonlinear H Infinity Control Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton Jacobi Equations written by M.D.S. Aliyu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive overview of nonlinear H∞ control theory for both continuous-time and discrete-time systems, Nonlinear H∞-Control, Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton-Jacobi Equations covers topics as diverse as singular nonlinear H∞-control, nonlinear H∞ -filtering, mixed H2/ H∞-nonlinear control and filtering, nonlinear H∞-almost-disturbance-decoupling, and algorithms for solving the ubiquitous Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equations. The link between the subject and analytical mechanics as well as the theory of partial differential equations is also elegantly summarized in a single chapter. Recent progress in developing computational schemes for solving the Hamilton-Jacobi equation (HJE) has facilitated the application of Hamilton-Jacobi theory in both mechanics and control. As there is currently no efficient systematic analytical or numerical approach for solving them, the biggest bottle-neck to the practical application of the nonlinear equivalent of the H∞-control theory has been the difficulty in solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs partial differential-equations (or inequalities). In light of this challenge, the author hopes to inspire continuing research and discussion on this topic via examples and simulations, as well as helpful notes and a rich bibliography. Nonlinear H∞-Control, Hamiltonian Systems and Hamilton-Jacobi Equations was written for practicing professionals, educators, researchers and graduate students in electrical, computer, mechanical, aeronautical, chemical, instrumentation, industrial and systems engineering, as well as applied mathematics, economics and management.

Book Adaptive Control for Tracking and Disturbance Attenuation for SISO Linear Systems with Repeated Noisy Measurements

Download or read book Adaptive Control for Tracking and Disturbance Attenuation for SISO Linear Systems with Repeated Noisy Measurements written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We address the worst-case adaptive controller design for single-input linear systems with repeated noisy measurements of a particular linear combination of the state variables to achieve asymptotic tracking and disturbance attenuation. Using the design paradigm outlined in [19], we obtained a class of single-input multiple-output adaptive controllers in closed-form with strong robustness properties. It is shown that the closed-loop system is totally stable with respect to the disturbance and the initial condition. Furthermore, when the exogenous disturbance has bounded energy and is uniformly bounded, the closed-loop system achieves asymptotic tracking of the reference trajectory. This design is further compared with certain single-input single-output design for trade-offs.

Book A Disturbance Attenuation Controller Adaptive Through a Nonlinear Modified Gain Observer

Download or read book A Disturbance Attenuation Controller Adaptive Through a Nonlinear Modified Gain Observer written by wei huang and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper presents an adaptive robust control strategy for a class of uncertain linear systems with disturbance input. The uncertain linear system contains unknown parameters in both the system and the input matrices. The system makes perfect partial measurement of the state. A disturbance attenuation function is transformed into a minimax differential game where the disturbance and the unknown parameters act as the cooperative players that maximize the cost function, whereas the controller is the opposing player that minimizes the cost function. Having shown the existence of a saddle point in the cost function, the optimization yields a minimax controller coupled with a stable nonlinear modified gain observer, which estimates the state and the unknown parameters. By maximizing the cost function with respect to the uncertain parameters, the minimax controller takes the parameter estimation confidence level into account to generate the worst case input for a given instance of time. This leads to two sets of Riccati equations, one for the controller and one for the observer. In this class of parameter estimation problem, the measurement function and the augmented system, which is composed of the state and the uncertain parameters, are modifiable functions or can be transformed into modifiable functions using an appropriate change of coordinate system, such as the observable canonical form. The essence of a modifiable function is that although the observer dynamics are nonlinear, the error in the observer's estimation error is linear. The existence of the saddle point in the performance index is presented. Under certain conditions, such as the observability and controllability of the system, the existence of the solution to the two Riccati equation and finiteness of the value function, the close loop system is stable and the estimation error is bounded, which demonstrates the disturbance attenuation properties of the observer. We present an unstable single-input single-output (SISO) four state vector case example with four unknown system parameters, subject to worst case disturbance. The simulation demonstrates the applicability of the disturbance attenuation controller coupled with the nonlinear modified gain observer, and assess its performance against the linear quadratic regulator (LQR) coupled with a modified gain extended Kalman observer (MGEKO). Furthermore, the derived disturbance attenuation controller is applied to an air breathig hypersonic flight vehicle with full state measurement. The nonlinear longitudinal dynamics of the aircraft, which is subject to large aerodynamic uncertainty, is linearized around a nominal trim condition to derive a nominal linearized perturbation model. The nonlinear modified gain observer estimates four system parameters to yield an estimated linearized perturbation model and the corresponding estimation error weightings for the worst case controller. The simulation result demonstrates the applicability of the worst case controller coupled with the nonlinear modified gain observer and its superior performance when compared against the Sum-of-Squares method shown in the previous literature.

Book Fault Estimation for Network Systems via Intermediate Estimator

Download or read book Fault Estimation for Network Systems via Intermediate Estimator written by Jun-Wei Zhu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-29 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with the fault estimation problem for network systems. Firstly, to improve the existing adaptive fault estimation observer, a novel so-called intermediate estimator is proposed to identify the actuator or sensor faults in dynamic control systems with high accuracy and convergence speed. On this basis, by exploiting the properties of network systems such as multi-agent systems and large-scale interconnected systems, this book introduces the concept of distributed intermediate estimator; faults in different nodes can be estimated simultaneously; meanwhile, satisfactory consensus performances can be obtained via compensation based protocols. Finally, the characteristics of the new fault estimation methodology are verified and discussed by a series of experimental results on networked multi-axis motion control systems. This book can be used as a reference book for researcher and designer in the field of fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control and can also be used as a reference book for senior undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities.

Book Adaptive Output Feedback Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems

Download or read book Adaptive Output Feedback Stabilization of Nonlinear Systems written by Lili Diao and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Output feedback control design techniques are required in practice due to the limited number of sensors/measurements available for feedback. This thesis focuses on output feedback controller design techniques for nonlinear systems subject to different system restrictions. The problem of controlling the heart dynamics in a real time manner is formulated as an adaptive learning output-tracking problem. For a class of nonlinear dynamic systems with unknown nonlinearities and non-affine control input, a Lyapunov-based technique is used to develop a control law. An adaptive learning algorithm is exploited that guarantees the stability of the closed-loop system and convergence of the output tracking error to an adjustable neighborhood of the origin. In addition, good approximation of the unknown nonlinearities is also achieved by incorporating a per- sistent exciting signal in the parameter update law. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by an application to a cardiac conduction system modelled by two coupled driven oscillators. An output feedback design technique is developed to achieve semi-global practical stabilization for a class of non-minimum phase nonlinear systems, subject to param- eter uncertainties. This work provides a constructive controller design method for an auxiliary system, whose existence is crucial, but is only assumed in (Isidori, 2000). The control design technique is used to regulate the benchmark van de Vusse reactor. Simulation results demonstrate satisfactory controller performance. The output feedback control design for a class of non-minimum phase nonlinear systems with unknown nonlinearities is studied. The proposed approach is able to combine the two previous design methods and provide a stabilizing output feedback control law. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by simulation results.
