Book Distributions and the Boundary Values of Analytic Functions

Download or read book Distributions and the Boundary Values of Analytic Functions written by E. J. Beltrami and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributions and the Boundary Values of Analytic Functions focuses on the tools and techniques of distribution theory and the distributional boundary behavior of analytic functions and their applications. The publication first offers information on distributions, including spaces of testing functions, distributions of finite order, convolution and regularization, and testing functions of rapid decay and distributions of slow growth. The text then examines Laplace transform, as well as Laplace transforms of distributions with arbitrary support. The manuscript ponders on distributional boundary values of analytic functions, including causal and passive operators, analytic continuation and uniqueness, boundary value theorems and generalized Hilbert transforms, and representation theorems for half-plane holomorphic functions with S' boundary behavior. The publication is a valuable source of data for researchers interested in distributions and the boundary values of analytic functions.

Book Boundary Values And Convolution In Ultradistribution Spaces

Download or read book Boundary Values And Convolution In Ultradistribution Spaces written by Stevan Pilipovic and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007-07-20 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the construction and characterization of important ultradistribution spaces and studies properties and calculations of ultradistributions such as boundedness and convolution. Integral transforms of ultradistributions are constructed and analyzed. The general theory of the representation of ultradistributions as boundary values of analytic functions is obtained and the recovery of the analytic functions as Cauchy, Fourier-Laplace, and Poisson integrals associated with the boundary value is proved.Ultradistributions are useful in applications in quantum field theory, partial differential equations, convolution equations, harmonic analysis, pseudo-differential theory, time-frequency analysis, and other areas of analysis. Thus this book is of interest to users of ultradistributions in applications as well as to research mathematicians in areas of analysis.

Book Asymptotic Behavior of Generalized Functions

Download or read book Asymptotic Behavior of Generalized Functions written by Stevan Pilipovic and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2012 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The asymptotic analysis has obtained new impulses with the general development of various branches of mathematical analysis and their applications. In this book, such impulses originate from the use of slowly varying functions and the asymptotic behavior of generalized functions. The most developed approaches related to generalized functions are those of Vladimirov, Drozhinov and Zavyalov, and that of Kanwal and Estrada. The first approach is followed by the authors of this book and extended in the direction of the S-asymptotics. The second approach OCo of Estrada, Kanwal and Vindas OCo is related to moment asymptotic expansions of generalized functions and the Ces''aro behavior. The main features of this book are the uses of strong methods of functional analysis and applications to the analysis of asymptotic behavior of solutions to partial differential equations, Abelian and Tauberian type theorems for integral transforms as well as for the summability of Fourier series and integrals. The book can be used by applied mathematicians, physicists, engineers and others who use classical asymptotic methods and wish to consider non-classical objects (generalized functions) and their asymptotics now in a more advanced setting.

Download or read book Basic Complex Analysis written by Barry Simon and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2015-11-02 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Comprehensive Course in Analysis by Poincaré Prize winner Barry Simon is a five-volume set that can serve as a graduate-level analysis textbook with a lot of additional bonus information, including hundreds of problems and numerous notes that extend the text and provide important historical background. Depth and breadth of exposition make this set a valuable reference source for almost all areas of classical analysis. Part 2A is devoted to basic complex analysis. It interweaves three analytic threads associated with Cauchy, Riemann, and Weierstrass, respectively. Cauchy's view focuses on the differential and integral calculus of functions of a complex variable, with the key topics being the Cauchy integral formula and contour integration. For Riemann, the geometry of the complex plane is central, with key topics being fractional linear transformations and conformal mapping. For Weierstrass, the power series is king, with key topics being spaces of analytic functions, the product formulas of Weierstrass and Hadamard, and the Weierstrass theory of elliptic functions. Subjects in this volume that are often missing in other texts include the Cauchy integral theorem when the contour is the boundary of a Jordan region, continued fractions, two proofs of the big Picard theorem, the uniformization theorem, Ahlfors's function, the sheaf of analytic germs, and Jacobi, as well as Weierstrass, elliptic functions.

Book Wavelet Methods in Mathematical Analysis and Engineering

Download or read book Wavelet Methods in Mathematical Analysis and Engineering written by Alain Damlamian and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a comprehensive overview of both the fundamentals of wavelet analysis and related tools, and of the most active recent developments towards applications. It offers a state-of-the-art in several active areas of research where wavelet ideas, or more generally multiresolution ideas have proved particularly effective. The main applications covered are in the numerical analysis of PDEs, and signal and image processing. Recently introduced techniques such as Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and new trends in the recovery of missing data, such as compressed sensing, are also presented. Applications range for the reconstruction of noisy or blurred images, pattern and face recognition, to nonlinear approximation in strongly anisotropic contexts, and to the classification tools based on multifractal analysis.

Book Fourier Analysis and Approximation

Download or read book Fourier Analysis and Approximation written by P.L. Butzer and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 565 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the international conference on 'Harmonic Analysis and Integral Transforms', conducted by one of the authors at the Mathematical Research Institute in Oberwolfach (Black Forest) in August 1965, it was felt that there was a real need for a book on Fourier analysis stressing (i) parallel treatment of Fourier series and Fourier trans forms from a transform point of view, (ii) treatment of Fourier transforms in LP(lRn)_ space not only for p = 1 and p = 2, (iii) classical solution of partial differential equations with completely rigorous proofs, (iv) theory of singular integrals of convolu tion type, (v) applications to approximation theory including saturation theory, (vi) multiplier theory, (vii) Hilbert transforms, Riesz fractional integrals, Bessel potentials, (viii) Fourier transform methods on locally compact groups. This study aims to consider these aspects, presenting a systematic treatment of Fourier analysis on the circle as well as on the infinite line, and of those areas of approximation theory which are in some way or other related thereto. A second volume is in preparation which goes beyond the one-dimensional theory presented here to cover the subject for functions of several variables. Approximately a half of this first volume deals with the theories of Fourier series and of Fourier integrals from a transform point of view.

Book Distribution Integral Transforms and Applications

Download or read book Distribution Integral Transforms and Applications written by W. Kierat and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-01-16 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of distributions is most often presented as L. Schwartz originally presented it: as a theory of the duality of topological vector spaces. Although this is a sound approach, it can be difficult, demanding deep prior knowledge of functional analysis. The more elementary treatments that are available often consider distributions as limits of sequences of functions, but these usually present the theoretical foundations in a form too simplified for practical applications. Distributions, Integral Transforms and Applications offers an approachable introduction to the theory of distributions and integral transforms that uses Schwartz's description of distributions as linear continous forms on topological vector spaces. The authors use the theory of the Lebesgue integral as a fundamental tool in the proofs of many theorems and develop the theory from its beginnings to the point of proving many of the deep, important theorems, such as the Schwartz kernel theorem and the Malgrange-Ehrenpreis theorem. They clearly demonstrate how the theory of distributions can be used in cases such as Fourier analysis, when the methods of classical analysis are insufficient. Accessible to anyone who has completed a course in advanced calculus, this treatment emphasizes the remarkable connections between distributional theory, classical analysis, and the theory of differential equations and leads directly to applications in various branches of mathematics.
