Book Distributed Space Time Block Code in Asynchronous Cooperative Networks

Download or read book Distributed Space Time Block Code in Asynchronous Cooperative Networks written by Mohammed Taha El Astal and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Space- Time Block Coding (STBC) are used to improve the transmission reliably and spectral efficiency of MIMO systems. The cooperative communication techniques can avoid the difficulties of implementing actual antennas array by converting the single-input single-output (SISO) system into a virtual multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. When STBC applied to cooperative diversity the system termed as Distributed Space Time Block Code (D-STBC). Most of the existing research assumes perfect synchronization among cooperative users in D-STBC. Unfortunately, perfect synchronization is almost impossible to be achieved. Therefore, most of the designed space-time codes are no longer valid. There are different research efforts to overcome this problem; most of which has high decoding complexity. In this research, two low decoding complexity schemes for imperfect synchronized D-STBC have been proposed. The first scheme is based on the principle of parallel interference cancellation (PIC), whereas the other is based on successive interference cancellation (SIC). These approaches have been proved to be a very effective in suppressing the impact of imperfect synchronization.

Download or read book Near Capacity Multi Functional MIMO Systems written by Lajos Hanzo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-05-11 with total page 738 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing an all-encompassing self-contained treatment of Near-Capacity Multi-Functional MIMO Systems , the book starts by categorizing the family of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) schemes as diversity techniques, multiplexing schemes, multiple access arrangements and beam-forming techniques. Sophisticated coherent and low-complexity non-coherent MIMO receivers dispensing with channel estimation are considered in both classic and cooperation-aided scenarios. The book contains a 100-page chapter on the unified treatment of all block codes in the context of high-flexibility, cutting-edge irregular Linear Dispersion Codes (LDC), which approach the MIMO-capacity. The majority of the book’s solutions are in the optimum sphere-packing frame-work. Book Asynchronous Cooperative Networks Performance Analysis and Code Design

Download or read book Asynchronous Cooperative Networks Performance Analysis and Code Design written by Michel Nahas and published by . This book was released on 2011-08-22 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, cooperation was proposed as an alternative technique of multiple antennas (MIMO) systemsin order to provide high spectral efficiency and spatial diversity improving the link reliability. The mainidea is that multiple nodes in a network cooperate together to form a virtual antenna array. Cooperationpermits, like the MIMO, to exploit space-time or cooperative diversity. However, unlike MIMO systemswhere the antennas are collocated, the antennas in cooperative systems are spatially distributed on differentnodes. This new configuration can result in an asynchronism due to the difference in local oscillators andthe different propagation and processing delays. The lack of perfect synchronization among the cooperativetransmitting nodes destroys the required Space-Time Code (STC) signal structure at the receiver, leading tothe reduction of the achievable diversity and thus deteriorates the code performance. Therefore, the STCsdesigned for MIMO systems are no longer valid for asynchronous cooperative communications. In the first part of this book, the effect of asynchronism on cooperative networks is studied from the point of view of outage probability, which is a pertinent performance metric. However, the exact evaluationof this probability for finite values of the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is difficult most of the time. Therefore, we resort to the high SNR asymptotic approximation by deriving the Diversity MultiplexingTradeoff (DMT) and the "outage gain". Unlike the DMT, the outagegain can be used to compare the performance of two protocols having the same diversity gain or to optimizethe power distribution among the transmitting nodes. The performances of a two cooperative transmittersnetwork and two-relay networks with and without a direct link between the source and the destinationare evaluated. It is shown that when no relative delay exists between cooperative nodes sending the sameinformation, the diversity order of the network is equal to one, but with the presence of a delay, full transmitdiversity is obtained. It is also proved that when the relative delay is sufficiently big (in the order of a fewsymbol periods), the outage gain becomes independent from the value of this delay. In the second part, appropriate Space Time Block Codes (STBC) are investigated for asynchronouscooperative networks. A general construction method based on optimal synchronous codes is designed tobuild delay tolerant codes for an arbitrary number of cooperative nodes and for bounded delay profiles. Thenew codes are referred to as "Bounded Delay Tolerant STBC". These codes ensure optimal performanceswhen the cooperative nodes are synchronous and a full diversity and optimal rate for an interval of delayprofiles that varies with the code length. This design method consists of changing the order of the symbolsto send by concatenating and permutating several code matrices and it is flexible with respect to the numberof transmit and receive antennas, the signaling constellation and the transmission rate. However, becausethe length of the codewords can be large, the symbols detection at the receiver becomes more challengingand complex. Therefore, low complexity decoding methods providing acceptable performance are proposedto satisfy a certain performance-complexity tradeoff.

Book Cooperative Communications and Networking

Download or read book Cooperative Communications and Networking written by Y.-W. Peter Hong and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-07-28 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cooperative and relay communications have recently become the most widely explored topics in communications, whereby users cooperate in transmitting their messages to the destination, instead of conventional networks which operate independently and compete among each other for channel resources. As the field has progressed, cooperative communications have become a design concept rather than a specific transmission technology. This concept has revolutionized the design of wireless networks, allowing increased coverage, throughput, and transmission reliability even as conventional transmission techniques gradually reach their limits. Cooperative and relay technologies have also made their way toward next generation wireless standards, such as IEEE802.16 (WiMAX) or LTE, and have been incorporated into many modern wireless applications, such as cognitive radio and secret communications. Cooperative Communications and Networking: Technologies and System Design provides a systematic introduction to the fundamental concepts of cooperative communications and relays technology to enable engineers, researchers or graduate students to conduct advanced research and development in this area. Cooperative Communications and Networking: Technologies and System Design provides researchers, graduate students, and practical engineers with sufficient knowledge of both the background of cooperative communications and networking, and potential research directions.
