Download or read book Distance s et didactique des langues written by Sofia Stratilaki and published by EME Editions. This book was released on 2019-06-06 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Language Awareness and Identity

Download or read book Language Awareness and Identity written by Larissa Aronin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume offers a unique insight into multilingualism and sociolinguistic diversity employing the dominant language constellation (DLC) approach. How can novel research inform teaching practices? How do current theories account for multilingual reality in settings as diverse as countries of Western and Eastern Europe and Tunisia and Maghreb? The volume deals with issues of plurilingual identity of teachers and multilingual learners and examines the issues of foreign language teaching both in contexts perceived as monolingual and multilingual Drawing on the intersection of analytic categories such as language repertoire, translanguaging, visuality and narratives, it particularly emphasizes the connections between DLCs, language awareness and identity. The contributors demonstrate how formal language teaching can capitalize on the DLC paradigm and how teacher education programs can use it both as a framework to discuss and as a tool to enhance teacher education and professional development. This volume on DLC as an approach to exploring facets of language awareness and identity presents a very welcome contribution to the study of multilingualism as a complex and dynamic phenomenon. The studies stemming from a range of mainly educational settings in different countries will definitely enhance our thinking perspectives in an area of research with increasing interest. Prof. Dr. Ulrike Jessner, University of Innsbruck (Austria) and University of Pannonia (Hungary).

Book The Changing Face of the Native Speaker

Download or read book The Changing Face of the Native Speaker written by Nikolay Slavkov and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-11-22 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of the native speaker and its undertones of ultimate language competence, language ownership and social status has been problematized by various researchers, arguing that the ensuing monolingual norms and assumptions are flawed or inequitable in a global super-diverse world. However, such norms are still ubiquitous in educational, institutional and social settings, in political structures and in research paradigms. This collection offers voices from various contexts and corners of the world and further challenges the native speaker construct adopting poststructuralist and postcolonial perspectives. It includes conceptual, methodological, educational and practice-oriented contributions. Topics span language minorities, intercomprehension, plurilingualism and pluriculturalism, translanguaging, teacher education, new speakers, language background profiling, heritage languages, and learner identity, among others. Collectively, the authors paint the portrait of the "changing face of the native speaker" while also strengthening a new global agenda in multilingualism and social justice. These diverse and interconnected contributions are meant to inspire researchers, university students, educators, policy makers and beyond.

Download or read book Pour une approche plus efficace de l enseignement des langues secondes written by Gloria Diaz Faucher and published by Editions Universitaires Europeennes. This book was released on 2014-11-14 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2023-02-06 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book De Lexicografia written by Paz Battaner Arias and published by Documenta Universitaria. This book was released on 2010-08-30 with total page 777 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lexicography requires rigour, a broad scope, complexity and diligence. The current interest is for having varied and ideal dictionaries from diverse perspectives and for all types of users. The I International Symposium on Lexicography invited the consideration of lexicographical activity from an open perspective that links and unites languages together, considering its output a real help, since what links all dictionaries is that they are all instruments, and precision ones if possible.

Book New Directions in Language Learning Psychology

Download or read book New Directions in Language Learning Psychology written by Christina Gkonou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-27 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores potential new directions in the growing field of language learning psychology. The individual chapters cover theoretical and conceptual developments and innovative methodological designs, while also exploring practical implications. Language learning psychology is a vibrant field of research that typically involves constructs from social and educational psychology, which it considers in terms of their relevance for the domain of language learning. The diverse theoretical and empirical chapters examine a range of familiar and lesser-known constructs, highlighting the importance of taking into account both learner and teacher psychologies, and recognising the complexity, dynamism and situatedness of psychological constructs, as well as the value of employing diverse research methodologies. It is hoped that these ‘new directions’ concerning populations, constructs and theoretical and methodological frameworks will pave the way for innovative future developments in this vibrant field.

Book Language Learning and Teaching in a Multilingual World

Download or read book Language Learning and Teaching in a Multilingual World written by Marie-Françoise Narcy-Combes and published by Multilingual Matters. This book was released on 2019-03-06 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The majority of people around the world live in multilingual societies, and so it follows that plurilingualism should be considered normal. This book proposes a flexible and adaptive framework for designing and implementing language learning environments and tasks, which will be useful for practitioners working in classrooms where many languages are already spoken. The authors begin by presenting a state-of-the-art review of current research on language learning, language teaching and multilingual language acquisition. This is followed by a qualitative review of 37 multilingual research projects, which are treated as case studies to inform the practical guidance that constitutes the remainder of the book. The information and practical framework contained within this book will be of interest to researchers, teachers and teacher educators.
