Los criterios constructivos se desarrollan dentro del Capítulo IV, destinándose los dos últimos capítulos al diseño y cálculo propiamente dichos. En el Capítulo I se hace un repaso del estado tensional y los criterios de rotura del suelo, indicando a continuación la forma de obtención de los parámetros resistentes del suelo, así como los ensayos utilizados en el control y ejecución de las obras de contención.Con objeto de materializar los conceptos teóricos expuestos, se ha incluido en un Apéndice, ocho ejercicios completamente desarrollados de distintos elementos estructurales de contención.
